this road trip to Houston. This time they
beat the Astros 10-1 behind the great
pitching of Luis Castillo. He went seven
innings. His success was keeping the
infield busy with ten groundouts. He only
struckout three and had no walks. The
rest of the season sounds like a good
remedy for Luis. Isaiah Campbell made
his major debut coming in the 8th for
Castillo and not surrendering a hit. The
Mariners are having success bring pitchers
up from double-A Arkansas.
Mike Ford continues doing well since starting
when he was recalled from Tacoma. The
Mariners scored nine of their ten runs in
the 4th inning. Ford hit a three-run double to
help for the cause. He hit a solo home run in
the 9th to put a stamp on the victory. Teoscar
Hernandez and Cal Raleigh were the only two
without a hit though Cal did drive in a run in
the 4th with an out.
Bryan Woo will start Saturday in Houston.
Logan Gilbert will go Sunday. Both pitchers
do well like their previous starts the Astros
wish the Mariners hadn't come to town.
Woo isn't expected to start a lot after the
All-star break. At least he will get a good
break here. I would like him to keep pitching
with limited innings whether starting or out
of the bullpen. The other starters do well
and go long enough innings then will keep
the bullpen rested. Bryce Miller should be
back after the break. Likely will have is innings
cut short to. With the break the Mariners could
start Castillo, Logan and Kirby in a row. Logan not
pitching in the all-star game he could start on
Friday followed the other two. Woo could start
the fourth game followed by Miller. That would have
them pitch against the Twins June 17th and 18th.
The Mariners next off day is July 27 so give everyone
an extra day off. Go M's.
