Seahawks Free Agency so far 2026

In recent days with free agency beginning
they have made a few moves so far
Ken Walker III was not resigned and
went to the Kansas City Chiefs. He said
in press conference he wasn't happy
about his playing time during the 2025
season. Of course they had Zach Charbonnett as well before he was hurt during the
playoffs.  The MVP of the Super Bowl
I can understand his frustration. The
question to is did they use him right as well.
He should have been used in the passing game a bit more too.

The Seahawks signed Green Bay Packers
running back Emmanuel Wilson. He is big so
likely do Zach work until he is ready. George
Halini may have the job starting. Seahawks
may draft a running back in the second draft

More Seahawks news later. Go Hawks!

Mariners End Losing Streak and Zags Go To Portland

The Seattle Mariners ended their
losing streak beating the Cincinnati
season on Sunday 6-3. George
Kirby said that the Reds were
aggressive against him. He went
four and two-thirds innings giving
up two runs.

Andre Munoz was back from the
WBC. He pitched the sixth and
struck out three. Matt Brash pitch
two-thirds of an inning and struck
out two.

Randy Arozarena was back too. He
batted second. No hits but two walks
and scored a run.  Brendan Donovan
had a big day going four for and driving
in three runs. He could be difference
this coming season for the Mariners.
The Mariners big inning was the fifth
where they scored five runs

The Mariners won't play on Monday
and Tuesday they will have split
squad games. With United States
and Dominican Republic playing
Sunday night in the semis they
will have someone back on
Tuesday.

In the NCAA tournament Gonzaga
will be the number three seed in
the West region and play Kennesaw
State number 14 on Thursday in
Portland. I am sure the Zags will
have a big crowd on hand. Go Zags!

Angels Beat Mariners Saturday

Again the Mariners lost 6-2 this time to
the Angels. Logan Gilbert put in his
tine. He went 2 and 2/3 innings. He
gave up six hits and two runs. I am sure
he was working on some things. The
importance is getting ready for the
season.

Come Young is looking good including
a couple hits and has done so the last
week or so. Colt Emerson had a
couple hits too.  Leo Rivas started at
third base. Last season he didn't play
third at all. Most likely he will be the
Mariners utility player so getting some
reps at third is a good idea. We still
not sure how JP Crawford is really
doing. Hard to know whether Colt
Emerson will start the season in
Seattle or not.

During the season we will give you
the stars of the game and how guys
are doing.  We are hoping to see
whether Julio Rodriguez gets off
to a good start. With Cal Raleigh
now being the franchise player
and the Mariners signing Josh
Naylor to  a free agent contract
for five we are hoping that Julio
can be himself. Now at 25 years
old he is starting to see maturity
and we hope to see his best season
coming forward. Looking at his
stats they all look good but most
of what he has done has been after
the all-star break at least offensively.
Julio has been steady playing defense
all the way. We are hoping a good
season beginning the regular season
that starts in less than two weeks.
Go M's.

Mariners Lose Friday To Dodgers

Kade Anderson got off to a rough
start in his third start of the spring.
He gave up a three run homer to
former Mariner Teoscar Hernandez.
Kade settled down after that going
three innings and not giving up
another run.

The Mariners actually tied the game
in the second inning. The game was
silent until the sixth inning when the
Dodgers scored six runs. It started
with new Dodger Kyle Tucker hit a
solo home run off of reliever Robinson
Ortiz who ended up giving up four the
runs without recording an out.

The Mariners scored a single run in
the 7th.  The Dodgers scored their
final run in the top of the 9th.
Colt Emerson hit a three run homer
in the bottom of the 9th to make it
closer than it really was.

The Mariners will play the Angels
Saturday afternoon in their park.
Logan Gilbert will start for the
Mariners.

The United States beat Canada
7-5 in the WBC.  The Canadians
did have the tying runs on second
and third in the 7th inning however
United States didn't allow another
run.

The United States will take on
the Dominican Republic on Sunday.
Go USA.

Chicago Cubs Beat Mariners Thursday

The Cubs beat the Mariners 7-4 on
Thursday.  Emerson Hancock went
four innings giving up four hits
and two runs He didn't walk a batter
once again however struck out five.

Pitcher Josh Simpson gave up three
runs in the 7th to make the difference.
At this point it doesn't look good
for him as the Mariners don't have many openings in the bullpen.

Minor league player for the Mariners Colin
Davis had the big hit having a three run
homer in the 8th.

The Mariners take on the LA Dodgers
Friday night in Peoria. The starting
pitchers are not announced yet

With Mexico out of WBC we should
be seeing Andre Munoz and Randy
Arozarena soon. Munoz pitched the
final inning Wednesday. He should be
in camp soon but his next outing we
will see.  Go Mariners!

Narrow Loss By Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies had to make
another comeback to have a chance
to beat a very good team in Wisconsin.
The odds 8 against them since they
had only seven healthy players. The
Badgers beat the Huskies 85-82 after
Washington had to come back from
another double digit deficit.

Freshman Hannes Steinbach led the
Huskies with 25 points and 16 points.
Most likely the Huskies season has
ended. Steinbach was the Huskies
best player. He was named third team
in  Big Ten and first team freshmen.
Expect Steinbach not to return since
word is he will likely be a lottery pick
in the NBA. We thank him so much.
One of the best freshmen the Huskies
have.

Zoom Diallo had 24 points. Both he
and Steinbach made ten field goals.
Quimari Peterson had 14 points. A
senior he average nine points. Some
of the season Peterson did a good
job coming off the bench then injuries
happened where he became more
value. The Huskies will have to see
where they can pick up someone
to take his spot.

Wesley Yates had only six points
making one out of  six shots. Had
he made two more shots they may
have won but I wouldn't li that on
him. Yates and Diallo should be
key players next season going in
as juniors.

Courtland Muldrew a freshman had
eight points and playing 31 minutes.
He played limited action being in 18
games.  JJ Mandaquit another freshman
who missed this game played in 22 games
and average 5.2 a game. He started some
games early on in the season.  Both
these two could be keys to next year's
team as well if they return.

Having more healthy team next year
will be good. Playing in the Big Ten
isn't easy.  Go Dawgs!

Wednesday Mariners Lose To Colorado

The Seattle Mariners lost to the
Colorado Rockies Wednesday
11-7.

Luis Castillo started and three
and a third innings. He gave up
one run on two hits. Matt Bradysde
his first appearance of the spring
giving up run. He should be ready
when the season begins.

Seven of the runs happened when
the Rockies scored off of Casey
Lawrence who likely played for the
Rainier's in Tacoma. He adds depth
in case the Mariners need a starter
or reliever during the season.
There are others ahead of him but
he could come up for one appearance
if necessary.

Cole Young was the Mariners player
of the game having three hits include
a home run and driving in three. He
batted 7th  in the order. JP Crawford
made his second appearance
at shortstop in the spring where he had
a couple of hits while batting 6th.

Emerson Hancock will start Thursday
for the Mariners on Thursday. Go M's.

Washington Huskies Beat USC in Overtime

The Washington Huskies had beaten the
USC Trojans twice before this one in
the Big Ten Tournament.  The Huskies
are shorthanded having only seven
scholarship player available because
of injuries.

The Trojans led most of the first half
and at a time led by 15 points. It look
a bit hopeless though the Huskies
did well in the second half getting back
to a tie.

The Trojans did a good job on Hannes Steinbach as he had ten points with
seven in the first half. He did have eleven
rebounds so another double. Zoom
Diallo led the Huskies with  22 points.
He shot seven for 20.  Wesley Yates
and Quimari Peterson each had 15.
Peterson made all his points behind the
3 point line going five for ten.

The Huskies will take on number five
Wisconsin on Thursday again at 11:30
am. Go Dawgs

Mariners Beat Royals Tuesday Gonzaga Men Win Too

The Seattle Mariners won a close spring
training game in Peoria Tuesday afternoon
4-3.  The Mariners have another season
of games with the winner by one run it
is a good idea to start in spring. We do
hope more wins with at least two run
difference with the Mariners winning
but we can take we can get.

