Mariners take on Nationals

The Seattle Mariners taken on the
Washington Nationals in s two game
series starting Tuesday.

The Mariners continue going with a
five day rotation in these two series
coming. I don't agree with it at all as
I have said all along with four days
off during August. This means Luis Castillo will pitch with five days rest.
All the other pitchers to however your
ace shouldn't have to. In fact he has
during these for days off. He could have pitched one more time. They
could have given other pitchers like
Gilbert and Kirby an additional days
off.

I don't really understand Servais wants
to stay with a five man rotation with
days off. I am sure he wants to rest
starters going into September when
they will play with few days off. I can
see that with Gilbert and Kirby for
sure and again don't have to with
Castillo. I hope it works out. They
may have taken the Oakland series if
Castillo hadn't had additional day off.

The Nationals have a worse record
then the A's so.hopefully this means
the Mariners will take both games.

Robbie Ray starts on Tuesday against
the Nationals followed by Kirby which
is fine. Marco Gonzales starts the
first game against Cleveland which I
am not so happy. Marco hasn't pitched
well for the most part since the all-star
break. If they want him to start against
Cleveland I would pitch him the second
or third game.

Starting Gonzales in the opening game
against Cleveland would be fine if the
Mariners used him like an opener going
three innings. I would then bring in
Penn Murfee for an inning then Chris
Flexen for two or three innings followed by the rest of the bullpen in
who is available.

I may sound critical but the Mariners
are in the playoff race. I hate to see
them lose a spot in the playoffs
because they stuck with a five man
rotation when they could have gone
with four in these recent days off.
The Mariners could of used a starter
if necessary out of the bullpen to.
They haven't used Flexen a lot either.
Oh well.
