Connecticut Huskies 76-63. Second
time they lost to a Huskies team losing
to Washington 78-73. They did have a win
between the two losses beating Mississippi
State Valley last Monday 78-40.
The Zags didn't lead throughout the game
which doesn't occur to often. Connecticut
who is ranked fifth in the country and won the national tournament last year led by
eleven at halftime.
The Huskies shot better than the Zags
making 29 of 52 from the field while
Gonzaga made 23 of 59. Also the Zags
made only 2 out of 12 behind the 3 point
line. Trouble they had against Washington
as well. The Zags did out rebound Connecticut 32 to 26 but couldn't take
advantage of the differences.
The Huskies had three players in double figured while the Zags had two. Anton
Watson hsd 20 points for the Zags and
Ryan Nembhard had 15.
The Zags have one game left before Christmas on December 20 at home
against Jackson State.
WSU Cougars lost to Santa Clara at home Saturday afternoon 69-61. In this game the
Cougars out rebounded Santa Clara as well
but couldn't take advantage as well. The
Cougars had 44 rebounds to Santa Clara's
36. The Cougars didn't do well behind
the three point line making 7 of 26 shots.
Santa Clara made six with only 16 attempts.
The main difference in the game Santa Clara made 17 out of 20 from the foul
line while the Cougars had only 10 of 14.
Forward Isaac Jones led the Cougars with
16 points. They had two other players in
double figures too.
The Cougars will play their final non-league
game Thursday night at Boise State.
First Pac-12 game will be at Utah on
December 29. Go Cougars!
