afternoon beat the Seattle Mariners
8-5. The Astros won the series three
games to one.
Like the other two games this game
came down to the Astros having a
a couple big innings this time to win.
Again it came down to errors and walks
to give Houston extra opportunities to
win.
The Mariners scored first in the third
inning getting three runs including
Evan White's first career home run
in the major leagues. We hope one
of many.
Kyle Lewis had a couple more hits
though no home run. He was the
player of the series for the Mariners
batting .400 with two home runs.
Kyle Seager had another hit along
with driving in a run batting .313
for the series. Problem though
he had a fielding error in the game
too. Not a good series far as fielding
for Seager.
Kendall Graveman made his first
start in two years after having Tommy
John surgery. He started off pitching
well however gave up seven runs on
six hits. What looked good he did
strike out seven Astros hitters.
Now the Mariners will play in LA
against the Angels starting on Tuesday
in a three game series before facing
the Oakland A's on Friday at home.
The Angels like the Mariners lost
three out of four games on the road
at Oakland. So this series will show
who can turn things around.
Justus Sheffield will start his first
game of the season. If he can pitch
like he did in his last intrasquad start
the Mariners will have a good chance
in this game. In the intrasquad game
Sheffield didn't give up a hit in four
innings.
The Mariners will have to get things
corrected on the field when it comes
to defense. The Angels have the offense
to take advantage of any lapses the
Mariners may have.
