.Mariners Win Arriving Home

The game at Seattle Monday night
off to a slow start. The Kansas City
Royals scored first with a run in the
third inning. The Mariners had a
solo home run by Randy Arozarena
in the 4th inning. It was his 100th
home run of his career.

In the fifth inning the Mariners
scored four runs including Randy
Arozarena having his second
one of the game with two runners
on base.

In the seventh the Mariners scored
their sixth run of the game s solo
home run from no other than Cal
Raleigh. It was his 33rd of the season
tying the most ever to hit that  many
by the end of June. The other two
Ken Griffey Jr. and Sammy Soto.
The only two with more home runs
by end of June Barry Bonds and
Mark McGuire.

George Kirby went six innings for
the Mariners giving up three hits and
one run. Second game he did that.
He didn't walk a batter either.

Final Mariners 6 Royal 2

Like the series at Minnesota the
Mariners play four games at home
against the Royals. Tuesday night
Emerson Hancock will start. Go M's.

Mariners Win In Extra Innings

For the third time in a row the Mariners
they went extra innings against the
Texas Rangers. Fortunately they won
the two games the first and last that
went 22 innings.

Heading into extra innings the score
was 1-1.  The Mariners scored two
runs in the tenth inning. Texas tied
in the bottom of the inning on a Corey
Seager homer run. Neither team
scored in the 11th.

In the 12th inning Donovan Solano
ground out and Luke Raley scored.
Mitch Garver back behind the plate
after being hit in the mask in Minnesota
hit a two run homer with Arozarena
to give the Mariners a three run lead.
Corey Seager had a sacrifice fly for
the Rangers only run.

Luis Castillo went six innings for the
Mariners as did the Rangers started.
Trent Thornton pitched the last two
innings recording the winner.

Garver had his best play on this road
trip having three home runs. Solano
had a great trip too. His average is
now up to .258. With Rowdy Tellez
being released Solano will have more
playing time. Luke Raley will play some
first base as well as right field. How
much playing time for Solano comes
down to how good Dominic Canzone
plays. Both Canzone and Raley are
lefties so how both are hitting will
determine the playing time.

You would think Dylan Moore would
play some right field against lefties
however he has been in a big slump
over the last 32 games or so. In fact
many fans wonder why he is still on
the team. That is a good question.

At some point Victor Robles will
return however after the all-star
break I am sure at the earliest.
Will the Mariners look for another
right handed bat. Go M's.

Mariners Lose In Extra Innings

Saturday the Mariners lost to
the Texas Rangers 3-2 in ten
innings.

The first five games of this
road trip the Mariners were
scoring without a problem.
Now they have trouble scoring.

The two runs the Rangers
scored in regulation time
was in the third inning.
The Mariners had an error
so Bryan Woo pitched great
otherwise gave up those two
runs in the third inning.

The Mariners scored a single
in the third inning and sixth.
Arozarena drove in a run
and Dominic Canzone had
a solo home run.

The Mariners couldn't do anything
though a runner on second in
the tenth. Andre Munoz had
trouble with his slider so went
to his fastball. With the bases
loaded Marcus Seiman hit a
single to win

Sunday the Mariners will see
the offense come alive. If so
this will make it a successful
road trip otherwise a disappoint-
ment. Go M's.

Mariners Win In 12 Innings

Friday night game in Texas against
the Rangers the Mariners won
in 12 Innings.

In the bottom of the 11th Miles
Mastrobuino made an outstanding
catch which they would have lost
if he hadn't made it. In the top
of the 12th Mastrobuino hit a
double to score the winning run.

This was an important win since
the Mariners lost the last two games
at Minnesota. Also winning the
first game of a series is important
as well.

Both teams scored a run the first
inning.  They added four more
runs through the sixth. The Rangers
scored three in the bottom of the
sixth then tied in the seventh. Stayed
that way until extra innings.

