a lot of offense but enough to win 3-2.
Logan Gilbert again pitched well again
after getting in trouble early by giving
up a two-run homer to outfielder Seth
Brown in the first inning.
Gilbert was so effective he went 8
innings throwing 77 pitches with 59
being strikes. In all Gilbert gave up
three hits and only one after the first.
No walks and striking out 6. Paul
Sewald who continues not slowing
down struck out two batters and
recorder his eleventh save. Sewald
has an era 3.18. Look at that if Sewald
pitches an inning each time out which
he does most of the time he gives up
just over a run in every three games.
JP Spears the A's starter went only
five innings giving up three hits and
a run. Spears who has pitched well
against the Mariners you wonder he
had some issues since he threw only
59 pitches and 40 were strikes. He
could have gone another innings or
two easily.
Ty France returned to playing first base
after missing Wednesday nights game.
Ty was all the offense the Mariners
needed. He hit solo home runs in the
first and sixth inning to tie the game
and won in the 8th without having a
hit. In all the Mariners had five hits.
Julio Rodriguez had two and Teoscar
Hernandez had the fifth hit. It looks
like Julio is coming out of his slump.
The Mariners are now 26-24. They have
a three game series at home against
the Pittsburgh Pirates and the another
against the Yankees.
George Kirby starts Friday night and if
he pitches like he has the Mariners will
have a good shot at winning but won't
be easy as the Pirates start Mitch Keller
who has a record of 5-1 and an era of
2.44. We hope the Mariners will have
another one run victory. Go M's.
