Mariners Sweep Cleveland

I am sure no one expected the
Mariners to sweep the Guardians
after being swept in the last
series at Arizona. Of course we
will take it.

Sunday Final Seattle 6 Cleveland 0

Emerson Hancock continues to
look like someone who is a former
first round pick and continues
getting quality. The question is
what will they do when Bryce
Miller gets  back. Speaking of
that Logan Gilbert expected to
start against Boston on Monday.

The big hit was JP Crawford grand
slam in the second inning. He
will remember being a first time
father on father's day.

Back to Hancock he went seven innings giving up only two hits.
He walked one and struck out
two.

Logan Gilbert will come off
injured list to start Monday
in game one of the series
against Red Sox. Go M's.

Mariners Win In Walkoff Fashion

Saturday night was another
one run game for the Mariners.
Heading into the bottom of
the ninth the Mariners were
down by one. This means
facing Cleveland's closer
and they had success.

Dylan Moore who pinch run
for Dominic Canzone after
his single was able to get
to third base. Mastrobuino
who pinch hit for Williamson
ended up walking. Cole Young
laid down a bunt to move
Moore and Mastrobuino over
to third and second. JP Crawford
walked to load the bases.
Dylan Moore scored to tie the
score on a wild pitch. Julio
Rodriguez struck out on a
hundred plus fastball. Cal
Raleigh was intentionally
walked. Jorge Polanco hit
single to score Mastrobuino
with winning run.

George Kirby went five innings
struggling a bit but gave up
just two runs. Gabe Speier
gave up the go ahead on a
wind pitch. The other three
relievers did a goof job.

It looks like Emerson Hancock
will start Sunday and see of they
can sweep this series.

Interesting the Mariners play
better against the good clubs.
It would be nice to play better
against the not so good clubs.
Go M's.

Mariners Win Friday Night

It has been a while however
the Seattle Mariners one
the first game of the series
7-2 over Cleveland. Also they
have even record at 34-34.
The Mariners are four and
half behind the Astros in the
AL West. The Rangers and
Angels are a game behind
the Mariners.

Cleveland scored twice in
the third hitting back to
back home runs and that
was it for the night. Luis
Castillo had a quality start
going six innings giving
up three hits, three walks
and seven strike outs .

The bullpen did a great job
giving up  one hit and no
walks.

The Mariners tied the game
in the fourth inning on a
home run by Rowdy Tellez
and a single by JP Crawford
to score Ben Williamson.
JP had a good game having
three hits.

In the 7th inning the Mariners
scored four runs to break it
open. Randy Arozarena hit
a single scoring Cal Raleigh
who had walked and Jorge
Polanco to third base.

Dominic Canzone who was
called up this week hit a single
scoring Polanco and Arozarena.
Cole Young finished the damage
hitting a double to bring home
Çanzone.

The Mariners had Andre Munoz
warning up in the bullpen looking
like he would pitch the ninth.
Polanco hit a solo home run
to make it seven runs. Arozarena
had an infield hit and Canzone
had a hit to right field. Both were
stranded though didn't need tgem.
Munoz didn't pitch the ninth instead
Bazardo did.

After his last great start George
Kirby is supposed to go on Saturday.
There is a possibility Logan Gilbert
will come off the injured list to
start on Sunday. If not it will be
Emerson Hancock. We should
see Gilbert in the series against
the Red Sox if he doesn't start
Sunday.  Go M's.

Tacoma's Catcher Harry Ford & More

The Seattle Mariners going on
a 1-5 road trip this past week
and before that a not so good
home stand had gotten off
to  good start are now 33-34.

Injuries primarily to pitching
staff along with a few position
players finally got to them.
Logan Gilbert being on rehab
assignment is expected back
soon. Bryce Miller is on injured
list for second time and who
knows when he will be back.
Luke Raley outfielder-first
baseman is starting rehab
assignment this Thursday
for the Tacoma Rainiers.
How long a lot will depend
how he hits.

