Sunday Night the
Seattle Mariners look like they were just going along fine until the ninth
inning when the Cubs made a rally to win the game. On Monday night there looked
like the same a Mariner victory when the Red Sox were able to come from behind
to win a great game pitched by James Paxton for the Mariners; Another blown
save for Steve Cishek who has been taken out of the role of closer for now by
the Mariners.
In the meantime the
Seahawks are starting the fourth day of training camp. Most of the positions
are filled by the Seahawks except the outside linebacker positon vacated by
Bruce Irwin who signed a free agent contract by the Oakland Raiders. Another position
that will be interesting for the Seahawks is the cornerback across from Richard
Sherman. The Seahawks have several candidates along with who will play inside
defensive back on passing downs.
The Seahawks have a
talented but questionable offensive line. The positions could change depending
on how the players do during camp and pre-season games. Speaking of pre-season
the first game will take place in eleven days when the Seahawks go to Kansas
City to take on the Chiefs.
The running back
position will be another interesting one too. Right now Thomas Rawls who is
expected to be the starter is not practicing just like Jimmy Graham is not.
Tuesday Christine Michael was on the first team. He was looking pretty good
along with rookie Alex Collins. Both are catching the ball well as running the
ball. C.J. Prosise who is expected to be
the third down back hasn’t practiced yet but the team isn’t worried at this
time. Michael and Collins could play that role as well. What makes Collins a
good choice at running back is that he was in the same offense as the Seahawks
at Arkansas.
The wide receiver
position is good shape with the returning players. Paul Richardson who has been
out for the last couple years is looking good and maybe back as his old self
being able to run fast. If he is able to stay healthy he will be either the
fourth or fifth receiver depending on what Graham will be considered. Graham
could be either a receiver or tight-end. I would not be surprised if he plays
some of both. Richardson with his speed be able to backup Ty Lockett at punt
returner and be on kickoff returns as well. He would be a welcome addition to
those positions if he is able to stay healthy.
It will be interesting
to see what develops on the Seahawks defensive line as well. The question will
be if some of the young players will be able to step up where Michael Bennet
and Cliff Avril don’t have to play as many downs where they will rotate players
in and out.
Anyway in the meantime
we will see stories that will come about during the training camp along with
the pre-season games. Go Seahawks!