Cooper Criswell had his second outstanding
game starting in a row for the Mariners.
Criswell went three and one-third innings
giving up two hits, no runs, no walks and
five hits.  He won't be in the starting rotation
unless  there are injuries.  He could be a
reliever starting the season. If so he would
be a long reliever. Emerson Hancock though
right now looks to be the first guy to start
if the Mariners need a starter.

The  Mariners scored a run in the second
inning and two more in the fourth.  The
Royals tied the game on a three run
home run in the sixth inning off a Mariners
minor leaguer. The Mariners scored the
4th run in the bottom of the sixth.

The Mariners bottom of the order did
most of the damage.  The four runs
didn't include any home runs.

The Mariners play the Colorado Rockies
Wednesday in Peoria. No scheduled
starting pitcher as of yet however the
Mariners could start Kade Anderson
once again. If so we could Ryan Sloan
pitch as well. Go Mariners!

In college men's basketball Gonzaga beat
Santa Clara in the West Coast Conference
championship game  79-68. The game
wasn't as easy as the score shows.
Santa Clara led by four points at halftime.
The Zags didn't take the lead until
halfway in the second half.

Mario Saint-Supéry led the Zags with
21 points. What helped the Zags as
he made 6 of 12 shots all 3 point shots.
That doesn't happen often especially
on the Zags. Tyon Grant-Foster came
off the bench with 20 points. He made
seven of eleven from the field but only
two out of three from three point line.
Graham Ike the team's leading scorer
on the season had 15 points. Santa
Clara was able to stop Ike with having
four rebounds but the rest of the
players made up for it.

Winning the West Coast Conference tournament the Zags qualified for the
NCAA tournament. We will find out
on Sunday who will play in the
tournament.

Washington Huskies play USC Trojans
in the Big Ten Tournament first round
Wednesday morning at 11:30 am.
The Huskies beat the Trojans twice
on the season so see if they can do
it a third time.  Huskies are the 12th
seed while Trojans are 13. Go Dawgs!

Gonzaga In WCC Tournament Championship

Gonzaga men's beat Oregon State
in the semifinals of the WCC
Tournament Monday 65-56.
They play Santa Clara who beat
St. Mary's in an upset 76-71.

The Zags led by 14 at halftime.
The closest the Beavers got
in the second half was ten points.
The Zags shot 48.2 percent from
the field while the Beavers shot
33.8. Neither team shot well from
beyond the 3 point line. Most of
the season the Zags were not a
good 3 point shooting team.

Graham Ike had 24 points for the
Zags. He made 10 of 17 from the
field. Ike had 11 rebounds as well.
No one else scored in double figures.
The Beavers had two  players  in double
figures scoring.  Together they had
one more point than the Zags.

Santa Clara shot better than St.Mary's
from the field. The difference was three
point shooting. Only kept St. Mary's
in the game was foul shooting.

The Zags defense will have to stop
Santa Clara from making 3 point shots.
Go Zags!

Seahawks Free Agency and Mariners Lose Monday

The Seahawks ended up losing Ken
Walker III  as expected and it was
to the Kansas City Chiefs who signed
him to a three contract. If it wasn't
for the loss of Zach Charbonnett for
next season to injury it may not have
been as big of a deal.  We do hope
we see Zach before the end of next
season.

The Seahawks lost a couple of defensive
players to including defensive back
Colby Bryant to the Chicago Bears.
He did quite well moving from corner
to safety as  well as staying healthy.
The beginning of his career he had the
problem being healthy.

The Seahawks resigned cornerback
Josh Jobe to a multi year contract
as they did punt returner/wide receiver
Rashid Shaheed.  The contract for
Shaheed was $17 million a year. Expect
the Seahawks use him in multiple ways.
We might see him more out of the
backfield though his punt returner can
make big difference in field position.

The Seahawks likely lose a few more
and add as well. They will likely sign
or trade for a running back. Drafting
a running back possibly in the second
round is a possibility.

In baseball the Mariners lost Monday
afternoon in walkoff fashion to the
Diamondbacks 2-1. Arizona had a
runner on second with two outs when
pop fly went beyond Colt Emerson
at short. The game would have ended
in a tie otherwise.

Bryan Woo started the game for the
Mariners and was happy with his
outing.  Woo went four innings give
up one run in the 4th inning. Brendan Donovan did well getting two hits
in the game. He is looking good
so far. JP Crawford made his first
start at shortstop in the spring. We
hope he will be ready to go when
the season begins. Go M's.

George Kirby Looks Good In Mariners Loss

The Seattle Mariners lost to the
Milwaukee Brewers Sunday afternoon
6-3.

The Mariners scored first on a Leo
Rivas two run homer in the second
inning. Rivas at this point looks
like to be their utility player.  He
likely play second and shortstop
most of the time. Shortstop would
depend on whether Colt Emerson
is on the opening day roster or not.
Even if Colt starts the season in
the minors he will be on the Mariners
at some point in the season.

George Kirby started and pitched three
plus innings giving up two hits including
a double in the fourth to the first hitter.
Troy Taylor who is struggling came in
to replace Kirby. He got an out then
gave up a single that drove in a runner
that was recorded as a run to Kirby.
Troy then gave up a three run home run
before being lifted. He was given the
loss in the game.

Josh Simpson who the Mariners
acquired from the Miami Marlins
during the off-season gave up two
runs on two hits and two walks.

Brennan Davis hit a solo home run
for the Mariners in the sixth inning
to end all the scoring. David is having
a good season. Most likely he will
start the season in triple A however
if the Mariners have any injuries in
the outfield we may see him this
season.

The Mariners take on the Arizona
Diamondbacks Monday afternoon in
Scottsdale with Bryan Woo on the
mound. Go M's

Washington Huskies Lose Final Regular

The Washington Huskies men's basketball
team game Saturday was a bit crazy at
Oregon and in the end lost 85-79.

The Oregon Ducks got hot right off
the bat making 7 of 7 outside the
three point line. This allowed them
to be ahead by 21 points in the middle
of the first half. They led the Huskies
by 14 at half time.

The Huskies went on a 29-8 run in
the second half to take a three point
lead with 28 seconds left in the game.

The Ducks won primarily because Huskies head coach Danny Sprinkle went crazy when Hannes Steinbach had to foul after a ball
was stolen with three seconds left in the
game. Sprinkle thought that Steinbach
was fouled then was charged with two
technical fouls. The Ducks ended up
making five of six foul shots for the
victory.  It shows how important to
keep your cool.

Steinbach led the Huskies with  26 points
and 13 rebounds. He led the charge when
the Huskies went on their run despite
having three fouls during most of that
time.  Steinbach is tied for second in
double doubles in the nation with 20.
A major reason he is likely going to be a
lottery pick in the upcoming NBA draft.

Now both the Huskies and Ducks will
have to see what their pairing will be
in the first round of the Big Ten Tourn-
ament coming up next week. The Huskies
actually have a better record than the
Ducks so they likely will be set higher.

Michigan has the regular season title
followed by Michigan State, Nebraska,
Illinois and Wisconsin making the top
five in the conference. Those five
should make the NCAA tournament.
The Huskies real chance is winning
the Big Ten Tournament. Go Dawgs!

White Sox Beat Mariners Saturday

I have to say if the Mariners going to
lose to the White Sox spring training
is the best time.

Logan Gilbert pitched well going
four innings and not giving up a
run and only two hits. Carlos Vargas
went an inning and gave up the
first run. Jose Ferrer went an inning
without giving up a run. The rest of
the pitching was minor leaguers.

Though not much scoring going on
Brendan Donovan had a couple hits.
Mitch Garver started at catcher and
had a hit. Still not sure who will be
the backup catcher. Dan Wilson
would like to see Cal have more
rest behind the plate this season.
At this point the offense from the
back up catcher does not look
like a whole lot.

