Tom Murphy Might Be Sidelined

According to manager Scott Servais Mariner's
catcher Tom Murphy is not responding to his
injured foot. What that means he could end up
not being on the team when the season begins
on Friday.

If Murphy isn't ready to go then third string
catcher Joe Hudson likely will move up to
number two.

Austin Nola going into the season as the
backup catcher will than start the opening
game.

Depending on the status of Murphy's foot
on Friday Nola could start and Murphy
would be the backup and Hudson be on
the taxi squad heading to Houston.

Murphy isn't able to play for say ten days
he would then be put on the injured list.
This would be mean he wouldn't be able
to play in Houston or Los Angeles.

Murphy would have to wait until the
Mariners come home, however, he
still won't  be able to play in the first game
against the Oakland A's at home.

August 3 the final game against the A's
would be likely the first game he would
be able to play in if he is ready to go
after being inserted on the roster.

We may know this today when the team
has to announce the 30-man roster.
