Rangers three times then the San Diego Padres
two out of three they are having a rough time
with the Angels.
When a team is rebuilding as the Mariners
are you will have bright spots as well as not
so bright.
Saturday night the Mariners lost by a big margin.
The Angels took it to them 16-3. Justus Sheffield
having a few good games didn't have on Saturday.
He gave up a two-run homer to the Angels top
prospect right fielder Jo Adell his first career
home run. Adell had his second homer a few
innings later
Sheffield ended up going only four and two-third
innings giving up six runs. What didn't help was
walking four batters. Now we hope Sheffield got
it out of his system and get back to pitching well.
Joey Gerber finished the fifth inning getting the
final out. Aaron Fletcher came in gave up four
runs in two-thirds of an inning. He was replaced
by Zac Grotz who gave up four more runs including
a three-run homer to no other than Mike Trout.
The Mariners still haven't learned not to pitch to
Trout. I continue shaking my head when I see they
aren't walking him. Trout ended up going 3 for 4,
scoring four runs and driving in six.
I guess we can say we have only two more games
to face Trout and the Angels. Maybe the sixteen runs
will see the Angels score not so many runs in the
last two games of the series.
Anyway rebuilding can bring sour notes at times
and Saturday night was another one. Growing pains
we hope lead to a World Series in a few years.
Go M's.
I almost forgot Taijuan Walker made his debut
with the Blue Jays beating the Orioles 5-0 on
Saturday. Walker went six innings in the game.
Right now the fans of the Blue Jays like him
around. Vogelbach on the other hand has had
one plate appearance and he struck out.