The Mariners play Milwaukee on the
road Sunday.  The time change means
the game will be at 1 pm on radio only
George Kirby will start for the Mariners.

In college men's basketball the Washington State Cougars lost Friday night against
Portland 74-68.  Portland's big win was
earlier over Gonzaga. It has been not a
good season for the Cougars. It will be
interesting to see what happens over
the off-season with the transfer portal.
The Cougars will be playing in the new
Pac-12. Gonzaga should be the one
favored next season. Go Cougs!.

The Washington Huskies play final regular
season against the Oregon Ducks Saturday
night. Ducks have done well recently so
could be tough game to end the regular
season. Go Dawgs!

Seattle Mariners Bounce Back Friday

The Seattle Mariners beat the Texas
Rangers on their spring training field
5-1. It was way different than Thursday
game which is overstated.

Cole Young was the player of the
game for the Mariners with two
home runs and three rbis. The
Mariners want to be sure he hits
more fast balls. I figured he listened.

Kade Anderson started and went three
innings and gave up one hit and no
walks. Emerson Hancock continues
having a good spring training. He
went three innings giving up three
hits, one run, no walks and four strike
outs. The Mariners used Robinson
Ortiz a lefty they acquired from the
LA Dodgers last November. He could
be the third lefty. Most likely he will
be the eighth reliever if he makes
the opening roster.

Logan Gilbert starts Saturday against
the White Sox. With the time change
on Sunday the afternoon games will
begin right after 1 pm.  Go M's.

Mariners Blown Out Thursday Afternoon

The Seattle Mariners were more than
blown out though that was a good
word since the winds were high
on Thursday afternoon. When you see
the score a good reason for a mercy
rule in even major league baseball.

Final Padres 28 Mariners 6

This was the second most runs ever
in a major league spring training
game. The Mariners were close too.

Luis Castillo to who started gave up

six runs in the second inning. Minor
leaguer Tyler  Cleveland gave up
five runs. Both got out only one run.
The Mariners gave up one more run
yo finish the inning. The Mariners
actually got two runs in the bottom
of the second. The Mariners ended
up using nine pitchers with each
giving up at least one run.

I thought maybe Raley and Robles
would play however only Raley did
with three at bats but no hits.
About it for that game. We hope for
better conditions and pitching.

Friday the Mariners take on Texas
in the afternoon. Kade Anderson
will make his second start for
the Mariners. See how far he goes
this time. Go M's.

Huskies Win Big Wednesday Night

Wednesday night was the final home
game of the season. The Washington
Huskies men's basketball team dominated
the second half scoring 51 points
to the USC Trojans 29 points.

Final Washington 91 USC 72 points

Zoom Diallo led Huskies with 26 points
making 11-19. Freshman Hannes Steinbach
who likely played his last game at home
scored 22 points and dominated with 24
rebounds.  Steinbach is expected to be a
lottery pick coming up in the next NBA
draft .

The Huskies shot 48.1 percent from the
field while the Trojans shot 37.5.
The score could have been worse however
the Trojans made ten more than the
Huskies at the foul line.

The Huskies final regular season game
will be Saturday on the road against the
Oregon Ducks.  Go Dawgs!

Mariners Lose Wednesday Night

Right now we know that spring training games don't have a lot of meaning
except for those are trying to make
the teams.

San Francisco Giants won 9-4

With several position players along
with relievers Andre Munoz and Gabe
Speier are in the World Baseball Classic.
Action on that has started.

Cooper Criswell who the Mariners
signed during the off-season started
and had his best outing so far went
three innings giving up two hits and
no runs. He makes the opening roster
he likely will be the seventh of eighth
reliever to begin with.  He is considered
one guys to start if one of the Mariners
five starters go down with an injury.

Currently Emerson Hancock is considered
the first pitcher to go into the rotation
if a starter does go down. His experience
being in the bullpen in September gives
him an edge starting there when the season
begins. We have no idea what the Mariners
are thinking in that regard. Really doesn't
look like a lot of candidates besides Hancock
and Criswell are being impressive in camp
among relievers. Both making opening
day roster we could see them go at least
a couple of innings in each outing if necessary.

The Giants runs were off Carlos Vargas
and Jose Ferrer for the most part. Both
are expected to be on the opening roster.
Vargas job again will be coming in the
sixth or seventh inning. He had a lot of
appearances last year being in 70 innings.
A lot of that happened because the Mariners
had trouble with the seventh and eighth
spots in the bullpen. We hope a change
there this coming season.

Ferrer who the Mariners acquired when
they traded catcher Harry Ford to the
Washington Nationals. Ferrer is expected
to be the second lefty to Gabe Speier.
Depending when Speier is needed we
could see Ferrer sometimes in the 8th
inning or possibly close on occasion
when Munoz isn't available. This I
expect would depend on how many
left handed hitters will be up. Matt
Brash is expected to be the main
reliever in the 8th and occasion in
the 9th. All depends how close the
game is.

As far as position players go Cole
Young started at second base and
led off. I am sure the Mariners wanted
him to get enough at bats. He had a
hit and drove in one of the Mariners.
JP Crawford who has been dealing
with his arm in spring was the dh
having a couple at bats. He didn't
have a hit although he did drive in
two runs. Leo Rivas who is expected
to be the utility player started at shortstop.
If JP is able to be started at short when
the season begins we could see Rivas
playing some there early on along with
second base. We hope that JP injury
doesn't continue to bother him early
on which could see Colt Emerson in
the lineup at short.

Brendan Donovan is expected to start
at third however if Emerson does start
the season with the Mariners we could
see him at third as well as shortstop.
We won't know more for two more weeks
when we are close to the opener.

With Julio Rodriguez and Randy Arozarena
being in the WBC Classic the Mariners
went all with minor leaguers. Dominic Canzone is also playing for team Italy
in the WBC. Luke Raley and Victor Robles
who are in camp didn't play against the
Giants. Could see both in Thursday game.

Wednesday night former Mariner Robbie
Ray started for the Giants. He went two and two-thirds giving up two hits and a run.
He is expected to be in the Giants rotation.

Thursday afternoon Luis Castillo is expected
to start against the San Diego Padres.
Let you know how it goes.

Former Washington Husky Dealt To Rams

The Kansas City Chiefs traded cornerback
Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams.
McDuffie left the Huskies after three
years and was drafted by the Chiefs in
the first round.

McDuffie was a excellent punt returner
for the Huskies as well as cornerback.
He is going into his last season of his
rookie contract and word is the Rams
will sign him to long term contract too.

The Rams traded their 2026 first round
pick and  three other picks to the Chiefs.
Missing the playoffs for the first time
in several years the Chiefs look to be
rebuilding in a way. McDuffie was hurt
and missed the end of the season.
The Rams obviously feel he is worth
the risk.

The Rams know that the Seahawks
are a young team and though the
Super Bowl champion could be the
leader of the  division the next few
years though could lose a few free
agents.  The Seahawks are expected
to sign wide receiver Jaxon Smith-
Njigba during the off-season to a
long term contract. This is likely
the reason the Rams picked up
McDuffie.

For the Huskies fans means seeing
McDuffie at least twice a season
and we hope in the playoffs as well.
The matchup between Jaxon and
Trent could be great.  Go Hawks!

Woo Starts However Mariners Lose

Bryan Woo went two and a third
innings on Tuesday afternoon for
the Mariners.

First couple innings he did fine.
Had a walk and four strike outs.
A minor leaguer coming in first
to finish the inning hasn't helped.

The Angels won 7-6 however had
three runs in the ninth inning off
of minor league pitching as well.

JP Crawford made his first appearance
since the beginning of training camp.
JP dh had two at bats including a
walk. Mitch Garver caught as well.
He had one hit. Not sure he will
open the season with the Mariners
but we could see him at some point.