It has been at least a month
that fans want to see Harry
Ford catcher with Rainiers
up with the ballclub. The
Mariners are playing Cal
Raleigh a lot as well and
without his production the
Mariners record wouldn't be
this good.

The thing with Ford the Mariners
need to play him a few times a
week. With Cal Raleigh who will
catch probably five days a week
or at least four.  This means Ford
would have to dh a few times
a week or play in the outfield
or some place. In Tacoma Ford
is at dh now as well as catch.

Mitch Garver who is currently
the backup catcher and dh on
occasion against lefties is
hitting .200. The trouble isn't
the average it is the fact he
has only one home run and
has driven in 10 runs. Garver
only has three doubles so
four extra base hits in 21 total
hits. The Mariners need more
than that. His defense is good
however the Mariners more
production out of him.

Last year though Garver's batting average was .172 his home runs
was at 15 and 51 RBIs. At this
rate he won't be close at all.

Does this mean bring Harry Ford
up and releasing Garver. They
still have to pay him regardless
what he does. You have to figure
Ford will be the backup catcher
next season. Adding another
position besides dh will probably
happen during the upcoming
offseason. President of baseball
operations Jerry Dipoto says
there is no plan to trade Ford
so bringing him up sounds like
the thing to do.

This week the Mariners brought
up Dominic Canzone from Tacoma
and dfa Leody Taveras who could
play for the Rainiers.

On Wednesday Harry Ford who has
been hot as of late like Canzone
and Cole Young before him. On
Wednesday night Ford a grand slam
home run in the third inning and
a double to driving in a total of
six runs.  He is batting .312 with
seven home  runs and 36 RBIs
after getting off to a slow start.

At Everett AquaSox Luis Suisbel
third baseman has been a big
surprise leading the team with
a .284 batting average. He has
seven home runs which is fifth
on the team. Outfielder and
superstar in the making Lazaro
Montes has thirteen home runs
and 41 RBIs to lead Everett.
Another top prospect infielder
Michael Arroyo got off to a slow
start however now he is second
to Montes with eleven home runs
and has thirty RBIs.

Update you again on other prospects
in the Mariners minor leagues soon.

Washington Huskies Football Recruiting Class 2026

Our first look of the year at next
year's football recruiting class
for the Washington Huskies.

The put out 229 offers out there
with 13 commits so far. Many of
the offers the players are going
elsewhere. With the transfer
portal the recruiting classes
are not as large as they used
to be. Now colleges are going
to pay the players plus have NIL
on top of that.

The Huskies recruiting class
has four offensive players, six
defensive and two who are
identified as athletes. Those
two most likely play offense
however could go to defense.
Also have a kicker too.

The Huskies have three four-star
recruits while the rest are three-star.
Offensive tackle Kodi Greene out
of Santa Ana was the first one to commit in late April. Gavin Day
safety from Las Vegas was the
most recent. The third of the trio
is local Derek Colman-Brusa from
Kennedy Catholic who is edge rusher.

The Huskies have two other players
locally as three-star prospect. Elijah
Durr cornerback from Mt. Tahoma
in Tacoma and defensive lineman
Ah Deong Yang from Puyallup
High School.  Besides Day they
have two other players from Las
Vegas in athlete Dre Pollard and
offensive tackle Dominic Harris.

The other listed as athlete is Sam
Vyhlidal from Beaverton Oregon.
Another Oregon player is running
back Ansu Sanoe from Lake Oswego.
The lone quarterback in the group
is Derek Zammit from Wayne New
Jersey. Two more cornerbacks in
Ksani Jiles from Bradenton Florida
and CJ Lavender from Santa Ana
California. The kicker is CJ Wallace
from St. John Bosco from Bellflower
California a school  the Huskies have
gotten players from before.

We will update you again when
we find out any other players commit.
Go Dawgs.

