Opening Win Against Rangers

Friday night the Seattle Mariners had a nice win
over the Texas Rangers in the opening game of
the series winning 7-4.

The Mariners got off to a good start scoring four
runs off of Rangers starter Kolby Allard in the
first inning. In fact, they chased him where Allard
left the game with two outs.

Nick Margevicius pitched well for the Marines for
the first four innings He got into some trouble giving
up two runs in the fifth inning plus two more in the
sixth when he left the game with one out when Joey
Gerber took his spot and didn't surrender a run

The Mariners scored a single run in the second on
Kyle Lewis 6th home run of the season. They scored
a single run in the third inning followed by another one
in the seventh inning for the Mariners to win 7-4. It was
the Rangers sixth loss in a row. Hopefully, the Mariners
can take advantage the rest of the series.

The win was Margevicius first win as a Mariner. Also,
he struck out seven hitters a high for the season. He has
pitched well in the starting role in place of Kendall Graveman.

The Mariners are not sure when Graveman will be back. He
is working out at extended training camp. There is a good
possibility when he does return he will work out of the bullpen.
He is working through having a benign tumor in his spine.
Manager Scott Servais thinks on Graveman's return he will
only be able to pitch an inning or two now and then.

Saturday night Justus Sheffield will make another start for
the Mariners. His last outing on August 16 he pitched well
against the Houston Astros unfortunately the Mariners lost
3-2 on a walk-off home run by Kyle Tucker off of Erik
Swanson. Sheffield will try to get his second win on the
season. Go M's.
