Day Three of Spring Training

Taijuan Walker talked about being back with the Mariners while missing most of the last two years because of injuries.

I am sure many are wishing Walker the best this spring training to become the fifth starter at the beginning of the season. Justin Dunn is expected to be the fifth starter if he is ready to start the season in the major leagues; however, it is good to have a backup like Taijuan Walker. Whatever the case it will be nice to see a strong rotation. How good the rotation will depend on how good the bullpen will be over the season as well. It is important not to overuse the bullpen.

Ichiro will be in camp along with Franklin Gutierrez  and Mike Cameron to make the outfield the best it can be defensively. The Mariners should be a better defensively outfield over what it was last year. The question can they hit as well we will see.

Mitch Haniger had his second surgery this week so no news when he will return. We may not have the answer for some time. The Mariners will be going with the youngsters in the outfield. Carlos Gonzales the Mariners signed this week might make the team. He is signed to a minor league contact though.

The pitchers and catchers are out doing their thing right now before the position players all get into camp. I am sure the pitchers can't wait until next Saturday to throw some live action. For now they are throwing off the mound or in the bullpen. We hope for some surprises along with those expected to be on the team. Go M's.