The Mariners have a night game
on Wednesday at the San Francisco
Giants. They won't have another
night game until March 13 against
the LA Dodgers. Go M's

Monday, March 2, 2026

Seattle Seahawks Going Forward

The Seattle Mariners are not playing
Monday in spring training as one of
two days off. So here we go on the
Seahawks.

Winning the Super Bowl a team can't
go higher though I am sure they will
try to be better so they can repeat as
champions which is never easy.

The Seahawks will likely lose a few
players to free agency and who knows
maybe retirement or releases.

Ken Walker III who was the MVP of
the Super Bowl could be one of those
guys. All comes down to how much
another team is willing to pay him.
They do have a few on defense as well
but with the defense they have  they
should find away to still be good.
They might have to replace but we
will see that over the season.

Zach Charbonnett was hurt in the
first game of the playoffs and might
not play at all next or if he does will
be late in the season. He would have
been the starter otherwise.

The Seahawks have other running
backs however no one they would
consider being a starter or would
have seen more action in the playoffs.
If Walker does go elsewhere the
Seahawks will go out and find someone.

Both Walker and Charbonnett were
second round picks so even bringing
in another running back they may take
another on in the second round of
sooner.

There is talk that the Seahawks may
draft another wide receiver in the
first round to go with Jaxon Smith-
Njigba.  Cooper Kupp is expected
back and he would be good to work
with that receiver.  A thought is if
he is available that receiver could
be former Washington Husky Denzel
Boston.

If Denzel already taken could see
the Seahawks taking another
offensive lineman to play on the
right side at guard.  The Seahawks
have four draft picks as of now.
The first, second, and third rounds
plus the sixth round.  Likely they
will add some more picks. So we
will see what happens there.

On the Washington Huskies football
they lost their offensive coordinator.
At this point they are not replacing
him according to head coach Jedd
Fisch.  So Fisch will continue play
calling and the position coaches
will do what they do. I guess we
will see how that works out  Go Dawgs!

Rangers Beat Mariners Sunday

The Mariners scored first with half
the runs on the day on a home run
by second baseman Cole Young.

The Mariners were without the
players who are going to play in
the World Baseball Classic.

Final was Rangers 9 Mariners 4

Logan Gilbert pitched fine giving
up a solo home run in the second
inning. He went 2 and 2/3  innings.
A top pitching prospect pitched
a single inning in the 4th.  Gabe
Mosser signed a minor league
contract pitched the fifth giving
up five runs on seven hits.

The Mariners won't play Monday
so next game with be against
the Los Angeles Angels in Peoria.

The season will start on March 26.
Minor leaguers have reported so
soon we will see players who are in
major league camp be sent own.
Whoever makes the end of the
roster we won't know for a bit of
time. Go M's.

Gonzaga and WSU Both Lose

Gonzaga who had been undefeated
after losing to Portland in their first
game of the season lost to St. Mary's
on the road 70-59. This means these
two teams end the West Coast
Conference season in a tie at 16-2.

St. Mary's dominated the action
down the stretch winning very easily.
The Zags led by seven at halftime.
In the second half the Zags only
scored 23 points while Sy. Mary's
had 41.

Neither team shot well from the
field however the Zags couldn't
stop St. Mary's making 3 point
shots. They made 16 of 33 behind
the line while Zags made 5 of 17.

The Zags were led by Graham Ike
with 17 points with two other
starters scoring double figures.
What didn't help the Zags was
only 8 points off the bench as
they played seven players.  The
two players off the bench played
a combined 47 minutes.

Now they wait to see who they
play in the WCC tournament.
It begins on March 5.

The WSU Cougars lost to
Pepperdine Saturday 88-79.
The score difference at halftime
wasn't much difference. The
Cougars I am sure wish that
they had played a better season.

Ace Glass who has had a very
good season as a freshman led
the Cougars with 22 points. The
Cougars had ND Okafor with 15
points and 10 rebounds to lead
then in school.

This has been a terrible record
this year for the Cougars.  They
finish 8th with a conference
record of 7-11.  We will have to
see how the  Cougars do in the
Conference tournament.

Kade Anderson Makes Professional Debut

Kade Anderson made his debut
Saturday afternoon against the
San Diego Padres. The first
round pick of the Mariners in
2025 showed what he was
capable of by striking out the
side in the first inning.

In the second inning he did give
up two hits and  before being lifted.
Houston Roth who the Mariners
signed to a minor league contract
during the off-season came in
for Anderson. He was able to get
two outs but had four hits. Two
runs scored went to Anderson
while three went to him. He walked
a batter.  Peyton Alford came in
and got the final out.

Emerson Hancock came in and
went two and two-thirds innings
get all right batters be faced out
including striking out four. Have
to say Emerson looks like he is
ready to go.  News came out that
Bryce Miller won't make his next
start as a precaution. Emerson
looks like he will be the sixth
starter when needed.  He should
be in the bullpen before then.

Final was Padres 7 Mariners 1

The Mariners plsying in the World
Baseball Classic will be heading
out on Sunday. Be ready for it Cal
Raleigh caught all nine innings
Saturday. Go M's.

On Sunday the Mariners will play
the Texas Rangers in Peoria.
Monday will be their first day off
of two during training camp.

In men's basketball the Washington
Huskies Saturday lost to Wisconsin
at home 90-73. The Badgers are
the sixth best team in the tough
Big Ten. They are 20-9 overall
while the Huskies are 14-15.

Wisconsin scored 15 points in
the first half before the Huskies
held their own in the second half
scoring two more points than the
 Badgers.

The difference in the game was
the Badgers made 13 more points
behind the 3 point line. Both shot
about the same in the field. I
would say the Huskies failed in
that manner.   Hopefully the defense
will get better against teams that
shoot a lot from 3 point line.

The Huskies will be at home on
Wednesday against the USC Trojans
then the regular season ends next
Saturday in Eugene against the
Oregon Ducks. We hope to see
success against them as the Big
Ten Tournament begins after that.

Hannes Steinbach had 22 points
making 8 of 11 in field goals while
Zoom Diallo had 21 making 9 of 15.
They were the only Huskies to score
in double figures. Go Dawgs

Mariners Lose First Night Game

The Seattle Mariners were beaten by
Arizona in the first spring game at
night.

It wasn't much of an offensive game
for one of the few games so far.
Arizona 3 Mariners 1

Luis Castillo went one and one-thirds
innings in his first start. He gave up
the three runs in the second inning
on a homer run. The Mariners one
run was driven in by Cole Young
in the 7th inning. The Mariners had
six hits on the night.

Mariners take on San Diego on
Saturday afternoon.

Julio Rodriguez Heading Into His 5th Season

Those who are seeing Julio at training
camp say he is acting more mature
heading into his 5th season for the
Mariners.

The season Cal Raleigh had last season
puts pressure off of Julio as well. Having
Josh Naylor for a full season hitting
behind him will help.

Julio is hitting well so far in spring games
so far. Going to the World Baseball Classic
for the Demonican Republican should
help as well.

We know his defense is always good
if he isn't hitting well. He is averaging
31 home runs a season with a .274
batting average and 91 rbs as well.
We get critical of him since he usually
starts out slow. What if he gets off
to a good start his numbers will be
creater this season. The Mariners
could win the division easily too.

The Mariners starters are more
healthy and adding another good
reliever will make it great too.
Go M's .

Mariners Win Offensive Game

Thursday the Mariners beat the Cleveland Guardians 8-7. Offense is still happening.
The Mariners scored two runs in both the
first and second innings.

Bryce Miller who was hurt much of last
season he went one and one-third innings
giving up three hits however no walks
and gave up no runs. He only threw 21
pitches with 16 being strikes.  The rest
of the guys were so so.

Cooper Criswell is a tall guy at 6'6
and throws hard would be nice to
make the bullpen pitched two
innings giving up three runs. He
would be nice to be a long reliever
gave up three runs but this early in
spring training.

