Tacoma Rainiers Season Opened

Finally minor league baseball opened up.
It was missed last year and now fans can
be at the games as well. Not at capacity
but at least some.

The Tacoma Rainiers lost the opening game
at Cheney Stadium against El Paso 7-6.
The game actually went 12 innings. El Paso
scored two runs in the top of the 12 while
the Rainiers were only able to come up with
one. Tough way to lose the opening game.

The Rainiers took the initial lead in the 5th
inning on a Jarred Kelenic home run then
tied again in the 7th inning with another home
run. I can hear many of the Mariner fans to
bring him up right now. It wouldn't surprise
if he brought up after the six games against
El Paso or wait until after the first road trip
to Salt Lake City or after the second home
stand. They wait until the second home stand
it would be May 25 when the series is over.
This would give Kelenic 18 games under his
belt. The Mariners have a homestand against
the Texas Rangers beginning on May 27.

Cal Raleigh the Mariners up and coming
catcher had a home run in the game with
the Rainiers as well. He had two hits on
the night. The Mariner hitting from the
catchers position is struggling as well so
might see him at the same time as Kelenic.
The Mariners though may want to stay
put for another month as well. Of course,
there could be injuries to cause change as
well.

The Mariners are now on a road trip where
they take on the Rangers in Texas. The
Rangers who are rebuilding as well got off
to a tough start however are 7-3 in their
last ten games. They had a total record of
16-17 placed fourth in the AL West. The
Angels who have struggled lately are in
last place. News came out to that future
hall of famer Albert Pujols was designated
for assignment by the Angels. Pujols is in
the last year of his contract. We see this
is the last of this great hitter or another
team will take a chance on him.
