crowd something to cheer about
in home opener Friday night.
The Mariners beat the Houston
Astros 11-1. Not a better to beat
I am sure we would all agree.
Marco Gonzales pitched much
better than his season opener
which actually not to do. Marco
went seven innings giving up
four hits, one run, no walks and
striking out six. The Astros one
run of the game was in the 7th
inning and the Astros scored on
a broken bat hit. The Mariners
up 6-0 at the time. They scored
three more runs in the bottom
of the seventh followed by two
more in the eighth to put no doubt
who wins.
Yohan Ramirez pitched an inning
without giving up a hit. Matt Koch
made his Mariner debut by giving
up one hit and striking out one.
Nice to do without pressure.
Adam Frazier was the offensive
player in his home debut having
four hits, scoring twice with first
one in the first inning. Frazier
drove in four runs. Like to see a
lot if that from him. He has now
nine games in his career having
four hits. Had a rough start now
average at .229.
Most the Mariners still have low
batting averages so need improve
in that area. See how Rodriguez
and Kelenic will do. Rodriguez had
a hit and scoring a run.Kelenic
had no hits but did drive in a run.
At least the bottom of the batting
order should be an improvement
over last year though averages
don't indicate yet.
Chris Flexen goes Saturday night
for the Mariners. He will need to
pitch well like he did early on in
his first start since Justin Verlander.
Go.M's!
