Mariners Make A Deal

We have heard for much of the off season
the Mariners were looking trade for
infielder Brendon Donovan. Well it
happened on Monday.

The Mariners gave up third baseman
Ben Williamson to the Tampa Bay
Rays in the three team deal.  So does
that mean Donovan will start at third
or will it mean Colt Emerson. We will
see by the time spring training is over.
We wish the talented defensive third
baseman Williamson will do well in
Tampa.

The Cardinals end up getting starting
pitcher and first round pick in 2024
Jurrangelo Cijntje and outfielder
Tai Peete. Neither of them would have
cracked the Mariners roster any time
soon.

Donovan is a solid hitter and plays
good defense. He will likely hit
around 15 home runs and bat .275
or higher. He is versatile to play
second or third. Emerson could
be at third or shortstop.

Donovan is a left handed bat
just like Cole Young and Colt
Emerson so it won't be like
the three will platoon but
Donovan could give each a
day off. He might even play
the outfield on occasion.

JP Crawford is in his final season
and can be a free agent after this
season. How he does will determine
whether he returns or not. JP is
31 years old so he could have a few
good years remaining. We will see.
Go M's.

Mariners and Seahawks 2026

We know the Seahawks are going
to the Super Bowl next Sunday.
The winner likely will be the one
who plays the best defense and
the least turnovers. Also the
special teams will play a big part
too.

The Mariners begin spring training
four days after the Super Bowl.
Last year the Mariners missed
the World Series by one swing.
This year we are hoping a special
year they play and win the World
Series.

Having two teams make it to
the top of their sport in the
same year is very special.
Go Hawks and Mariners!

Rick Rizz announced that he
will retire after this season as
the play by play man on radio.
Let him go out on a good note.

Eugenio Suarez Signs With Reds

Eugenio Suarez who the Seattle Mariners
traded for at the trading deadline to
the Seattle Mariners for his second
duty and help them do to the 7th
game of the SL Championship series
became a free agent.

There was talk whether he would resign
with the Mariners however closer to
spring training which is less than two
weeks he ended up signing a one year
deal with the Cincinnati Reds for one
year for $15 million.

With the Reds he is expected to be
the dh however could play third
base or maybe first base on occasion.
The Reds who the Mariners picked
them up from the first time he came
to Seattle.

The Mariners for the most part will
have a right handed and left handed
dh.  When they give Cal Raleigh a
day off mostly against a lefty he
will dh. How often not knowing right
now though likely once a week. Later
in the season the Mariners will rest
him occasion and use him as a pinch
hitter. He has shown the last two or
three seasons he is the teams best
pinch.

On Saturday President of Baseball
Operations Jerry Dipoto at Fan Fest
hinted of sorts that Colt Emerson
and Ben Williamson could play on
at third base.  He certainly would like
Colt Emerson to make the team out
of spring training. The Mariners
could still make a trade right before
spring training too. Might sign
a free agent infielder at less
cost than Eugenio as well.

My thought is depending on how
the season goes the Mariners
could bring Eugenio back in
August and that could depend
on the Reds and Mariners. They
have traded with each a lot of
times.

Whether JP Crawford bounces
back or not we may see Emerson
at shortstop as well. Stay tuned.
Go M's.

Gonzaga Beats St. Mary's

The two best teams collided Saturday
night in Spokane  with Gonzaga beating
St. Mary's 73-65 in men's basketball.

The game was tight through much
of the game. The Zags pulled away
halfway in the second half going on
an 8-0 run.

Graham Ike who had missed several
games for the Zags scored 30 points.
He was 11 of 20 from the field including
three 3point shots.

The Zags shot 46.6 from the field while
St. Mary's shot 34 percent. St. Mary's
made ten more free throws than them.
Zags to keep them in the game.

The Zags are now 10-0 in West Coast Conference play while St. Mary's is
third at 8-2.  Santa Clara is second
at 10-1. There only loss was against
the Zags.

The Zags play Portland this coming
Wednesday in Portland. Go Zags.