The Mariners had the opportunity
go blow it open in extra innings
loading the bases but couldn't
take advantage of it.

I am not sure many other teams
blow as many as the Mariners.
It is frustrating to watch. At
least they won in the end.
Now we see if the Mariners
can win on Saturday too.

The Mariners brought up
Harry Ford in case Mitch
Garver had to go on the
injured list but doesn't
look like it will happen.

Cal Raleigh is going to be
in the home run derby at
the all-star game. His dad
will be his pitcher and his
brother the catcher. A family
affair for sure.

Mariners Split Series With Twins

Thursday's game between the
Mariners and Twins was delayed
for four hours before it was started

I am sure the Mariners wish they
hadn't played the game.
Final Twins 10 Mariners 1

Mitch Garver was injured getting
hit in the neck and chin so he had
to leave the game in the fifth inning.

The Tacoma Rainiers are playing
in Round Rock Texas and Harry
Ford was stretched from their
Thursday night.

Not sure how serious Garver's
injury is however if he does go
on the injured list Ford will be
activated to take Garver's spot.

The game was scoreless until
the fifth inning when the Rangers
Scored twice off of Emerson
Hancock. He gave up a two run
homer. Zach Pop who was activated
recently gave up eight runs in the
sixth inning with seven being earned.
Pop gave up six hits and two walks
along with two homers.

After winning two games in the series
the last two were a disappointment
Primarily it was the lack of hitting
however giving up eight runs by
Pop didn't help.

Now the Mariners go to Texas to
face the Rangers. We hope they
can take two out of three.

The hitting needs to get back in order
for sure. Ok for a couple games but they
need to score at least five runs a game.
Good to trade to fix in the lineup. Go M's.

Mariners Shutout by Twins

George Kirby pitched a good game
and gave up a run in the sixth
inning his last one. The Twins Will
Castro drove in the run on a single.
Castro had a great series when the
two teams played in Seattle. The
Mariners pitched him well up to
now.

The Twins were able to match
the Mariners in this game after
having trouble in the last two
games. The only other game
the Mariners had trouble scoring
was the one they lost to the Cubs
in Chicago.

The Mariners had only three hits
in the game Wednesday night
and the Twins had four and two
were the ones that gave them
the win.

The two teams face each other
in the final game on Thursday
afternoon. The Mariners hope
the bats come back alive. We
do too.

The Mariners head to Texas
after Thursday game for a
three game series against
the Rangers.

Rangers currently in fourth place
just behind the Angels by half a
game. The Mariners are two games
ahead of the Rangers. Go M's

Mariners Promote Minor Leaguers

The Seattle Mariners promoted four
players from single A Everett to
the double  A Arkansas for the second
half of the season.

Right fielder Lazaro Montes, infielder
Michael Arroyo along with pitchers
Marcelo Perez and Charlie Beilenson
all helped the AquaSox to win Northwest
League first half after getting off to
a slow start.

Montes is the Mariners number two
prospect after Cole Young became
the Mariners second baseman.
His batting average at Everett is
.268 and he leads the league with
18 home runs and 50 rbis.

Michael Arroyo hit .262 with 15 home
runs and 30 rbis. He is the Mariners
number seven prospect.  It is hard to
know whether either or both play for
the Mariners. They could end up
being traded in a blockbuster trade
at some point however if they do
Montes will likely play some right
field and dh. Arroyo will be the team's
utility player since he can play every
infield spot.

Marcelo Perez started right games
for the AquaSox with a 4-2 record
and a 2.04 era. Perez walked only
five batters while striking out 34
in 35 1/3 innings Belinson who
throws right handed is a reliever.
He was drafted last year in the
fifth round. He is 25 years old so
a veteran in college anyway. He
struck out 48 batters in 34 innings
over 20 games.

Curtis Washington Jr. an outfielder
was promoted to Everett after playing
for Modesto. He was hitting .308
at . Modesto.
