Yankees 7-3 Wednesday afternoon.
The Mariners got of to a hot start.
They had three home runs in the
first inning by Eugenio Suarez, Carlos
Santana and Jarred Kelenic leading
to six runs.
In his first start for the Mariners
Luis Castillo pitched great going
six and two-thirds innings. Castillo
gave up a run in the second. He
was in control until the seventh
with two outs he gave a double then
a home run. The bullpen took over
without giving up a hit the last two
and a third innings.
The Mariners have Thursday off and return home to play the Angels on
Friday. Should be an interesting series
to say the least. The Angels went on
a good losing streak after the brawl
in Anaheim while the Mariners won
14 straight. In their last ten games
the Angels are 5-5.
The Mariners are 11 games behind
the Houston Astros while the Angels
are 12 behind the Mariners. They play each other 11 more games including this series coming up. The Angels will
have to win many of these games to
have a chance.
Robbie Ray will pitch the opening game
of the four game series. Saturday will
be another day-night doubleheader. It
will be interesting to see what the
rotation be like going forward. The Mariners haven't announced yet who
starts in the two games on Saturday.
I expect Logan Gilbert will start one of
the two. Luis Castillo should start
the opening game against the Yankees unless they move him to Tuesday.
The Mariners are hoping to have Ty France on Friday. Julio is progressing
well so should be back when his stint
on the injured list is over. I am sure
we can't wait. Mitch Haniger should
be available soon to. Maybe Friday
as well so we will see. Go M's.
