Now the Work Begins For Mariners

Wednesday  night  the Texas Rangers  became
World Series champions beating Arizona 5-0
taking the Series 4-1. The Mariners  are now the
only team not to be  in the World Series or win
it.

This shows how close the Mariners were to be
there in 2023. Had they won two  or  three more
games in the regular season  with their pitching
it could have been  them instead of the Rangers.

The Rangers showed the Mariners  during the
playoffs  where the weaknesses  they had and
go forward  to have a chance in 2024.

We know the starting  pitching  will be there
with Luis Castillo having a better season while
Logan Gilbert and George Kirby  have another
season  under their belt.  Right now they have
Bryce Miller  and Bryan Woo who finished their
rookie  year.. They have veteran Marco Gonzales
and rookie Emerson Hancock coming off the
injured list so Mariners  could  bolster their
offense  by trading someone.

Mariners  will have to decide whether to resign
free agent Teoscar Hernandez or come  up with
another player to start in right field. They could
move Jarred Kelenic  to right field if he is still
on the team and settle  for another left field.
The Mariners  could use another right handed
bat for the outfield even with a regular right
fielder. An upgrade from having AJ Pollock
before he was gone at the trading deadline.

The Mariners will  need to decide whether  they
will platoon at second base  or bring in a regular
second baseman. Adding a utility player  as an
upgrade to Dylan  Moore  be nice as well even
if he is on the team. Backup  catcher will have
to be decided whether to bring back Tom Murphy
or go for a other one. It could be a one year gap
with Harry  Ford  expected no later than 2025 if
the Mariners  don't  trade the high prospect. He
could be seen playing  another position as well.
Go M's.
