Huskies Open Camp

Thursday the Washington Huskies
opened up trading camp. They are
just under a month from opening
game.

Michael Penix Jr took drills with the
number one unit while Dylan Morris
with second unit. May see them
switch on Friday. Not sure how much
right now Sam Huard will work with
either group. Coach DeBoer says he will name the starting quarterback
half way through camp so they will
be able to get ready for the opener
on September 3 against Kent State.

The offensive line units were a bit different except Jaxson Kirkland at
left tackle with first unit. Matteo Mele
thought of as the right tackle was with
the second unit at center. Not a big
surprise since the Huskies don't have
experience behind starter Corey Luciano. Mele will play a lot wherever
he goes.

Wayne Taulapapa running back transfer from Virginia saw a lot of
action and looked quick. Will Nixon
another transfer from Nebraska is
listed as both a running back and receiver will be a rb in the Huskies offense. We could see a lot of Nixon
on third down. Richard Newton is
practicing but wearing a yellow jacket
because of injury from last year. According to coach DeBoer likely to
last for two weeks.

We will look at the defense later on.
Good competition at defensive backs
and inside linebacker. Go Dawgs.
