Mariners 3 Blue Jays 2
I am wondering if I can write the
same post about the M's everyday
and just change a little of the
wording.
The Mariners scored first in the
third inning when Tom Murphy
hit a two-run homer with Jarred
Kelenic on second after a double.
The Blue Jays scored their two
runs in the top of the fourth.
Now to the top of the 9th inning
Murphy almost became a goat.
Ty France threw a strike to Murphy
after catching a pop fly in short
right field in foul territory. It should
have been in easy tag for Murphy
however the umpire called the
runner safe. The call was overturned
which was a surprise to me and I am
sure to most.
In the bottom of the 9th the Mariners
were able to load the bases with Kelenic
coming to the plate with two outs. The
Jays brought in lefty Brad Hand to face
Kalenic. The changes were good the
game would go into extra innings but
Hand had trouble getting the ball over
the plate and Kalenic had the discipline
not to swing at any pitches so walked
on four pitches for the walk-off win.
Have to say Kalenic has come a long
ways in a short time.
Chris Flexen who pitched well in this
game had to leave after six innings
with tightness in his hamstring. The
bullpen did a fine job in his place. It
is nice to see the bullpen doing good
once again.
Yusei Kikuchi will go Saturday night.
We hope for another good outing
from him. Go after the Jays hitters
up and tight. Keep them off balance
as well. Kikuchi is good to pitch after
Flexen being a lefty and a different
pitcher though the both do throw the
cutter. Go M's.
The Seahawks will be on the road
Saturday night taking on the Raiders
in the first preseason game. Tight end
Colby Parkinson who missed most of
last season with a broken foot reinjured
it according to coach Carroll. Not as
bad as last year however will miss
some time. Parkinson was having such
a good camp he was going to have a lot
of playing time this season. The Seahawks
will be without Rashaad Penny. He is
expected back next week. It is important
for Penny to be healthy since this will be
last year of his contract. Also the Seahawks
would gladly have him around. Alex
Collins is having a good camp so will get
a lot of playing in this game.
Russell Wilson will start at quarterback.
I expect he will get plenty of chance to
play because he wants to for no other
reason. Heard on the new offense we
will see more of Wilson under center
instead of shut gun this year. Good move
I have to say.
I will have takeaways from this game
next time as well as the Mariners game.