Washington Huskies Win On The Road

The Washington Huskies losing to Illinois
Thursday were able go in and beat
 Northwestern 76-62 Saturday.

The Huskies defense made the big
difference and the Big Three for
them did the scoring. Hanes Steinbach
and Zoom Diallo both had 22 points
while Wesley Yates had 21.

Yates had 15 points in the first
half however he did well on defense
too. Northwestern got within  nine
points under seven minutes then
Diallo did his job making some key
shots. Steinbach made a three pointer
as well. This allow the Huskies keep
control. If the Huskies keep this up
they will be a threat down the stretch.

Steinbach had 14 rebounds as well.
Kepnang had 9 rebounds however
he had some key block shots too.

The Huskies come home to play
Iowa on Wednesday. Iowa is 5-4
in conference play.  They haven't
played well on the road so hopefully
the Huskies will take care of them.
Go Dawgs!

WSU Cougars Beat Portland In MBB

Washington State Cougars men's team
starting to get better after a slow start
on the season because of new roster
with the transfer portal.

WSU 104 Portland 74

The Cougars scored over 50 points in
both halfs. Portland had 31 points
in the first half and came out with
43 in the second half.

Eemeli Yalaho forward led the Cougars
with 26 points a career high. He shot
8 of 10 from the field as well as perfect
from the foul line with five.  He had
nine rebounds as well. The Cougars
had five players in double figures
including two off the bench.

The Cougars shot very well especially
in 3 point shots making 16 of 30.
Keep doing that they will win more
games.

The Cougars will play the Beavers of
Oregon State Wednesday.  This could
be a good game.

Isaiah Watts who transfered from
Washington State to  Maryland.
He is averaging 5.1 points a game.
He is playing 21 minutes a game
as a starter.

We will look at other former Cougars
who are still playing college basketball
games.

Go Cougs!

Mariners Lose Logan Evans For 2026

On Friday the .sriners announced that
pitcher Logan Evans had surgery on his
right arm and he will miss the whole
2026 season.

Last year Evans spent most of the year
triple A Tacoma however was called up
when Logan Gilbert went on the injured
list early on in the 2025 season.

Emerson Hancock started last season
in the rotation with George Kirby on
the injured list. He and Evans were the
6th and 7th starters.  Bryce Miller
missed some time as well. This year
Evans was expected to be the 6th
starter as Hancock was moved to the
bullpen. He is expected to be in the
bullpen to start this year.  I would like to see him be the long reliever to start 2026.
With Evans out Hancock could be the
6th starter once again although the
Mariners acquired a couple pitchers
who have some major league experience.
They will have Casey Lawrence again
at Tacoma if they need a starter for a
couple turns in the rotation.

We just hope the Mariners rotation
will stay healthy most of the year.
The rotation should be where each
starter goes at least six innings each
time out most of the time.  Like to
see Castillo and Kirby especially be
better this year year. Gilbert should
be back where he was and the same
goes with Bryce Miller.

The pitchers and catchers report on
February 12 for spring training. There
will be Munoz and Speier pitching
in the World Baseball Classic as well
as Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and
Josh Naylor so we will be seeing
more of youngsters during spring
training games.  Go Mariners.

Cougars Men Win Huskies Don't

The WSU Cougars beat Seattle U 70-58.
The Cougars best the Redhawks outscoring
by six points in each half.

The score was Cougars ahead by two points
around eleven minutes remaining of the
game when they took control. The Redhawks
had a good preseason however the WCC
being a tough conference hasn't been kind
to them.

The Cougars had three players scoring
in double figures while the Redhawks
had two.

Rihard Vavers led the Cougars with
24 points being the player of the
game.  He was hot making 8 of 10
in field goals.

Cougars next game will be home as
well playing Portland at home. Though
the Cougs got off to a hard start we
hope more success the rest of the way

The Washington Huskies lost to Illinois
on the road. Illinois is a pretty good
time. The Huskies will need to win
most of their games at home while
stealing some on the road which this
one wasn't one of them.

The Illini beat the Huskies  75-66.
The Huskies did better in the second
half where they were outscored by
only two points.