Mariners Get Swept

The Mariners got beat again in
the final game of the series.
Arizona 5 Seattle/2

Bryan Woo was cruising along
fine until the six inning. Ended
up loading the bases with no outs.
He was able to get one out however
former  Mariner Eduardo Suarez hit
a grand slam to win the game.
The Mariners were leading at the
time 2-0. Still not enough to win.

Matt Brash came in and pitch
the seventh inning. To be honest
he would have been the only
reliever I would have put in
besides Munoz. Not sure why
manager Wilson didn't do so
but that's life.

The Mariners have Thursday off
before facing the Cleveland Guardians.
The Mariners need to make s couple moves before this ends it for them.
Go M's.

Mariners Continue To Struggle On Road

The Mariners offense and bullpen
continue to show their inconstancy
on the road.

Tuesday Arizona 10 Seattle 3

Against the Diamondbacks the
Mariners are raking up hits but
they are leaving runners on base.
They had 12 hits Tuesday and
that's how many runners left on
base as well.

The Diamondbacks scored two
runs off of Logan Evans in the
third inning followed by one
each in the fourth and fifth.
Evans being a rookie is going
to look good at times and not
so at other times. When Logan
Gilbert is set to start again which
should be soon Evans will likely
be sent back to Tacoma. Besides
the four runs he gave up seven hits.

The Mariners scored two runs in
the sixth to make things interesting
on solo home runs by Randy Arozarena
and Rowdy Tellez. The trouble
happened in the bottom of the
sixth  when reliever Trent Thornton
gave up five hits and five runs
along with two walks. Three of the
runs came on a homer.

This was Thornton's second relief
appearance since coming off the
injured list. To be honest he hasn't
had a good season at all and how
long will the Mariners go with him.
Right now Thornton is good when
the Mariners are a ways ahead or
behind. If he continues this way
might as well let him loose.

Outside of Andre Munoz and Matt
Brash the rest of the bullpen has
been inconsistent in much the
way of the offense. We were hoping
this road trip would put the Mariners
back to their winning ways.

Wednesday the final game at
Arizona is in the afternoon. We
hope that the Mariners can win
one game in the series.

The Mariners return home on
Friday to play the Cleveland Guardians.
It won't be an easy task for the
Mariners to get back to winning ways.
Go M's

Mariners Lose In Extra Innings

The Seattle Mariners for the first
eight innings were shutout than
scored four runs in the ninth inning
to put the game into extra innings.

Donovan Solano and Cole Young
each drove in a run than Dominic
Canzone hit a two-run homer.
Earlier Canzone called up was a
pinch hitter.

Diamondbacks first baseman
Josh Naylor hit a grandslam
homer run off Mariners reliever
Carlos  Vargas to win.
Final Arizona 8  Mariners 4.

Vargas was the Mariners fifth
reliever after Emerson Hancock
Hancock started going five
innings giving up two runs.

The Mariners will see if they
can even the series Tuesday
night. It will help if the M's
can drive in runs besides
getting hits.  Will they make
a trade soon or see if the
current guys start getting
it done.

Logan Evans will start Tuesday
as Bryce Miller goes back on
the injured since cortisone shot
didn't help his arm. We should
see Logan Gilbert soon and before
Miller returns. Hard to know when
Bryce will return.

Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Adds Another Player

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team continues to
have a successful offseason with
the transfer portal.

Last season under first year head
Danny Sprinkle the Huskies ended
up ending last place in the first
year in the Big Ten as well. The
trouble wasn't the starting lineup
however getting little action
from the bench consistently.
Frushmen Zoom Diallo started
some as well coming off the
bench.

The Huskies players either graduated
or went into the transfer portal besides
Zoom Diallo and center Franck Kepnang who spent another season
being injured. Most likely he will be
the backup center to the new guy
Latham Somerville. Thing about
Kepnang he has been the heart of
the Huskies though he has been
hurt most of his time at Washington.

On Friday Desmond Claude announced
he is coming to Washington from
the USC Trojans. He is the second
player coming from the Trojans.
The first was former Huskies guard Wesley Yates III  who went to USC
last year after being hurt his freshman
year under former coach Mike Hopkins.
Zoom Diallo is expected to be Yates
backup however we could see them
play together too.