The top of the batting order looked
good as Brendan Donovan had a
hit and drive in a run. Cal had two
hits and Julio had a hit along with
walking a couple times.

Colt Emerson had a couple hits
while playing shortstop as JP
Crawford is out it looks like
until Monday. So we will see
a bunch of Colt. He makes the
team out of spring training
because the Mariners thinks he is
ready to go. Not saying that will
happen however it could at the
same time.

Friday the Mariners play Arizona
Dismondbacks in Peorio at 5:10
Pacific time.  Luis Castillo is
expected to start for the Mariners.
Go M's.

Gonzaga Wins Big while Cougars Lose Tight Game

Gonzaga men's basketball team only
loss in West Coast Conference was to Portland earlier on they took revenge
big time beating them 89-48.

The Zags built a 15 point lead in the
first half  however poured it on in
the second half 53 to 27. The Zags are
now have a 28-2 overall record on
the season. The other loss was to
Michigan in a non-league game.

The Zags shot very well from the
field making 52.4 percent. Much
if it was 21 turnovers by Portland.
The Zags made ten more shots
from behind the 3 point line. Most
stats looked about even on free
throws and rebounds.

The Zags had four players score
in double figures led by Graham
Ike with 19 points.

This Saturday the Zags play at
St. Mary's in the final regular
season game before the West
Coast Conference tournament.
This will be the last game in
the conference to as they join
the new Pac-12 next season.
If St. Mary's win at home the
two teams end in a tie for the
Conference at 16-2.

The West Coast Conference
tournament will be in Las Vegas
from March 5 to the 10th.

The Washington State Cougars
men's basketball team lost to
Loyola Maramount Wednesday
night 67-66. This was after having
a 15 point lead at halftime.

It took LMU most of the second
half with a few little runs finally
catching the Cougars at 61-61
with 1:33 remaining in the game.
After that they were able to take
the lead. Ace Glass made a three
point shot with two seconds left
for the Cougars to make a one
point loss.

The Cougars shot better from
the field than LMU. The difference
was LMU made nine more free
throws. Glass led the Cougars
with 20 with two other players
in double figures.

The Cougars go into the final
game of the regular season
with 12-18 overall record. The
Cougars are tied with Seattle
U and San Francisco at 7-10
in sixth place. They take on
Pepperdine on their field on
Saturday. Pepperdine is in
last place.  Even if the beat
the Cougars they will still
be last.  Go Cougs!

Mariners Against KC End In A Tie

Wednesday playing the Royals ended in
a tie 8-8. Most of these early games
have shown the offense in both sides.

Both the Mariners and Royals had an
inning where they scored four runs
each with the Mariners.  The Mariners
had three home runs all by minor
leaguers.

Bryan Woo had his first start of the
spring going one and one-third innings
giving up two hits and a run. He had no
walks and struck out two. Munoz came
in the third after a minor league pitcher
finished the second.  Munoz went a
full inning giving up no hits. Bazardo
gave up no runs after Munoz.

The Royals got three runs off Dane
Dunning in relief after starting the
opening game of the spring for the
Mariners. No other big names in
relief by the Mariners.

Victor Labrada who played in left
field and Brennen Davis in right
both expected to play in the minors
for depth each had three hits scoring
two runs.  Davis a big guy had one of
three home runs.  He is a local player
from Chandler Arizona. The Mariners
signed him as a minor league free
agent after playing for the Yankees
minor leagues.

Thursday the Mariners play Cleveland
Guardians in Peoria with Bryce Miller
making his first start. That leaves Luis
Castillo to make his first start.
Go M's

Mariner Lose Tuesday

As we know early spring training game
losses don't mean a lot. White Sox
beat Mariners 12-10.

Brendan Donovan made his first start
of the spring at third base. He got his
first hit leading off for the Mariners
in the first inning. He was 2 for 2.
Cal Raleigh had his first home run of
spring.  Julio has started off well had another hit driving in a couple runs. I am sure everyone is hoping he gets off to a good
start. Colt Emerson had a couple hits to and drove in two runs.

On the pitching side George Kirby got four outs giving up two runs He threw 45 pitches With 25 strikes. Not a typical Kirby game
but the first of the spring.  The rest of the
pitching were by minor leaguers.

The Mariners are on the road Wednesday
against the Kansas City Royals. Don't
know yet who the starting pitcher will be.

In men's college basketball the Washington Huskies beat Rutgers on the road 79-72.
It was a needed win for the Huskies.
They took control midway through the
second half. The lead was seven at
half time however early on in the second
half Rutgers edged a little closer. The
Huskies were able to make it up to
12 points pounts in the last ten minutes.

Hannes Steinbach led the Huskies with
24  points making 9 of 12 from the field. To
He had 16 rebounds making it the 18th
time this season he has had a double-
double. Wesley Yates had 19 points
making 7 of 13 from the field. He made
3 of 7 from the 3 point line. Steinbach
and Yates played all but three minutes.
Zoom Diallo and Quimari Peterson had
10 points each.  In all the Huskies shot
50 percent from the field. Rutgers made
seven more free throws thsn the Huskies
just to give you a little more insight.

The Huskies will be back home on
Saturday to take on Wisconsin. The
Badgers are sixth place in the Big
Ten so that won't be an easy game
either although none are in the Big
Ten.  Go Dawgs!

79-72

About Mariners Pitcher Kade Anderson

The Seattle Mariners first pick and second
overall in 2025 looks like he won't be
spending much time in the minor leagues.
If it weren't for the starting five right
now a thought starting in the majors
right away.

Kade hasn't started in a professional
game as yet. Last year after pitching
Louisiana State to the national
championship the Mariners him
the summer off. The history of some
previous first round picks it is a good
idea. This is true if they played in
college. A high school pick you could
play him some. The draft is now at
the all star break so it isn't like they
will play in many games anyway.
Since pitchers have history of arm
trouble it is a good idea to rest.

Throwing in the bullpen in Peoria
Kade isn't afraid to pitch against
major leaguers. He will likely begin
the minor leagues but we could see
hin by August in Seattle. Even with
the rotation in fact he could make
some spot starts. The Mariners
could even go to a six-man rotation
like they did several years ago.

Depending on the weather in April
it might be good to start him at Low
A for a start or two then move him
to high A in Everett. It would be fun
for the fans in Washington to see
him pitch. He could then move on
to double A in Arkansas.

What we do know he will be a special
pitcher as long as he stays healthy.
When he does go into the Mariners
rotation he will be the only lefty so
being the third starter would be nice.
The Mariners could trade a starter
for another bat if they need one.
Go Mariners!

Logan Gilbert Pitches Well In Mariners Loss

Logan Gilbert made his first start of the
spring. He pitched well though only
went two innings. After the game he
thought he did well in his first start.

The Mariners didn't give him or any of
pitchers who went out. The Los
Angeles Dodgers won 3-0.

Carlos Vargas who pitched all season
in the bullpen went one inning.
Lefty Jose Ferrer went an inning
giving up the three runs with two
earned in his first game as a Mariner.
All the other pitchers were minor
leaguers.

Rob Refsnyder made his first appearance
t dh and had no hits. Andrew Knizner
had a hit while starting at catcher.
Logan says he likes how he catchers
and works well all the pitchers. The
Mariners had three other hits with
one late but couldn't bring in a run.
Those were hits my minor leaguers.

Tuesday George Kirby will be making
his first start of the spring.  The Mariners
be back in Peoria to take on the White
Sox. Go M's.

WSU Lose Gonzaga while Gonzaga Wins

The WSU Cougars Men basketball
kept it close in the first half being
down by one. In the second half
St. Mary's were able to take care
of them winning 83-67.

St.Mary's shot better making 54.8
percent of their field goal attempts
They made fifty percent of their
three point shots.  The Cougars did
fine though  not up to their opponent.
St. Mary's made seven more shots.

