Mariners and Angels Split Doubleheader

When it came to offense the Mariners
didn't have much on Saturday. They did
win the opener 2-1 but lost the second
game 7-1. We hope the Mariners can
win the final game to split the series
Sunday.

The Angels scored a run in the second
in the second inning then Ty France hit
a two-run homer in the third inning.
Not much action after that other than
good pitching.

George Kirby went six innings giving
up six hits no walks and striking out
ten. Matt Festa came in the seventh
getting two outs and giving up a hit.
Andre Munoz finished the seventh
getting out Ohtani then did the eighth
as well. Erik Swanson did the ninth
and recording the save.

In the night game Chris Flexen started.
He went six innings giving up five runs
on five hits including a solo home run and a two-run variety.

Luis Torrens who caught the game
had his first home run of the season
and the only run for the Mariners in the fifth inning. The Mariners had only
seven hits with Torrens and Sam Haggerty having two.

Mitch Haniger was activated and played his first game since May.
He did hit a double late in the game.
Hopefully his bat will help. Kyle Lewis
started the night game in left field
which he looked fine making a couple
catches. At the plate though he struck
out all four times.

Marco Gonzales goes Sunday afternoon. We hope he does better
against the Angels than his last
outing where he threw  batting
practice to the Yankees. The Mariners
are expected to go back to the five
man rotation after this series. Will
Gonzales be the odd man out. I
expect Sunday's game be a deciding
factor.  Go M's.