Desmond Claude spent one year
at USC averaging 15.8 points a
game. He played two years st Xavier
before USC. At Washington Claude
is expected to start at small forward.
The Huskies don't necessarily need
him to score the same this coming
season however being a double
figures scorer will certainly help.
Another area was interested in
Claude to and that was Gonzaga.

Bryson Tucker who earlier transferred
over from Indiana is expected to
be Claude's backup. He average
5.4 points a game off the bench
for Indiana last season as a freshman.
If he could add another couple points
to his average for the Huskies that. would be good. He averaged almost
three rebounds a game so another
one or two plus increase of minutes
will help the Huskies too.

The Seattle Mariners announced they
designated outfielder Leody Taveras.
They felt he didn't do what they hoped
since coming over from the Texas
Rangers. Mariners called up Dominic Canzone from Tacoma. He has been
hitting hard with the Rainiers. He likely
be in the lineup against right handed
pitchers while Dylan Moore most
likely start against lefties. How this
works we will see. Luke Raley is
expected back shortly to after
rehab assignment. How well Canzone
plays will determine whether Raley
will play right field or first base.
Raley can play center field if the
Mariners need to give Julio Rodriguez
a game off as well.

Over the next  couple weeks whether
the Mariners  need to make a trade for a position player as well.  Harry Ford has  played some at dh when not
catching so he could come up to
the Mariners too. Stay tuned.
position player.

Mariners End Skid

Sunday afternoon the Mariners
ended a five game losing streak
and avoided a second sweep
in a row. Final M's 3 Angels 2

The Mariners won only by one
run which is better than losing
for sure. We saw the old George
Kirby for sure and hope he keeps
it going. For the Mariners to
make the playoffs that is a must.

Kirby went seven innings so gave
most of the bullpen the day off.
He didn't walk a batter and a
career high 14 strikeouts. Matt
Brash pitched the 8th striking out
two and hasn't given up a run in
the time be hss been back. Munoz
was back to his old self
He walked the first batter of the
inning and struck out two including
ending the game against Mike
Trout.

The Mariners though only scored
three hits they did have eleven hits
which at least is a good sign. The
Mariners now off to face Arizona
for three. Now we hope the Mariners
can take at least two out of three.

Oh by the way  Cal Raleigh was able
to get a day off and didn't use him
as a pinch hitter either.

Monday against the Diamondbacks
Emerson Hancock will start for the
Mariners. If he pitches like his last
outing it will give the Mariners a
good shot to win. Go team.

Another Loss To The Angels

Right now the Seattle Mariners
are not playing very good ball.
The lost Saturday evening to
the Angels 8-6.

This was another game when
they scored first and couldn't
hold the lead. It was different
since two errors cost them two
runs. The Mariners had a couple
times where they couldn't drive
in runs with two outs either.
It isn't an easy task however they
do need to on occasion to win.

Somehow they will need to find
a way to win tomorrow. The Angels
hadn't been a good team at home
in the same fashion and had just
got off a road. The Mariners having
played well on the road this is was
a good time to win.

In major league baseball teams
usually make trades right before
the July deadline. It seems they
need to do sooner than  wait.
Luke Raley is expected back soon
so a  change will happen than.
Who will go is  anyone's guess.
Bring up Harry Ford would be a
good idea too. Just like Cole
Young the youngsters who seem
ready should be brought up to
see what they can do. We hope
the Mariners can change things
around. Go M's.

Angels Edge Mariners

Friday night the LA Angels edged
the  Seattle Mariners 5-4.

Bryce Miller looked better in
his second outing after being
on the injured list. He went
five innings however gave up
all five runs. Location was
the trouble when the Angels
scored.

What was disappointing the
Mariners scored one run in
the third followed by two
in the 4th and and another
in the 5th. The trouble was
Miller couldn't hold back
the Angels in those three
innings either. The Angels
scored one in the 3rd followed
by two in the 4th and 5th.

