look like a team competing for a playoff
team. Coming up to the all-star break
the chances they win the division is
not likely. The pitching continues like
this Thursday and most of the first half
we could see them still in the playoffs.
At least we can enjoy the all-star game
and everything that surrounds it right now.
The Mariners are 43-43 with 76 games
remaining in the season. To make the
playoffs they don't have to win 90 games
however it would help. Doing so they have
to go 47-29. The Mariners need to pick
up at least one bat. The player should be
someone who can play the outfield as well
as dh. Hitting right handed would be nice
but not necessarily. Mike Ford looks like
the dh against righties so bringing in a
player to start against lefties. Playing the
outfield means Teoscar Hernandez could
dh against lefties. Kelenic could go to the
bench against tough lefties as well. In this
we could see Murphy and Raleigh in the
game at the same time.
Final Mariners 5 Astros 1
Pitcher of the game: George Kirby who went
six and two-thirds innings. Kirby gave up the
one run in the seventh.
Eugenio Suarez was the offensive player of
the game hitting two home runs and a double.
Suarez had three of the teams six hits as
well as three rbi's and scoring three times.
JP Crawford had a solo home run and Cal
Raleigh had a hit to drive in Suarez. Julio
Rodriguez had the other hit.
For the Mariners to win 47 games they
will have to have games a lot like this
one.
Luis Castillo will start Friday. For the
Mariners have the best chance to win
he will have to begin better than his last
two outings. He was able to shut down
the opposition after shakie starts. Can't
count doing three times in a row but never
can tell. Go M's.