The Cougars had three players in
double figures. ND Okafor and
Ace Glass both led with 15 points.
The Cougars next game will be
on Wednesday at Loyola of
Maramount.

Gonzaga beat Pacific at home
71-62. The game was tied at halftime
then the Zags started pulling away
in the last half of the second period.

Mariners Come Back Late To Win Sunday

The Mariners game against the Cincinnati
Red showed again on Sunday that the hitters
are ahead of the pitchers. Most games
right now minor league pitchers are going
late in games. The game again was affected
by the wind in this one.

Final Mariners 14 Reds 8

The Mariners got a run in the first
inning on a hit by Arozarena.
The Reds score five runs in the
second inning. Mariners had another
run in the 4th. Reds scored three more
in the bottom of the 5th. That was it
for them. Mariners had three in the 5th
followed by in the 7th and tied with
one in the 8th right after a challenge
with ABS. The Mariners had 6 in the
9th. That inning it was the minor
leaguers who scored.

The Mariners pitching was mostly
done by minor leaguers. Casey
Legumina was the only one who
had pitched somewhat significant
time with the Mariners last season.
He did fine in one inning.

Monday Logan Gilbert will start
for the first time this spring.
Reliever Jose Ferrer acquired
for Harry Ford is expected to
pitch too. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Game Two In Spring and So Does Washington Men BB

The Seattle Marinersost to the San Francisco
Giants 10,-5 in the second game of the
Cactus Spring.

The Mariners actually led 5-0 after the
first inning primarily by Mikes Mastrobuino
grandslam home run. Mastrobuino is
trying to make the team though it won't
be easy. If he can continue to hit in
the spring he could make it.

In this game he actually played in left
field showing his diversity. Most
likely he will start in Tacoma for depth.
Miles bats left handed. Cole Young
hits left handed as does Brendan Donovan.
Also Colt Emerson who the Mariners
hope to make the team. The extra
infielder needs to bat right handed.

Leo Rivas who started at shortstop
in this game bats both ways and then
there is Ryan Bliss. We will see how
this works over in the spring.

Emerson Hancock started and went
one and two-thirds innings. He looked
good though gave up there runs only
because a fly ball wasn't handled with
the sun. Munoz pitched the third followed
by Gabe Speier and Eduardo Bazardo.
The rest of the pitchers were minor
leaguers.

The  Mariners go on the road to play
the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The
starting pitcher isn't known yet.

The Washington Huskies lost to
the Maryland Terripins on Saturday
afternoon 64-60. This was a road
game the Huskies really need to
have a chance to make the NCAA
tournament. They have four games
to turn things around before the
Big Ten Tournament begins. To make
NCAA at this point they need to finish
the top five in the tournament.
The Huskies have had a good season
though the Big Ten is a tough
conference for men's basketball.

The game was pretty tight throughout
the second half. Maryland's largest
lead was five while the Huskies was
four.  The game was tied going into
the last minute. Unfortunately Maryland
scored all four points.

Maryland made five more three points
and they were better inside two. The
Huskies did shoot better from the field
but wasn't good enough.

The Terrapins did a good job on Hannes
Steinbach who had his lowest rebounds
with three and had 14 points. Zoom Diallo
led the Huskies with 19. Wesley Yates
was the only other in double figures with
12.

The Huskies will play Rutgers on the road
in New Jersey on Tuesday. We hope for
better results.

This evening Washington State Cougars
and Gonzaga will ha e games. We will let
you know how they go.

Mariners Win Opening Game of Spring

The  Mariners beat the San Diego Padres
Friday afternoon 7-4.

Michael Arroyo was the hitting hero.
He hit a two-run homer in the 2nd inning.
The Mariners first home run of the
season. In his second at bat he had
a double.  Colt Emerson at this point
would be the first promising infielder
to make the team but maybe Arroyo
too.

Later in the game Leo Rivas hit a
home run too. Most likely won't
see a lot of home runs out of him
this coming season whether in
Seattle or Tacoma. Both these
two will see time this year in
Seattle.

Luke Raley had a couple hits. He
will need to have a good camp
to make the team. It will be either
him or Canzone. The Mariners
may need to trade him.

Dane Dunning started however
went into the second inning getting
two outs. He didn't give up a run
however a hit and two walks.
Most of the pitchers Friday won't
be on the team if any.

Troy Taylor who last year was injured
when spring training never got it
going in 2025 pitched an inning
in this one. He gave up a home run
in the 6th. Importance he is healthy
and can look something like the
pitcher in 2024.

Emerson Hancock is scheduled to
start Saturday against the San
Francisco Giants.

Mitch Garver Back With M'S

I really thought that Garver signed
with the Yankees. I guess not.
He signed a minor league contract
with the Mariners just a few days ago.

Though he was a disappointment
in his two years with the Mariners
as far as hitting goes there is no
pressure on him now.

To be honest the other candidates
are not really any different than
Mitch. The positive is he knows
most of the pitching staff.

After the Mariners traded Harry
Ford to the Washington Nationals
and the catchers in camp that
Cal will catch most of the time.
I do hope that lefty Jose Ferrer
will work out the Mariner hope
for. What we do know the M's
know how to work with pitching.

The Mariners do need a second
lefty to go with Gabe Speier
in high leverage cases. We
hope that Speier can stay healthy
again this season. As we know
we can't count on a bullpen
one season to the next. With
depth this really helps.

The Mariners need another high
leverage pitcher to go with Munoz
and Brash so a lefty in this spot
would be good to whether Speier
or Ferrer.

The Mariners have a lot of relievers
in training camp so if any one new
along with Ferrer be good too.

I heard that Emerson Hancock
might go back to be a starter.
I hope he is in the bullpen and
can be used in the rotation if
necessary. I believe the Mariners
need at least one long reliever
and he can fit that role. We will
find the answers during spring
training as we will with the infield.

It will be nice to see Colt Emerson
in the lineup at third base Friday
along with Michael Arroyo at
second.  Not sure that Arroyo
is ready right now but he is
added depth.

Enjoy Friday's game as well as the
rest of spring training.

I do hope the Mariners games will
be found on one of the local stations
as the Kraken are. In fact the Kraken
signed a new two year contract.
This shows success to me.
Go M's.

First Spring Training Game Friday

The Seattle Mariners opening game
is today in Peoria against the Padres.

The Mariners have a mixture of players
starter. Cal Raleigh will start along with
Julio, Naylor and Arozarena. Julio will
be at dh. Luke Raley will lead off and
be in center.  Colt Emerson will play
at third and bat 9th.  Another youngster
Michael Arroyo will play second and
hit 8th.  Dominic Canzone will be in
right field.

Former Ranger Dane Dunning in camp
on a minor league deal will start for
the Mariners. Expect him to go two
or three innings. Dunning is one of
the guys to give depth to the starting
rotation.

Later we will let you know how it goes.
Go M'S

What kind of Year will Cal Have

I know a lot of fans and media are
wondering how many home runs
he will have in 2026.

Likely he won't have 60 home runs
like last year. I see he could have
a better year with a higher batting
average and less strike outs.

So many count on home runs
however there is more to offensive
baseball. If Cal can drive in almost
as many runs and how about more
walkoff hits. Maybe his on base
percentage increases so he score
more runs. Right now Julio is
expected to bat behind him. What
if Julio drives in more runs  along
with Josh Naylor. The Mariners
will have him for a full season we
hope. Maybe Randy Arozarena
will drive in more too. If Cal can
drive in more runs with the bottom
of the order getting on or Brenden
Donovan at lead off.

The importance is the Mariners
offense be better on a whole.
A saw an improvement with
the Mariners scoring more times
with the bases loaded or runners
on third last year. What if that
increases more in 2026.