The Huskies shot 44.8 percent from
the field which was better than the
Illini. The difference they made more
3 pointers than the Huskies.

Impressive the Huskies shot 100
percent from the foul line. The
Illini though made five more free
throws.

Hannes Steinbach led the Huskies
with 15 points and 12 points. He
is the leader on the Huskies for
both. Wesley Yates back from
the injury list for two  games
had 13 points while Zoom Diallo
had 12.

The Huskies play Northwestern
on the road on Saturday. They have
a conference record of 2-8 so this
will be a good chance for the Huskies
to win. Go Dawgs!

Washington Huskies Football Going Forward

The Washington Huskies were looking
to bring in another quarterback even
after Desmond Williams Jr.  decided
to return. They have three quarterbacks
besides Williams but with no college
experience so Elijah Brown a transfer
from Stanford is now onboard.  He has
three years of eligibility left so he if
becomes the number two quarterback
he could be around all three years
though with the portal we never know.
Last season he ended up starting the
last three games for Stanford so that
is good.

Williams has two years of eligibility
left however we know now he could
leave after next season. Though he is
a talented quarterback his size could
keep him from going to the NFL until
his eligibility is up.  Off course we
don't know how long Coach Jedd
Fisch will be around either.

Let you know I am working on a
post about the top receivers who
have played at Washington over
the last several decades. Stay tuned.

The Washington Huskies men's
basketball team have a lot of talented
players however injuries I am sure
has cost them a few wins and the talent
in the talent in the Big Ten from
reaching the NCAA tournament.
I expect at least eight teams will
be in the tourenament. Michigan,
Michigan State, Nebraska and Illinois
the Huskies next opponent on
Wednesday should be in.

No matter what watch the Huskies
play whether win or lose.  Go Dawgs.

Seahawks Going To Superbowl

In two weeks the Seattle Seahawks
will be going to another Super Bowl.
This was quite an offensive explosion
by both teams although each had
some great defensive plays as well.

Final Seahawks 31 Rams 27

Sam Darnold may have had his best
game as a quarterback. All the doubts
on whether he could do it or not.
He threw three touchdowns to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jake Bobo and former Ram
Cooper Kupp out of Yakima Washington.
Rashid Shaheed  caught a 51 yard catch
to setup a touchdown.

Ken Walker III had the first touchdown
in the game. He carried the ball 19
time with Zach Charbonnett out with
injury. He won't be available for the
Super Bowl either.

Cornerback Woolen that had a key
penalty for taunting. The Rams made
a touchdown against him right after
that.  Personality I think he should have
been taken out for one play anyway. Still
they are going to the Super Bowl and
that is the main thing. Go Hawks!

Washington Huskies Men's Beat Oregon

The Washington Huskies beat the Oregon Ducks ending a three game losing. As
I have said before the Big Ten Conference
is a tough basketball conference. The
Huskies lost to Michigan, Michigan State
and Nebraska who most teams would
have lost too.

Sunday afternoon win Washington  72
Oregon 57.  The Ducks had lost five games
in a row coming into this game the
Huskies three last opponents.

The Huskies took 23 more shots than
the Ducks as well as making 12 more.
The Huskies had a good day in shooting
3s making 10 of 21 besides taking more
than usual.

The Huskies spread out the scoring with
five players  scoring in double figures
Diallo, Peterson and Jacob Ognacevic
each had 12 points. Steinbach and
Kepnang both had ten. These two
dominated in rebounds with 13 and
14 each.

Things won't get easier as the Huskies
take on Illinois on the road on Wednesday.
They are ranked #11 in the country.

WSU Cougars beat Pepperdine Saturday
95-79 at home.  Simon Hildebrandt led
the Cougars with 19 points. Ace Glass
had 18 points. In all the Cougars had
six players in double figures.  The
Cougars won because they ten more
3 pointers. Both teams shot over
50 percent from the field.

The Cougars next game will be at
home on Wednesday against
Seattle U.

