Mariners Offense Comes Alive

The Seattle  Mariners  offense came alive
early  on  in  the game allowing Marco
Gonzales  to pitch to his strength moving
the ball around.

A really  good  way to get the new road trip
started for sure. Julio  Rodriguez  who was
moved down to sixth in the  order on the
last ho e game in the lossto the Texas Rangers
was moved to the third spot. Julio  who now
is looking  better had three hits on the day and
driving in four runs including  a home run.
We could  see Julio  at the third spot for a while
as long as JP Crawford does the job in the lead
off spot. The importance is Crawford to get on
base early  in the game with a hit or walk.

The Mariners  scored one in the first inning and
then five more in the second on starter Matt Boyd
long time Tiger, Seattle  native who played  for the
Mariners  last year. Boyd only lasted an inning
and a third. Not only giving up five runs Boyd
walked four Mariners. AJ Pollock  who didn't get
a hit on the day did walk including taking nine
pitches. The Tigers had to use five relievers in
the game which should  give the Mariners an
advantage in the series.  All Mariners  hitters
had at least  one hit except Pollock. Kelenic
who had been in the third  spot recently  was
moved to  cleanup.

Final Mariners  9 Tigers 2

Marco went six innings  giving up the two runs
in the fifth inning on a homer. Marco now is 3-0
though his era is  over  4. I  would take it as long
as he is able to  go  at least five and the Mariners
win more times than not when he is on the mound.

Julio might be  over his struggles at the plate. We have
to see on this road trip.  Usually  how Julio goes so
does the offense.  Cal Raleigh who  hasn't  been too
well either had the  night  off. Tom Murphy has been
hitting  better lately.  We should see him behind the
plate against many lefties depending  how many they
face in a series.  The Mariners  have a day game Saturday
so should see Raleigh  behind the plate. The same should
go for Sunday as well.

Bryce Miller  will start Saturday's  game. Miller pitches
anything like he has so far the Mariners should win
as long as they score a few runs. Right now the bullpen
should  be  in good shape  too. The Mariners  now 19-19.
Be nice to see them get over the  .500 mark.  Facing a
righty we should see Taylor Trammell in the game  either
at dh or in the outfield.  Go M's.
