White Sox 4-2 Sunday night.
Nothing official yet however Mitch
Garver hit a home run in his first
at bat of the night and then drove
in the second run as well the word
is that he has made the ball club
as the backup catcher.
No one was really impressive
as far as hitting the ball among
the candidates. Being familiar
with the pitching staff likely
made the difference. You have
go figure that Garver will play
once a week at catcher. If he
does bring along his offense
than we could see him behind
the plate twice a week at times.
The Mariners are hoping to get
Cal some relief behind the plate
and things work out will make
the difference.
The first couple weeks at least
the Mariners will have a couple
days off so that gives Cal some
rest.
Bryan Woo started Sunday night
and he went six innings. He gave
up three hits including a double
that scored a run. He walked zero
and struck out four. If he pitches
this way much of the season he
will win a lot of games.
Andre Munoz came in the 7th
and gave up no hits or runs.
He did walk a batter and struck
out one too. Luis Castillo will
start Monday afternoon in the
final spring game. Thursday
will be the season opener at
home against the Cleveland
Guardians.
We will see whether shortstop
JP Crawford will be on the
opening roster and the same
goes for starting pitcher Bryce
Miller. If Miller does start the
season he won't have to pitch
for a week from tomorrow.
We will give you the details on
both and who will take both
players spot if they go on the
injured list. Go M'S.