Gonzaga beat San Francisco 68-66.
The Dons were down eleven at halftime
but made the game interesting. The
Zags again were without leading
scorer and rebounder Graham Ike
again.  Jalen Warley led the Zags
with 19 points. Tyon Grant-Foster
and David Fogle each had 15 points
off the bench.

The Zags don't play again until coming
Saturday at home against St. Mary's.
A tough opponent so hopefully Ike
will return.  Go Zags!

Seahawks at Home Against the Rams

The Seahawks have been playing
pretty good ball especially against
the 49ers. They beat the Rams
to become the number one seed.

The Seahawks are favored by a
field goal so we should expect
a close game. This could be better
than the Super Bowl.

The Seahawks defense has been
outstanding so they keep it that
way I see a victory. The key to
is the Seahawks running the ball
primary and not make many
turnovers.

The Seahawks lead going into the
fourth quarter will be a good sign.
It would be nice to have at least
a ten game lead going into the 4th.
Go Hawks!

Wednesday, January 21, 2026

Gonzaga Wins while Washington Loses

Gonzaga beat Pepperdine for the 51st
time in a row 84-60 at home Wednesday
night.

The Zags had five players who scored
in double figures with four coming off
the bench. Again they were without
Graham Ike along Braden Huff who is
out for a while. David Fogle freshman
guard led the Zags with 17 points off
the bench. Ismaila Diagne 7 ft center
in for Graham led with 10 rebounds
and only two points.

The Zags shot 47 percent from the
field while Pepperdine shot 34.7
percent. The Zags made 48 points
inside while Pepperdine only 26.
The Zags will play San Francisco
Dons on Saturday at home.

The Washington Huskies lost to
Nebraska on the road  76-66.
The Cornhuskers are undefeated
on the season so the Huskies
losing was expected.

Hannes Steinbach and Zoom Diallo
we're the two big players once again.
Hannes led with 21 points and 12
rebounds.  Zoom had 18. They were
the only two in double figures.

Jacob Ognacevic who had been out
with injury and recently came back
started his first game at power forward.
He had only five points. The Huskies
play Oregon at home on Sunday at
noon.

The WSU Cougars lost at San Diego
96- 92. They came back from being
down ten points in the first half.
Ace Glass  led the Cougars with
29 points and 7 rebunds. ND Okafor
had 21 points while Rihard Vavers
had 16 points coming off the bench.

The Cougars will look to win on
Saturday afternoon against Pepperdine
at home.

Seattle U won and now has a 14-7
record by beating LMU 69-59 by
getting off to fast start. They have
a 3-5 record in the West Coast
Conference and tied with the Cougars.

They take on Pacific on the road
Saturday. Next Wednesday they
play at Washington State.

The Cougars and Huskies Football Transfer Portal

The WSU Cougars had a strong group
who left when a coaching change
happen.

The Cougars were able to bring in 26
transfers while 37 went into the portal.
There are ten who didn't sign anywhere
when the portal closed on January 16.
The Cougars brought back most of
those who didn't sign anywhere which
is good. That allows for depth on the
team.  The Cougars had 15 players who followed Jimmy Rogers to Iowa State.
Unlike past years since the transfer
portal came alive there isn't another
one after spring practice so the Cougars
have what they got.

Quarterback Jaxon Potter who was one
of the first Cougars to port out even
before Jimmy Rogers left as head coach
is now at Old Dominion. I expect he will
be starter. He was the opening starter
in 2025.

The Washington Huskies had 11 transfers in while 21 entered the transfer portal. Only
Kevin Green Jr. and the Parker twins didn't
sign anywhere. They were late into the portal.
We will see whether they will return. The
Huskies didn't bring in any quarterback even after the whole issue with Desmond Williams
Jr.. It will be interesting to see who his
backup will be. We may not know until
after spring ball or during fall camp.

The Huskies chad five defensive lineman
who went into the portal including the
Parker twins. The Huskies brought in
three defensive lineman so that is equal
to who transfered out besides the Parkers.

The Huskies had three wide receivers besides
Greene who transfered out. Christian Moss
from Kennesaw State was the only wide
receiver to transfer in. The Huskies lost
Denzel Boston to the NFL draft. The Huskies
will have a competitive group there.