The Mariners sometimes would
score in the first couple innings
than nothing until later in the
game. Be nice to see improvement
there too. It doesn't have to be
with home runs.  Last September
the Mariners showed they could
hit more doubles. This would be
be great to do so earlier on
especially at T Mobile park.

The Mariners pitching should be
better to with a healthier starting
rotation. The bullpen improve
with help for Munoz, Brash, Bazardo
and Speier.

So I can see Cal having a greater
season offensively with less home
runs and a more mature Julio.
Go M's.

Gonzaga and Washington State Men Both Win

Gonzaga won easily beating San
Fransisco Dons 80-59.

The Zags shot 56.8 from the field.
Over half their points were made
Inside with 46. On the other hand
the Dons shot 36.7 percent from
the field.

It will be important that the Zags
continue hitting well inside. When
they get to the NCAA tournament
they will need to shoot better from
the 3 point line especially if they
make it to the later rounds.

The Zags went most of the way
with their starters with four of
the five scoring in double figures.
Another key to their success.
In fact the four combined for
59 points exactly what the Dons
scored.

The Zags have three games
remaining on the regular season
They are at home against Pacific
ln Saturday.  Go Zags!

The Washington State Cougars
beat Pacific at home  87-70.
Going by their records this
would be an upset but it isn't
never easy to win on the road.

The first half was where more points
were scored with the Cougars led
51-40. The  Cougars shot 56.7
from the field. The difference though
they made 50 percent from outside
the three point line going 14 of 28.
Pacific made  8 of 21.

Rihards Vavers led the  Cougars with
21 points with four in double figures.
The Cougars will be home Saturday
taking on St. Mary's which won't be
an easy task.  Whether the Cougars
win or not they will have to play well.

The Cougars have had a tough season
so they will need to play well in the
West Coast Conference tournament.
In fact to make the NCAA tournament
they will need to win that tournament.
Go Cougars!

With the week off the Washington
Huskies will play Maryland on the
road. This is a winnable game though
never easy on the road especially
in the Big Ten. Every game remaining
is important to win. Injuries have
kept the Huskies from having a
successful season. The could
make the NCAA tournament however
it will be a challenge. Go Dawgs!

Washington Huskies football: all-time Wide Receivers

The Washington Huskies have some
of the best wide receivers over time
though it helps having some very
good quarterbacks throwing to them

Reggie Williams is listed as the number
one receiver in yardage. Rome Odunze
who was the team that made it to
the national championship game
and now is with the Chicago Bears is
number two.

Denzel Boston who declared for the
NFL draft after the 2025 season is
listed number 16 however if it wasn't
the fact he missed a few games he
be higher. If he did come back for
another season and stayed healthy
he could move up to number four
if he had 1000 yards.

Jermaine Kearse who played with
the Seahawks among other NFL
teams is number three in yardage
however holds the record in touch-
downs with 29.  It maybe difficult
however Denzel Boston had 20
 touchdowns and he stayed could
move up though passing Kearse
might be difficult.

Dante Pettis is number four in
yardage however he and Odunze
are listed third with 24 touchdowns.
Mario Bailey who was on some
good Don James teams in the 90s
is 7th in yardage however number
two with 26 touchdowns.

Jayden Mickens is fifth in yardage
however third with 203 catches but
had only 12  touchdowns. Among
the receivers though he ran the ball
more than any with 32.

Jalen McMillan who was on the team
team with DeBoer when they went to
National Championship game losing
to Michigan after the 2023 season is
sixth in yardage. He missed about
half the games that season. Had he
played the full season Jalen may have
been number four behind Kearse.

Mario Bailey was the Huskies best
receiver in most categories until
the 21st century when the guys
above him came on the scene. He
played between 1988 and 1991.
Jerome Pathon was next at eight
and.he was the next best receiver
to finish the 21st century. He had
six less catches then Bailey and
30 yards. The biggest difference
was Bailey had 26 touchdowns
while Pathon had 16.

These are the Huskies top right
receivers as far as catches,
yardage  and touchdowns. Go
Dawgs!

Mariners: Victor Robles and Ryan Bliss

This spring training these two Mariner
players are back. They both missed
most of the 2025.  Robles was back in
September however he didn't see
much playing time so made us realize
he wasn't totally healthy yet.

Robles will be the everyday right
fielder. He is much like Josh Naylor
as far as attitude and being great
in the locker room. He does have
speed. He once was the Mariners
lead off hitter however it looks like
newcomer Brendan Donovan will
be it this year. So Robles will be in
the second half of the batting order.
Where he will be will depend whether
Cole Young and Colt Emerson are
in the lineup.

Ryan Bliss did miss the season
after being hurt early on in 2025.
Like Robles he has speed too.
He is in competition with Leo Rivas
to make  the opening day roster. Being
a right handed hitter he may platoon
with Cole Young starting against lefties
it at least tough lefties that is. Rivas
on the other hand is a switch hitter
so he might have an edge.  Both players
can play some third base as well as
second along with shortstop. When
not starting they both can be used
as pinch runners. The Mariners don't
have many players to pinch run for
however opportunities will arise I
am sure.

Starting pitcher Bryce Miller says he
is healthy so if he can get back to
his 2024 level will improve the rotation
for sure. We can say the same for Logan
Gilbert and George Kirby.

Again first game in spring training begins
this Friday against San Diego. Speaking
of the Padres Ty France is now back
with them after signing as a free agent.
Most likely he will be used as a pinch
hitter most of the time.

Go Mariners!

Spring Training Full Open

All the players should be in camp
beginning on Monday. The first
preseason game will be on Friday
against the San Diego Padres.

The regular season begins at home
on March 26 against the Cleveland
Guardians followed by the New York
Yankees. The first road trip will be
at the California Angels followed
by Texas Rangers beginning on April
2.

Those who want to know the World
Baseball Classic begins on March 5
and ends with the championship on
March 17. The Dominican Republic
being one of the favorites Julio
Rodriguez might be the last to return
to training camp.

The pitchers and catchers started
last week last year's number one
pick KadenAnderson is getting great
reviews. He might not spend much
time in the minors. Ryan Sloan the
number two picks in 2025.is having
a great camp as well. It will be
interesting to see what the rotation
will look in 2027.

As far as position players fans will
want to watch newcomer Brendan
Donovan along with Colt Emerson
number one pick in 2023.  Brendan
Donovan likely will.start at third base
unless Emerson makes.the club. If
that happens then we will see
Donovan play some third along with
second and the two corner outfields.

Cole Young is expected to start at
second..All three Donovan, Emerson
and Young hit left handed. Emerson
makes the team he likely will backup
JP Crawford. What we .do know
Donovan will be in the lineup most
games.

We will get up more on the Mariners
as spring training goes and the season.
Let you know who the best player of
each game and any other news
happening. We keep up to date on
the Seahawks off season.

Seahawks Hire Offensive Coordinator

There was thought that the Seahawks
would hire within the organization
for the offensive coordinator with
possible of four offensive coaches
however it looks like it won't be the
case.

It looks like division rival San Francisco
49ers tight end coach Brian Fleury.
He is credited in making George Kittle
the tight end he is.  So the Seahawks
will look at improving the running
game. This last season teams like
the Rams used three tight ends at
times.  We could see the Seahawks
do more of the same though they
began the season using a fullback.

Rookie Robbie Ouzts was the starter
however he played in 12 games so
it was used in limits. If he can stay
healthy next season that would help.
Brady Russell was the backup however
he is best on special teams and used
some as the third tight end.

AJ Barner was the Seahawks primary
tight end being second in receptions
to wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
He had the loan offensive touchdown
in the Superbowl. We see what his
approvement next season. Could have
some good catches like Kittle.

At this point don't know the status
of Ken Walker III however the Seahawks
likely try to keep him. If they can't
sign him to a multi year contract
they can put the franchise tag on him.
Zach Charbonnett is expect out
for some of next season the Seahawks
could look at drafting a running back
as well.

