Mariners Win Tuesday

Interesting to see the Mariners win late
on Tuesday in the same fashion they lost
on Monday.

The game was tied going into the 8th
inning 1-1. The Mariners had a hit
and two walks when Kyle Seager had
a sacrifice fly to bring the runner in
from third. Kyle Lewis up next hit a
three-run homer to put the Mariners
up 5-1. This was almost as good as
a grand slam and scored the same
amount of runs.

The Mariners scored first with a home
run by Kyle Seager in the 4th inning
then Justin Dunn gave up a home run
in the 5th tying the game at 1-1. Dunn
went only five and one-third innings.
Again he had control problems walking
four batters. Dunn is a good pitcher
outside of the walks and throwing too
many pitchers.

Kendall Graveman came in for Dunn
and went one and two-thirds inning.
He didn't give up a hit though walked
one and struck out one. Rafael Montero
came in gave up two hits but no runs
in the top of the top of the 8th.

Keynan Middleton was expected to
pitch the 9th inning but threw only
four pitches walking the batter.
Scott Servais along with trainer
came out and Middleton left the game.
Wouldn't surprise me if Middleton
goes on the injured list. We will
see before today's afternoon game.
I am sure Middleton won't pitch
Wednesday if he isn't on the injured
list and the  Mariners have Thursday
off.

Robert Dugger came in for Middleton
gave up two hits after fly out and
a strike out. The game ended with
a strike out as well.

Besides the two Kyles as game heroes
the Mariners had six hits total. Catcher
Luis Torrens had two hits and so did
Sam Haggerty. Both of their batting
averages are going up.  Ty France
has been struggling as of late with
his average now at .252.

Wednesday's game in the afternoon
will have Yusei Kikuchi for the Mariners
while John Means for the Orioles. Kikuchi
had his best outing of the season in his
last out. Means has a 3-0 record with
an ERA 1.70. We could see this game
end in the same way these two have.

The Seattle Mariners minor leagues
started games on Tuesday. So we will
keep an eye on them over the season.
The Everett Aquasox lost their opening
game 4-1 on the road in Hillsboro Oregon.

The Modesto Nuts won their opening game
at home 3-0 over Stockton. This is the
first of six games against Stockton.
Each series in May are six games.

The Mariners double-A team in Arkansas
lost their opener at home 7-4. The Tacoma
Rainiers don't open the season until Thursday
against El Paso at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma.
The state and Pierce County are going to
allow 50% capacity at Chey Stadium.
They to are playing six game series. So I
expect that is how it is working throughout
minor league baseball.
