Mariners Win Final Game Over Yankees

 Mariners 2 Yankees 0

The Mariners finally beat the
Yankees in the four game series.
The starting pitching was good
throughout the series however
the bullpen came through as well.
The offense still had trouble
in the game until the eighth
inning.

For the Mariners to have any
chance the offense has to be
more consistent. Of course,
we have known that all season. lol

Yusei Kikuchi went only five
innings because his pitch count
was almost to one hundred. I
wonder why so concerned about
the pitch count. The game was
0-0 at the time. You think they
want to watch how much the
relievers are going as well.
Kikuchi did walk three batters
and strike out six.

The Mariners first brought in
Casey Sadler in the sixth inning
where he only got one out while
giving up one hit. He only threw
seven pitches. He was followed
by Paul Sewald who went one
and two-thirds innings and Drew
Steckenrider going two innings.
Unusual amount however the
Mariners do have Monday off
so the bullpen should be set on
Tuesday against the Texas Rangers.

Sewald and Steckenrider were
both awesome where Sewald gave
up no hits while striking out four
and Steckenrider one hit while
striking out two. Depending on
the game it will be nice to use
Sewald, Steckenrider and Diego
Castillo in the 8th and 9th innings.

The Mariners scored their two runs
both in the 8th inning. A tough road
to ride after having losing the previous
three games. Kyle Seager drove in
Abraham Toro with a double. Cal
Raleigh drove in Mitch Haniger who
went to third on Seager's hit. Seager
tried to score and initially was called
safe by the umpire but the Yankees
protest was called out. The umpires
had a hard time during this series.
This happened after Jarred Kelenic
was called out on a strike out.
Kelenic objected though it was
a strike and was tossed out after
going to the dugout. JP Crawford
had to go in his place after not
playing for the second day being
sick. On the post game show on
radio Ryan Rowland-Smith said
Kelenic should have kept his mouth
shut while being in the dugout.
The only other players available
were Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens.
They can't play shortstop or the
outfield. Manager Scott Servais
stepping up for Kelenic was tossed
as well.

Won't be easy for the Mariners to
make the playoffs being five and
a half games behind the Oakland
A's along with the Yankees and
the Toronto Blue Jays ahead of
them as well though only slightly.
The A's and the Boston Red Sox
right now would be the wild card
teams. The Mariners play the
Rangers followed by the Blue Jays
this week both three game series.
Mariners have played well against
the Rangers. If they can win at
least two games if not all three
against both teams will really
help them out, otherwise will be
a higher hill to climb.

Logan Gilbert followed by Tyler
Anderson and Marco Gonzales
will face the Rangers. Expect
Gilbert to bounce back on Tuesday.

For those who want to know about
former Mariner Rafael Montero
he retired the first five batters he
faced then walked a batter. Montero
had to leave with soreness in his arm
see what happens next.

The Seattle Seahawks get ready for
their first pre-season game they
had a mock game at Lumen Field.
Having only three pre-season games
now probably not a bad idea to see
the rookies and seeing how the new
offense goes. The Seahawks have
their first pre-season game next
Saturday in Las Vegas against the
Raiders. I will give you the takeaways
I see from the game on Sunday morning
as well as the Mariners game against
Toronto.

The Huskies and Cougars are underway
with camp as well. They have their first
games in early September.  Go teams!