Rowdy Tellez had a sacrifice
fly with the based loaded.
He missed a grand slam
by a foot or two. In most
major league parks it would
have been  a home run and
a Mariners win.

Both bullpens did a good job
allowing no runs. It is tough
when a team is a position
losing recently. Now we hope
the Mariners can turn things
around. We hope another
bat comes in a trade soon
along with a reliever. Now
we see if the Mariners can
bounce back. Most teams
do go through losing streaks
however we hope not many.
It is to tough when the M's
have a few holes in the
lineup. Go M's.

Seattle On The Road

The Seattle Mariners are now back on.
the road for three games against the
Angels and Diamondbacks before
back home.

The Angels are much like the
Nationals and Orioles who they
just played being inconsistent.
The Angels though play even
worse at home than the Mariners.
They are 10-18 on the season
in Anaheim. Playing better on
the road like the Mariners.

The Diamondbacks are just
like the Mariners just slightly
bad at home and better on the
road. It would be nice for the
Mariners to sweep the Angels
like they did the Padres earlier
on the road. I would take two
out of three against both.

Winning Friday night will be
the key. Always winning an
opening series  is good to
happen. Bryce Miller starts
and making his second start
since coming off the injured
list. The first start he went
only four innings so it would
be nice if he can go five at
least this time..

The Mariners need to score
some runs early in the game
would help a lot. Also that
Cal Raleigh isn't the only
one producing runs. Seeing
Julio continue getting better
at the plate. Important for
him getting hits with runners
on base and getting on base
when he is up early in the
game.

So.let's see a good road trip
that can lead to a good home
stand in a week. Go M's.

Mariners Swept

As you can imagine the series against
the Baltimore Orioles at home was a
sure disappointment.

On Thursday afternoon the Mariners lost 4-3 in another one run game.
It wasn't much different than game two.

Cal Raleigh was the offense once again. He drove in Julio in the third inning after the Orioles had score
in top half of the inning.

Cal Raleigh hit a two-run homer in
the bottom of the fifth to take the
lead. It didn't last long since the
Orioles hit a two-run homer followed
by a solo shot in the sixth..  After
that neither scored a run.

This is another series the Mariners
should have won at home. The
Mariners seem to play at the level
of their competition.

The hardest thing for the
manager to do is knowing when
to take out the starting pitcher
and today was one of them.
What is difficult to is to make out
the line up as well.

Now the Mariners see if they can
stop the bleading and beat the
Angels in Anaheim. Until next .

.

Mariners Another Loss At Home

The Mariners continue to struggle
at home losing to the Orioles 3-2.
The Mariners now have a 16-16
record st T-Mobile Park while
16-12 on the road.

Things wouldn't be so bad if
they didn't lose against the
Orioles and the Nationals
who are both having poor
seasons just like they did
against Toronto as well.

The other trouble they continue
having trouble against left handed
pitching as well. The Mariners need
to add another bat at  first base
at least or if another infield spot
Dylan Moore could play first base
or bring up Tyler Locklear.

The Mariners will look to make
a trade before the deadline at
the end of July. We hope sooner
then later.

Emerson Hancock pitched good
going five and two-third innings
giving up a solo home run before
leaving. The bullpen gave up
the other two runs in the 7th.

This still comes down to the
offense not scoring earlier or
getting a key hit later in the
game. Rowdy Tellez after
pitch hitting earlier for Solano
ended the game with a fly out
to right field. He just didn't
have enough to get a double
off the fence or a home run.
The Mariners had two runners
on base so both likely would
have won the game.

Thursday afternoon the Mariners
will try to avoid a sweep to the
Orioles with Bryan Woo on the
mound for the Mariners. Also
helps the Orioles are starting
a right hander.