We will do more of a break down as time goes by.

Seahawks Will Go to NFC Championship Series

Saturday evening the Seahawks dominated
the San Francisco 49ers for the second
time in two weeks winning 41-6.

As the score indicates they dominated the
game.  It started with Rashid Shaheed
returning the opening kick off for a touchdown. Not long after that the
Seahawks caused a fumble to setup
another touchdown. The Seahawks
kicked a field to make a field to make it
17-0 before the 49ers were able to kick
a field goal themselves.

There was not much the 49ers offense
could do throughout the game. They
tried a few trick plays that for the most
part weren't successful. The Seahawks
pretty much went with their running game.
They didn't have to do much passing on
the day. A running game like this one they
aren't going to lose to often that is for sure.

Sam Darnold looked good despite his
injury. Fortunately he didn't have to test
it much. Half way in the 4th quarter
Drew Locke came in at quarterback.
He didn't have to do much either.

The Seahawks will play the winner
of Sunday's game next week at home
between the Rams and the Bears. I
am sure most of the Seahawks will
hope they play the Bears.

In men's college basketball the  UW
Huskies lost to the Michigan State at
home on Saturday  80-63. They were
down only by eight points at half time.
Again it is tough to play anyone in the
Big Ten. Zoom Diallo led the Huskies
with 18 points while Hannes Steinbach
had 17. The Huskies didn't get much
production from the bench.

On Friday Desmond Claude said he was
leaving the Washington program at least
for now for personal reasons. Most to
do with his recent injury.

Also in town Gonzag beat Seattle  University
72-50.  Graham Ike sat out the game. Mario
Saint-Supery cane off the bench with 20
points to lead the Zags.  The Zags shot
much better than Seattle U. and dominated
the rebounding as well.

The Zags next game will be home
against Pepperdine on Wednesday
night.  Seattle U. will be home the
same night against LMU.  The Huskies
play next Wednesday as well against
Nebraska on the road.

Gonzaga Beats WSU in Pullman

The Gonzaga Bulldogs beat the Washington
State Cougars in a state rival Thursday night
86-65. The Zags were without  Braden Huff
who was injured in practice with a knee.
He could miss the rest of the season.

The Zags now are going with three guards
in the starting lineup. Jalen Warley, Braden
Smith and Adam Miller, and all scored
in double digits. They will need to continue
as they did in this game to help out
Graham Ike who scored 23 points and
11 rebounds.

The Zags shot 50 percent from the field
while the Cougars shot 40.4 percent.
The Zags took more shots than the
Cougars. It could have looked worse
however the Cougars made more 3
pointers. The Zags made 52 points
inside while Cougs made only 14.
The big difference in the game.

The Cougars were led by Simon
Hildebrandt off the bench with
16 points. Ace Glass and Jerone
Morton each had 13 points. ND
Okafor got in early foul trouble
playing only 11 minutes and didn't
score a point.

Gonzaga will play at Seattle University
on Saturday. Seattle has struggled in
West Coast Conference however
beat San Diego 75-64.

The Cougs will play San Francisco
Dons on Sunday.

Michigan Beats Washington On the Road

The Washington Huskies men's basketball
team were beaten by the Michigan
Woverines Wednesday night 82-72.

Michigan is one of the top teams in
college basketball and had their first
loss of the season against Wisconsin
at home before going to Seattle so we
knew this would be a tough game to
win. It wasn't just the Woverines it was
the officials making it missing calls
on the floor.

The Huskies started their same lineup
as they did beating Ohio State however
they did have Desmond Claude and
Yesley Watts back though neither
had a big effect in scoring. Also forward
Jacob Ognacevic made his first appearance
of the season after sitting out with injury
up to this point. He scored 10 points in
16 minutes. We hope to see him make
more of a difference going forward.

Freshman guard JJ Mandaquit led the
Huskies coming off the bench with
15 points.  Hannes Steinbach though
he got into some foul trouble had 11
points along with 14 rebounds.
The Huskies shot only 34 percent
from the field which didn't help.

