Angels Beat Up on Mariners

Saturday night for the Seattle Mariners was
different than Friday night turned out to be.
The Mariners did a number Friday on the
Angels then the tables were turned worse
where they scored eight runs in the first
two innings.

Ljay Newsome made his first start of the
season after Nick Margevicius went on
the injured list. Newsome who pitched
well out of the bullpen didn't have the
same results starting that is for sure.

David Fletcher led off with a single.
Newsome looked good getting Ohtani
out but then the flood gates opened.
Not a big surprise Mike Trout hit a
home run. With two outs Jared Walsh
had a solo home run. In the second
inning he hit a two-run that helped
the Angels to five runs. Newsome
left after two innings with the score
8-0.

Robert Dugger recently called up
made his second appearance went
two innings. After an easy third
inning he gave up a two-run homer
to Angels third baseman Anthony
Rendon making it 10-1 after the
Mariners scored a run in the bottom
of the third.

Keynan Middleton went two innings
after relieving Dugger. He gave up
two hits without a run and striking
out one. Wyatt Mills a local product
from Gonzaga made his debut after
being recalled from Tacoma. Mills
got all three batters he faced.

Catcher Jacob Nottingham who was
activated on Friday but never made
an appearance was designated for
assignment. We will see whether
going through waivers he will stick
in the Mariners organization or not.

Domingo Tapia who was recalled
from the alternate site when Marco
Gonzales was put on the injured list
made his Mariners debut as well.
Tapia gave up a couple hits in the
9th inning but no runs.

Dylan Moore drove in a couple runs
in the 8th inning for the Mariners and
Mitch Haniger hit a two-run homer
with JP Crawford on base to make
the final score 10-5. Haniger's home
run was his 7th on the season and his
second in two days. Who can say
all-star when it comes to Haniger.

Justus Sheffield starts Sunday afternoon
for the Mariners in the third game and
final of the series. We hope he has a
better outing than his last one and the
Mariners can take the series.

The Mariners will have a three-game
series beginning on Monday against
the Baltimore Orioles. The Mariners
haven't announced who the starter
will be since the spot was supposed
to be Marco Gonzales. The Mariners
will either have to acquire a starter or
bring someone up to take the spot or
go with the bullpen all the way. We
do remember the opener in 2019.
This will depend how well Sheffield
goes on Sunday. Go M's.
