Mariners Wins Season Opener

The Seattle  Mariners  beat Minnesota Twins
2-1  in the first game of the season.

There is not a lot to  take from the first game
except Robbie  Ray pitched well  and will  win
a lot of games that way. Ray threw 70 percent
fast balls, however,  went to  his breaking
pitches when needed.

Cal Raleigh   caught the game and did a
great job behind the plate.  He blocked
a lot of pitches in the ground  which is
a good  thing. He looked like he will be
catching a lot when right handers are
pitching for the other team.. Mike
Blowers said on the  post game show
on the radio Raleigh  got a hit though only
roller he was able to get it out of the way
and relax.

Saturday  Sunny Gray will  start for the
Twins another right hander so likely
will see Raleigh behind the plate. Actually
the Mariners  will  face four righthanders
in the series so should see Murphy in at
least one game. We will  see who it might
be against.

Logan Gilbert  will face the Twins on
Saturday  followed by Marco Gonzales
on Sunday. Chris Flexen will finish the
series on Monday.  The Mariners  will
face the  White Sox for three games
before heading home for the home
opener next Friday.

Jarred Kelenic and Julio Rodriguez
neither had a hit in the games Julio
said he will be  alright. Jesse Winker
was the only hitter with two hits and
he made the final out of the game
catching the ball at the fence like
it was no big deal.

The Mariners  did leave a lot of runners
on base,  however,  we should not see
a lot of  this season this year. The Mariners
should  see a different lineup on Saturday
as Manager Scott Servais  mentioned a
couple days ago.  Though he wasn't in
Friday's lineup  we should  see Abraham
Toro in the lineup somewhere Saturday
since he was the hottest hitter in spring
training and don't want him to  go cold. Go M's.
