Stove League Starting

The Seattle Mariners decided not to
give Teoscar Hernandez a qualifying
offer. Had they he could be on a one
year deal just over $20 million. He could
have declined and the Mariners would
have a compensated draft pick. This doesn't mean he won't be back Hernandez
can still sign a multi year contract with
the team but he is on the open market
now.

Another player it seems is on the market
is Tom Murphy. He didn't sign a new deal
yet with the Mariners. Murphy might be
looking for a multi year contract. His
injury he likely won't get from anyone
except the Mariners. A contract for Murphy
with the Mariners has a lot to do with
Harry Ford as well. Ford is athletic so he
could play elsewhere besides catcher.
He could play first, second or third base.
Doing so he could still backup Cal Raleigh
though the Mariners would still want a
third catcher on the team too. A lot depends what President of base operations Jerry Dipoto has on mind.

The Mariners did make a move on Monday
acquiring catcher Blake Hunt from Tampa
Bay for another catcher minor leaguer Tatem Levin's. Hunt is now on the 40 man
roster. Luis Torrens rejected to be optioned to Triple-A. So now he is a free agent.

Right now it looks as though Jarred
Kelenic is the right fielder while Dominic
Canzone would be the left fielder.  We look into more of that in the near future. Go M's.
