Mariners Down Two

 Yankees 3 Mariners 2

For the second game in a row the
Mariners lose to the Yankees in
a close game. This time the game
went 11 games. The Mariners
have won most extra inning
games however this time it
failed. Can blame it on the
bullpen or lack of run support
or both.

Pitching: Marco Gonzales continues
to be back on track after having a
tough time when he came off the
injured list. Marco went six and
two-thirds innings without giving
up a run on three hits, two walks
and five strike outs. It is nice to
see Marco back on track.

Marco had the opportunity to
have the win since the Mariners
scored in the sixth inning before
his exit in the seventh. Joe Smith
came in to get the last out. Diego
Castillo came in the eighth inning.
Didn't have his game on. Not sure
whether it was he didn't feel right
coming in the eighth instead of
the ninth. Diego gave up a couple
of walks then Aaron Judge hit
a sacrifice fly to score Brett Gardner
who later on hit in the winning run
in the 11th inning.

The score was 1-1 heading into
extra inning; both teams scored
runs in the 10th then Gardner's
hit for the winning run in the 11th.

Hitting: The Mariners continue
having trouble in that area which
has been going for much of the
season. The bottom of the batting
continues to struggle. The Mariners
had nine hits on the night. Ty France
had three hits while Abraham Toro
had two. They certainly helping the
Mariners out though can't do it by
themselves at least not on a regular
basis. Both players smart moves in
Jerry Dipoto acquiring them. France
last year before the trading deadline
an Toro this year. Look forward to
see them in the years ahead.

The Mariners series against the Yankees
is a playoff in a way since they are both
trying to make it as a wild card. The
Yankees are not having a good season
however their experience has allowed
them to win these two first games. We
hope the Mariners can turn things around
in Saturday's game which is a day game
and will start in a few hours.

Chris Flexen will start Saturday's game
for the Mariners. He is having a solid
season more then we or the Mariners
expected I am sure. Flexen leads the
Mariners in wins with ten while having
five losses. Flexen had struggled on
the road earlier in the season however
has won his last two against the LA
Angels and the Tampa Bay Rays. If
things go as the series has so far I
expect another game down to the wire.
We hope the Mariners on the victory
side. The Mariners bats have to hold
their own to do so. Go M's.

The USA baseball team lost to Japan
in the gold medal game 2-0.