The Huskies next game will be against
Michigan State at home on Saturday. It
will be another tough opponent however
we hope the Huskies can win. Go Dawgs!

Washington Huskies and WSU Transfer Portal Continues

I wonder why some players stay while
others go..I can understand those who
are not getting as much playing time
as they like. The NIL and what the teams
can spend on players has to do with it.
Those who have high NIL along with
what they can spend as an athletic
department has a lot to do with it.
I still don't like colleges going after
players. If the players seek out colleges
that is different story. Anything seems
to go without teams being in trouble.
I hope that changes with Desmond
Williams deal where he is now back at
Washington. Stories are that he is
getting $4 million this coming season
which is ridiculous. Other college sports
need a hand in it two.

The Huskies have five defensive lineman
who entered the transfer portal including
the Parker twins who came during the
DeBoer era. So far the Huskies have
three defensive lineman who have trans-ferred in. We see how that goes. They do have incoming freshmen to so we will see.
Through the process into next season
we will see how each position works
out. Currently four wide receivers have
transferred out however none has come
in. With Denzel Boston declaring for
the NFL draft who is the number one
receiver have to look at that to.
Go Dawgs!

The Washington State Cougars have
37 transfers after Coach Jimmy Rogers
bolted to Iowa State.  They have done a
good job bringing in 21 transfers so
far. Five players have transferred in
from schools that were in the old Pac-12
as the Cougars become part of the new
Pac-12.

The Cougars have four offensive players
transfer in including quarterback Caden
Pinnick. The Cougars had three quarter-backs transfer out and starter Zevi Eckhaus has
graduated. Pinnick played at UC Davis and
last season threw 32 touchdowns and
10 interceptions.

Beau Phillips who played at Central Washington is listed as athlete for
the Cougars though for the Wildcats
he is listed as running back so we
will see where he plays for the Cougars.
They have three new wide receivers
and a tight end Jack Peterson from
UCLA.

Next time let you know about the
defensive players positions.
Go Cougs!

Washington Huskies Men's Beat Ohio State

The Washington Huskies despite injuries
and Desmond Claude away were able to
beat Ohio State Buckeyes Sunday 81-74.

The Huskies lineup was a bit changed
Bryson Tucker started after coming off
the bench when he returned from injury.
Quimiri Peterson started as well. The
Huskies went with three players up front
as well as Zoom Diallo and Peterson at
the guards.

The Huskies got off to a slow start however
the gym was close most of the way. The
Huskies were down by two at halftime
however controlled the second half. Zooms
made  some key shots in the second half.
He led the Huskies with 22 followed by
Hannes Steinbach with 21. Steinbach had
nine rebounds as well.

All five starters played over 30 minutes.
Only Peterson didn't score in double digits
and he had 8 points.  It was important
for the Huskies to win this one at home
as the Big Ten is a tough basketball
conference. We should expect quite
a few make the NCAA tournament
and we hope the Huskies to be one
of them.

Wednesday night the Huskies will
play against Michigan at home.
Michigan who were undefeated
lost to Wisconsin at home Saturday
night  91-88 so the Woverines will
look at beating the Huskies. The
Huskies are one of 13 teams in the
Big Ten with double digits in wins
so won't be easy either at home and
especially on the road. Go Dawgs!

Cougars Men Defeated By St. Mary's

The Cougars continue to struggle
this year. With a new group of
players it could take some time.
With the transfer portal it is hard
to know how long the players
will stay.

The Cougars were down by 18
points in the first half however
were able to fight back to make
it a game so that is hope.

Ace Glass led the Cougars with
24 points. ND Okafor has been
improving over the season and
now is a starter. He had 14 points
and  seven rebounds.

The Cougars shot well especially
in the second half shooting 54.5
percent so made more then St.
Mary's however they made more
3 point shots and free throws to
win.

The Cougars will play Gonzaga
at home this coming Thursday.
It will be important that they don't
get down like against St.Mary's
if they want to upset the Cougars.

