Friday night 5-4. Chris Flexen pitched six
and one-thirds innings though he had a tough
night giving up four runs on ten hits. I knew
the game would come down to the bullpens
though Flexen lasted longer than I thought.
Since Flexen was able to get into the seventh
inning you can call him a battler. Flexen only
walked only one batter along with two strike
outs. Mariners had three double plays on the
night to help out.
Flexen gave up two runs in the first inning
then Dylan Moore hit a two-run home run
in the second. After the Rangers scored a
run in the second and third inning JP Crawford
hit a home run to tie again. The Mariners
scored the fifth run in the seventh inning when
Taylor Trammell hit a double followed by
a hit by Mitch Haniger.
Kendall Graveman shut the door in the 9th
inning striking out the side though he gave
up a double in the process. It was Graveman
fourth save on the season.
Kyle Lewis and JP Crawford were two who
had three hits on the night. Also, Ty France
had a hit after being in a slump. Hopefully,
he can do something tonight.
At triple A Tacoma the Rainiers won 8-2.
Logan Gilbert made his triple-A debut
going five innings, giving up one run on
four hits, no walks and striking out five.
On the Mariner broadcast Jerry Dipoto
says both Gilbert and Kelenic should be
up sooner than later. The Mariners want
both get in some innings and at bats to
do so. Most likely Kelenic will be up
soon.
Speaking of Kelenic as we do his watch
he had two hits in four at bats. After two
games he is batting .400. Not a bad start
for sure. He is still hitting around that
mark in a couple weeks can see him up
in Seattle. I would say around May 25.
Go M's and Rainiers.
