Hot Stove League

We hope this year will be an interesting
off season for the Mariners. Over the next few days we will see whether the Mariners
resign Teoscar Hernandez or not. If nothing happens this coming week means likely
the Mariners are out hunting for a new
starting outfielder either in right or left
field.

The Mariners don't have another catcher
on their 40-man roster besides having
Cal Raleigh. This means they will look
to resign Tom Murphy as the backup.
Before being injured Murphy was having
a good season so be important to bring him back or go.hunting for another backup
catcher. Until Harry Ford is ready the Mariners have little depth at catcher.

The Mariners have several players who
will be eligible for rule 5 draft. To keep
any of them must have to add to the
40-man roster. I don't see the Mariners
doing so other than having depth.

The Mariners will be looking to sign
a few free agents after the period
of players who don't resign with their
old clubs. Top of the list of course is
Ohtani. Also they could go after Seattle
native pitcher Blake Snell who was
named National League pitcher of the
year and expected to be Cy Young Award
winner. There is word he would like to
come home home to pitch so up to
the Mariners. The Mariners do sign Snell
this means the Mariners could let go
of one of their starters in a trade for a
position player.

Being so close and being behind two
games to World Series champions
Texas Rangers it is time to strike.
The Mariners hsd another profitable
year so time to increase their pay roll.
It is time to get the right players beyond
spending. Ohtani may take a lot of money
however the Mariners should make a
profit in his salary alone. The same could
be the same as Snell.

The most important thing besides getting
the right players it is to get out of the gate
fast as well. Have a better April than
last season. It will be important that Julio
gets off to a good start.

So let's see the Mariners make at least
one move or maybe two this coming
week. Go M's.