The Mariners head to take
in the Los Angeles Angels
in Anaheim for three game
series followed by another
at Arizona. We hope for
favorable playing both teams.
The Angels come back from
playing the Red Sox in Boston.
We hope that with having a
long flight will help the Mariners
at least on Friday. Of course
winning Thursday will help too.
Go M's.

Tuesday, June 3, 2025

George Kirby Struggles Again

George Kirby plus the Mariners offense
struggled again in the opening of the
series against the Baltimore Orioles.

This is Kirby's third start and loss
on the season. He threw a lot of
pitches in the first inning and
fortunately gave up one run. He
settled down going five innings
and giving up two runs.

Final Orioles 5 Mariners 1

The Mariners offense struggled
in May after having a good April.
June has started the same.
The offense doesn't  have to
be as good as April however
better than May.

The Mariners are struggling
at home especially against
weaker teams. We hope they
can rebound against the Orioles.

Emerson Hancock starts Wednesday
followed by Bryan Woo on
Thursday afternoon for the Mariners.
Go M's.

Washington Huskies Football

The Washington Huskies football is about to get into summer practice
to get ready for upcoming season.

On the offensive side they have
three transfers in expected to start.
One is Omari Evans to go with
Denzel Boston and Kevin Green
Jr. at wide receivers. Carver Willis
at left tackle. Geirean Hatchet
returns at right guard next to his
brother Landen at center. The
Huskies have inexperience as
backups along the offensive line.

The Huskies have two new players
each on the defensive line, linebackers
and defensive backfield through the
transfer portal as well.

We will see this coming season
whether they match up with the
rest of the Big Ten.  Go Dawgs!

Mariners Win Pitching Duel

Sunday was another great matchup
between the Mariners and the Twins.
The Mariners could have won all
three games or lost all three that
is how tight it was again.

Luis Castillo went six innings
shutting out the Twins on four
hits. At the end of six neither
team had scored.

In the 7th inning no other than Cal
Raleigh hit a home run to take the
lead. The Mariners only had one
hit before the homer.

The score stayed until the 9th
when the Twins were able to
get a run  off of Munoz once
again. In the bottom of the
ninith  Julio got on a infied
hit then after Cal struck out
he stole second and went
to third on a throwing error.
Randy Arozarena got a hit
to score Julio and the  ball
game.

This series for sure felt like
a playoff..We will likely see
moreike this but we  hope
for some easy ones too.

The Houston Astros won
Sunday over Tampa Bay
1-0.  The one run was in
the first inning. Talk about
another close one. The
Mariners are a half game
ahead of them.

The Rangers are four behind
the Mariners while the Angels
are six and the A's the .

The Mariners have Monday off.

Mariners Win Extra Innings

The Seattle Mariners snapped their
losing streak playing in third straight
extra innings.

Saturday night the Mariners finally
able to win again in extra innings.
Mariners number two prospect Cole Young was called up making his
major league début.

Young not only got his first major league hit in the game he drove
in the winning run on a fielder's
choice in the 11th inning. I expect
most players in their debut don't
do this in their first game.

Young will be playing second base
for the most part and we hope for
many years ahead. Leody Taveras
layed down a bunt to move Mitch
Garver over to third. Miles Mastro-buino pinch run for him.  Young a left handed hitter pulled the ball to first
base and the Twins were unable to
get Miles at the plate.

Mastrobuino and Dylan Moore will
be bench players now for the most
part for the next few weeks anyway.
Luke Raley is expected to go out
on a rehab assignment this coming
week so should see him back in
the next  week or so. It will be
interesting move they will make
than.

Cal Raleigh and JP each hit two-run
homers to put the Mariners in
position for the win.

Bryce Miller came off the injured
list to start the game. He went
four innings. He said in post game
that his arm stiffs up when the
temperature goes colder. Most
likely see him go as long as he
can over his next several starts.

Luis Castillo goes Saturday
afternoon to see the Mariners
can win the series. He has
been on and off in last several
starts. The Mariners have
Monday off before playing
the Baltimore Orioles for
three beginning Tuesday.
Go M's

Mariners Sweep Cleveland
