Mariners and Seahawks Report

Both the Seattle Mariners and the Seahawks
had Monday off. The Mariners their day off
coming back from New York. Tuesday they
take on the Texas Rangers at T-Mobile Park.
The Seahawks had the day off in the midst
of training camp. This coming Saturday they
have their first of three pre-season games.

JP Crawford who came in late Sunday night
when Jarred Kelenic was kicked out of the
game in the 8th inning had missed Saturday
night plus  up to that time because of the flu.
With the day off on Monday see whether he
is ready to go Tuesday night.

Justus Sheffield was supposed to make a
rehab assignment in Everett however he was
scratched. He is still have discomfort in his
left forearm. Not sure when he will get on
the mound and when he will be back with
the Mariners. Justin Dunn is another one.
No word yet when he will have a rehab
assignment. Kyle Lewis could be back
in a couple weeks. Wouldn't be surprised
if he dh's some.

Shortstop Noelvi Marte at Modesto was
one of the top players this week in the
minor leagues. He had a tough time in
July however bounced back in a good
way beginning in August. Marte had five
home runs and tied the minors with 13
rbi's. He now has 17 home runs on the
season along with 58 rbi's and batting
average .279. He does have a high strike
out just over one per game, however,
walking just over half of the games.
At 19 years old Marte looks to hit more
home runs then his age. Not bad at all

The Seahawks off the field the news is
about Duane Brown left tackle not practicing
since he wants a contract extension. Not
a big deal right now as long as he is ready
for the regular season. The Seahawks should
look at extending his contract. They have
no one to take his spot at a high level anyway.
He is about 36 years old so probably the
hesitation on Seahawks part. Also, they
are negotiations to give Jamal Adams
extension as well. So far negotiations are
going but signing so far it looks ahead.
Trading Adams for  two first round picks
seems to warrant a pretty good contract
to me.

Look forward to Saturday see how thing
have been going on both sides of the ball
The offense is working on faster tempo
far as the passing game. Also, need to see
the defense get off to a better start then they
did last year. Besides Adams we will see
what else is happening on the defense.
Go Hawks!
