Rainier Baseball and More

Since the Seattle Mariners  are  not
playing season opener  until Friday
we will  look at the Tacoma Rainiers
and other sports.

We will look to see how the Mariners
minor leaguers are doing g throughout
the season.  The Rainiers  have played
two games so far against Salt Lake at
home. They won the opener Tuesday
4-2 and lost Wednesday 9-5.

Taylor Trammell a familiar face to
Mariner fans starting last season
for the Mariners  hit a double in the
opener while getting  his first home
run of the season  Wednesday night.
Like last season all series are six games.
They will have  Monday's off for traveling.

In the opener  Josh Morgan Rainiers
catcher had his first career home run.
Darren McCaughan who pitched a
couple times late last season for the
Mariners was the Rainiers  starter. He
pitched five and two-thirds innings
giving up the two runs on seven hits.
Darren walked two while striking out
nine. Not bad for first start of season.

The rest of the minor league teams of
the Mariners start their season on Friday.

Football wise Seahawks general manager
John Schneider says they won't trade star
receiver DK Metcalf.  Of course,  we have
heard that one before.  We will see what
may happen before the NFL draft on April
28.

The Washington Huskies have snatched a
couple players in the transfer portal. A
Wide receiver/running back Will Nixon from
Nebraska.  It is important a running back
in the new Huskies system can catch the
ball too. Be interesting to see how much
Nixon will play. The other is running back
Wayne Taulapapa from Virginia. Spring
camp the Huskies are limited with Richard
Newton still out with injury and Cameron
Davis as well Both expected high on the
running back  depth chart. Go Dawgs!