News is that quarterback coach
Andrew Janocko is going to the
Las Vegas as offensive coordinator
to be with Klint Kubiak. He to
interviewed for the same position
with the Seahawks. Now we see
who might be the next Seahawks
qb coach and whether other
offensive coaches stay or not.
Go Hawks!

Gonzaga Beats Santa Clara On the Road

It isn't ever easy to win on the road
however the Zags were able to though
got off to a slow start.

The Zags had four players who scored
in double figures with three having 20
points or more. Graham Ike led again
with 21 points and dominated the
boards with 15.

The Zags shot 56.7 percent from the
floor though not well in 3 point shots
at just over 16 percent. Nice to know
they realize that. Another area needing
improvement is foul shots where they
made 19 of 29.  Making 66 points  inside
helped them a lot.  This where they need
to do when they go against good teams.

The Zags are now back at the top of
the West Coast Conference at 13-1.
Santa Clara is 13-2 with both losses
against the Zags. St. Mary's is 12-2.

Gonzaga's  next game will be at
home on Wednesday against San
Francisco. The Dons are struggling
this season however doesn't take
them lightly. The regular season
ends on February where they
face St.Marys so should be another
great game. After the Dons they play
Pacific and Portland who they have
the only loss. Go Zags.

Washington Huskies Men's Beat Minnesota

The Washington Huskies went pretty much
with their starters beating Minnesota at
home  69-57.

Forward Hannes Steinbach had another
big game this time scoring 26 points
along with 9 rebounds.  He  made  12
of 17 from the field.  Zoom Diallo was
the only other one to score in double
figure with 17.  In total the two scored
43 out of the Huskies 69 points.

The Huskies were without Bryson
Tucker. He has started most of the
games he has been in. The Huskies
went with three guards as Quimari
Peterson started with Diallo and
Wesley Yates. Peterson and Yates
each had only five points.

Freshman Courtland Muldrew was
the main one off the bench going 21
minutes.A guard has only played 12
games. He had 6 points and five
rebounds.

The Huskies were able to make
63 percent of their field goals
and the main reason they won
although they dominated in
rebounds  with 27 to Minnesota
18.

The Huskies have a week off
as far as play going  next
Saturday at Maryland which
is a winnable game.

We hope Tucker will be back for
that one. We hope to Wesley
Yates will be feeling better.

Currently Santa Clara is ahead
of Gonzaga by five in the second
half. We see how it goes. Go Zags.

Seahawks News As of Now

Now that we have the parade after
the Seahawks won the Super Bowl
they have signed 15 future contracts
and their offensive coordinator Klint
Kubiak is now the head coach the
Las Vegas Raiders who will be the
Seahawks new OC. This will be a
credical signing for sure.

Conner Senger pass game specialist
for the Arizona Cardinals is one guy
who the Seahawks looking at. So far
the only candidate being interviewed
outside the Seahawks coaching staff.
They are interviewing four coaches
already in the organization.Since the
Seahawks want to continue in the
running game as part of the offense
it will be interesting to see how much
Senger is on the running game.

Justin Outten who is a strong candidate
within was considered to go to the
Raiders was declined to be interviewed
for a job with them.  He is an assistant
line coach/running game specialist so
a good thing. We will see if any coach
on the Seahawks actually go to the Raiders.

The Seahawks hired former Baltimore
Ravens defensive coach Zachary Orr
to be inside linebacker coach. Orr
actually replaced Mike MacDonald
as defensive coordinator with the
Ravens. With head coach John Harbaugh
fired after losing in the playoffs.
Harbaugh now is the head coach of
the New York Giants.

Stay tuned to find out who the next
offensive coordinator will be.
Go Hawks!

Seattle Mariners Future Look Like

This coming season the roster looks
pretty solid though a spot in the bullpen
could make a difference and so on
the bench.

Next year 2027 could look something
different. The Mariners starting rotation
is  set this season unless injuries
happen. Next year the rotation could
change.  Lefty Anderson the Mariners
number one draft pick how long will
it take him to be in the rotation. He
was the best lefty in college baseball
last year and he could crack the rotation
Since the Mariners starters are all
righties this year that would be nice.
So does that mean the end of veteran
Luis Castillo. May come down to his
season this year..

Ryan Sloan right handed pitchers who
was drafted in the second round out
of high school in 2024 could be ready
or close to it. Whose spot would he take.
George Kirby could be the guy. It depends
whether would trade him or not.  Logan Gilbert and Bran Woo seem to be the
top two pitchers in the rotation.

As far as the infield talk will be about
newcomer Brendan Donovan and number
one prospect Colt Emerson  to see if he
makes the team out of spring training.
Even if he is not should be on the ball
club at some point.

So this comes to 2027 the Mariners
msy have several young ball players
on the ball club.  We first let's see
how 2026 goes. We are all hoping
that the Mariners make the World
Series. The five to six weeks will be
interesting. Go M's.

Washington Huskies Lose Again At Home

The Washington Huskies were upset
st home in a low scoring game to
Penn State 63-60. This means the
Huskies will need to win almost all
their remaining games to make the
NCAA tournament. This was Penn
State first win on the road in Big Ten
play.

Freshmen Hannes Steinbach led
the Huskies with 19 points and
14 rebounds. Steinbach likely
will go to the NBA after one season.

Wesley Yates was the only other
player for the Huskies to score in
double figures with 11 points. They
played mostly with six players.

The Huskies shot only 37.7 percent
and was the main reason they lost.
The Huskies will play Minnesota
at home on Saturday.   Minnesota
lost at home on Sunday to Maryland
however they will be more rested
than the Huskies. Go Dawgs!

Klint Kubiak Off To Las Vegas

Can't blame someone whose dream
has been to be a head coach in the
NFL.

One day after the Seahawks won
the Super Bowl offensive coordinator
Klint Kubiak was named head coach
of thess Vegas Raiders.

I hope the Raiders give him a chance
no matter how they do next season.
Former Seahawks head coach Pete
Carroll only made it one season.

The Raiders I expect need a lot of
help. It will be interesting what
coaches may move over from the
Seahawks. The likelihood it will
be a few offensive coaches.
This means promotions on both
teams. I am sure the Seahawks
know who the next offensive
coordinator will be. It will be
in-house as four offensive coaches
are being interviewed Thursday
and Friday. We will let you know who
it will be.

The Seahawks could lose a few offensive
players to in free agency. I am sure they will
try to keep as many as they can. Ken
Walker III will be one they will try the
best to keep. It may take putting
the franchise tag on him though.

The next few weeks should be interesting.
Go Hawks!

Gonzaga Beat WSU Cougars Tuesday Night

The Cougars didn't have a good
first half scoring  on 21 points
while Zags had 48. Did much better
in the second but couldn't overcome.
Final Zags 83 Cougars 53

The Zags always bounce back after
a loss. They are now ranked 12th
so they at this point they are not
a number one seed for the NCAA
tournament.

They shot muh better than the
Cougars and making 34 shots
to the Cougars 18.  Neither shot
well from outside in the 3 point shot.
The Zags had 50 points inside
compared to the Cougars 22.
The Cougars had 21 turnovers while
Zags had 10.

Graham Ike led the Zags with 20 points
with three others in double figures.

The Zags will play Santa Clara on
their court Saturday. Both teams
are 12-2 however Santa  Clara
plays Seattle U Wednesday night.
They should be favored.. The Zags
beat Santa Clara the first time
early January but it will be important
to win again. Go Zags!

The Cougars on the other hand
don't play again until next Wednesday
at home against Pacific. The Cougars
are 6-8 in West Coast Conference
while Pacific is 7-6. The Cougars
have lost three in a row so important
to get back to winning ways.

Wednesday night the Huskies play
at home against Penn State. The
Huskies are 4-9 in the Big Ten and
have lost two in a row. Pen State
is 1-12 so the Huskies can't afford
sn upset. Go Dawgs!

Seahawks Free Agency so far 2026