Gonzaga and St.Mary's both are
undefeated with 5-0 in the West
Coast Conference.  Santa Clara
is 4-1 while  Cougars are next
at 3-2.  Go Cougs.

Gonzaga Beats Santa Clara Thursday Night

The Zags men's basketball team continues
to roll as they beat Santa Clara  89-77.

The game was tied at halftime however
the Zags took care of the second half.
The Zags shot over 56 percent in the
field. They actually took less shots
from the field than Santa Clara however
made six more which was the difference
in the score. Both made about the same
in 3 point shots. The Zags outscored
Santa Clara 50-34 inside.

For a team to beat the Zags they must
have a good side game or shoot good
at 3 pointers. So far Michigan is the
team to beat them inside.

Graham Ike dominated scoring 34 points
and 11 rebounds for the Zags.

The Zags next game will be next Thursday
at Washington State.   The Cougars take
on St. Mary's Saturday. See how they do.

Purdue Beats Huskies

For the second time this week the
Washington Huskies lost on the road.
It won't be easy in the Big Ten on the
road to win.

Purdue 81c Washington 73

Purdue got off to a good start however
the Huskies came storming back in
the second half.

Hannes Steinbach again led the Huskies
with 17 points.  He shot 7 of 11 from
the field. The Boilermakers were able
to stop him in rebounding where he  had
only 4.  Franck Kepnang had ten rebounds
to lead the Huskies.

Purdue shot better from the field though
neither did well on 3 point shots.

The Huskies next game will be home
Sunday playing Ohio State. It will be
important they win since they take on
Michigan next Wednesday also at
home. That will be a tough one for
sure to win  Go Dawgs.

Mariners Not Far Off From Spring Training

As we know time goes by fast and spring
training begins in five or six weeks.
The Mariners signed Josh Naylor short
after the world series was over.

The next guy up was trading catcher
Harry Ford to the Washington Nationals
for lefty reliever Jose Ferrer. The Mariners
made another move to the major league
roster by signing free agent outfielder/
first baseman Rob Refsnider to the roster.

Most of the Mariners move have been
for signing minor Leaguers who will be
invited to camp or guys picked up off
waivers. Wednesday the Mariners signed
veteran third baseman to a minor league
contract and invited to spring training.

There is word out the Eugenio Suarez
might sign a free agent contract with
Diamondbacks. The Mariners lost
Jorge Palanco to the New York Mets
in December.

This means the Mariners may have
to go after someone in a trade. There
have been tumors who that maybe.
Katel Marte and Brennan Donovan
have been the two main names.
Knowing Jerry Dipoto will the Mariners
get someone we would not expect
that would be better than either one
of them or be equal. We might see
soon.

Cole Young right now be the second
baseman and Ben Williamson at third.
Whoever they pick up play either spot
or both. Will the Mariners trade any
major leaguers or just prospects.
We do know thesriners need to improve
at utility player as well. Is Colt Emerson
start in the majors as well. Stay tuned
to see. The answers may not be far off.
Go Mariners!

Washington Huskies and WSU Cougars Transfer

The transfer portal for the college football
ends in ten days on the 16th. The exception
would be for those players who end up
playing for the national championship.
They have from January 20th to the 24th.

The Washington Huskies have brought
in three players while losing 12. There
are thoughts the Huskies may have
ten players come in by the deadline.
We will see. For a team that had a 9-4
record seeing that many transfers does
seem a bit high though most of the
players leaving were in back roles.

The most well name leaving was Adam
Muhammad though a back up this year
was expected to be the starting running
back on next year's team or sharing the
role anyway. Why he left we may not
know however he is going to the California
Golden Bears. There is a possibility that
the Golden Bears offered him more NIL
money too. The Huskies will miss him
no matter who becomes the starting back.

Another leaving was wide receiver Raiden
Vines-Bright. I thought he might go back
to his home state of Florida instead is
going to Arizona State instead. Defensive
lineman Bryce Butler is going to Texas Tech.
Deven Bryant linebacker is going to USC
Trojans. That leaves eight more players
to go elsewhere.

