Friday night lost the last game of
the series just like on Saturday. The
only difference they were blown
out 10-2.
Justus Sheffield went five innings
giving up ten hits along with seven
runs though five were earned. He
didn't walk a batter while striking
out five. Sheffield may have been
hit for having the ball to easy for
the hitter.
The Mariners right now have four
starters with injuries so making it
hard on the bullpen and there is
injuries there to. Ljay Newsome
is now the latest to go on the
10-day injured list. The Mariners
brought up JT Chargois from
Tacoma in Newsome spot. The
Mariners signed Chargois in
February. He last pitched in the
major leagues in 2019 with the
LA Dodgers. Chargois was on
the mound Sunday as the third
pitcher after Sheffield and Wyatt
Mills.
Mills pitched two-thirds giving
up three runs on two hits and two
walks. Wondering whether he is
ready for the majors or not we
will see until others return.
Rafael Montero who was expected
to be the closer has been up and
down over the 15 games he has
pitched in. He does have four
saves on the season. Sometimes
we see him as closer and other
times entering earlier. The same
goes for Kendall Graveman who
has closed as well. Montero had
to pitch against the team he was
traded from during the off-season.
Manager Scott Servais shook the
lineup once again for the second
game in a row. JP Crawford who
began spring training in the leadoff
spot was back there after hitting
well as of late including in Texas.
Sunday Crawford had a couple
hits. Mitch Haniger moved to
the number two spot followed
by Kyle Lewis and Kyle Seager.
Haniger and Lewis each had two
hits while Lewis and Seager drove
in both runs. Evan White who had
a great game Saturday was in the
eight spot where he had another
hit while scoring a run.
The Mariners decided to shift
Dunn and Kikuchi. Kikuchi will
start on Tuesday while Dunn on
Wednesday against the Dodgers.
This should give the bullpen
additional rest.
The Mariners thought they lost
twice in Texas is still 18-17. They
are in third place in the AL West
a half game behind Houston Astros.
The Oakland A's are first place
two games ahead of Houston.
The Rangers are half a game
behind the Mariners with 18-18
record. Go M's.
