Mariners Win In Extra Innings

Justin Dunn had his second consecutive good
outing this time against the Los Angeles Angels.
He is showing he might be the pitcher the Mariners
thought when they traded Edwin Diaz and Robinson
Cano after the 2018 season.

Dunn gave up only one hit in the afternoon over
six innings. He walked over hitters while striking
out six. The reason he wasn't able to go any further
throwing almost one hundred pitches.

Dunn was able to stop Mike Trout and Anthon Rendon
to get any hits on the day. The Mariners played smart
on Sunday Trout three times on the day so he wouldn't
hurt them at the plate.

The Mariners scored in the top of the seventh inning
with Kyle Lewis hitting a home run then the Angels
tied it in the bottom of the seventh inning when Pujols
hit a double then Andrelton Simmons hit a single to
bring him in to tie.

The Mariners looked like they had a chance to lose
when in the bottom of the ninth closer Taylor Williams
threw a couple of wild pitches bur was able to get out
of it after all.

The Mariners scored in the top of the tenth inning. The
new ruler putting a runner at second to lead off the inning
allowed  the Mariners to score first. Kyle Lewis was
the runner and he scored on a hit by Tim Lopes  to put
the Mariners ahead. Lopes hit a ball to shallow left field
Lewis didn't stop kept on coming to score easily. I expect
had there been no outs instead of one Lewis would have
stopped at third.

The Angels had their runner on second, walked Trout
however Rendon and Brian Goodwin were not able to bring
either runners.

Yohan Ramirez pitched the tenth inning for the Mariners.
He struck out two batters besides walking Trout. He
recorded his first save while Williams got the win.

Marco Gonzales will be on the mound Monday to face
the Angels in the final game of the season.  We will see
whether the Mariners will have made a trade as the deadline
is at 1 pm Monday.

There was news out to the Oakland A's had a player
who tested positive for covid-19 so right now don't
have any idea whether the team will the series against
the A's. We may have more details on Monday. If the
player is positive the series could be cancelled. The
series could not be made up depending on where the
standings for the division title or the playoffs for that
matter will make a difference so stay tuned.

There is news out the Seattle Mariners may trade
catcher Austin Nola to the San Diego for a high
prospect. We will have more news on the story
on Monday along with any other trades that might
happen. This might be the reason Nola didn't play
on Sunday besides it was an afternoon game after
a night game.