Now word quarterback Desmond Williams
Jr. has now decided to enter the portal
after agreeing to coming back. Stay tuned.

The Washington State Cougars had 30
players who went into the transfer portal.
Right now ten have followed Coach Jimmy
Rogers to Iowa State. Eight on defense
plus kicker and one offensive lineman.

They have five transfer in so far. Four defensive players and wide receiver
Tank Hawkins from Florida Gators.
See who elseoved in or the ones
who have moved out.  Go Cougs!

WSU Beat Oregon State While Washington Loses

The Washington Statr Cougars have had
a rough season so far in men's basketball
however they were able to rival Oregon State
 Beavers  on Sunday.

Final Cougars 81 Beavers 67

The Cougars started off on a 9-0 start
the Beavers were a me to go on a run
close it to 14-12  however after that it
was all Cougars. The Cougars led at 14
at half time.  Both schools scored the
same amount of points in the second
half but the Beavers never got closer.

The Cougars shot slightly better on
the field however they made the
same amount of 3s at 9. The difference
was the Cougars out rebounded the
Beavers and made more inside shots
to win.

Freshman Ace Glass led the Cougars
with 16 points. He shot 7 of 15 from
the field however only made one of .
seven of 3s. In all four of the five
Cougars scored in double figures.

The  Cougars are now 3-1 in the West
Coast Conference but games won't get
easier. They take on St. Mary's next
Saturday who are 4-0 in the conference.
The following Thursday take on Gonzaga
in Spokane..

The Washington Huskies had to play
Indiana who is a good team. The
Huskies were able to make it a game
for a while.  The Hoosiers end up
winning 90-80.

The Hoosiers won because they made
more  3s than the Huskies who didn't
shoot well..Hannes Steinbach led the
Huskies with 20 points and  10 rebounds.
His father is visiting Hannes from Germany.
He played basketball as well. The Huskies
had five players who scored double figures.
Not much support otherwise.

The Huskies play next at Purdue on
Wednesday. Go Dawgs!

Seahawks Win Take Number One In NFC

The Seattle Seahawks ended the dominance
by the San Francisco 49ers by beating
them 13-3.

It was pretty much the defense doing
the job though the offense was able
to get it done primarily running the ball.

Kenneth Walker III led with 97  yards
on 16 carries while Zach Charbonnett
had 17 carries for 74 yards and the
lone touchdown in the first quarter.

Sam Darnold completed 20 of 26 passes
for 198 yards though no interceptions.
He had to recover an almost turnover
when he was tripped.  Jaxon Smith-Njigba
made some impressive catches where
he caught six though no touchdowns

The Seahawks defense were the main
reason they won. Christian McCaffrey
had only 23 yards on 8 carries.

Now the Seahawks wait to see who
they play after having a bye in the
first round. Congratulations Hawks!

Gonzaga Almost Upset Narrow Win By WSU

Seattle Redhawks looked like they
would upset Gonzaga Friday night
however  the Zags did s great job
to win the game. The Redhawks
were ahead by 14 before the Zags
made their move. Both teams
being rivals I was really hoping for
sn upset. This could be another
wake up call for the Zags.

The game actually went into
overtime before the Zags won.
They outscored Redhawks 15 to
7. The final 80-72.

Braden Huff and Graham Ike were
the leaders in scoring once again.
Huff had 28 points while Ike 24.
Ike also had 10 rebounds as well.
Ike came off  the bench though
played many minutes.  Tyon
Grant-Foster came off the bench
to with 19 points.  They contributed
the most.

The Cougars won by two points over
LMU. The Cougars are struggling this
season with a new group of players.
Playing in a tough conference like the
West Coast Conference doesn't help.
Final WSU 78 LMU 76

The  Cougars shot 50.9 percent from
the field however I outscored them
inside. The Cougars had four players
scoring in double figures. They were
led by Rihards Vavers with 17 off the
bench.Next game will be against Oregon State at home on Sunday afternoon.
The Zags play  LMU  Sunday.

The Washington Huskies play at Indiana
Sunday as well.

Mariners Make A Deal
