Mariners Lose Season Opener

Despite a big crowd and excitement
the Mariners lost to the Cleveland
Guardians 6-4.

If you liked home runs you were
welcomed to a treat. Chase DeLauter
who was second in the lineup for
the Guardians hit a home run off
of Logan Gilbert in the first inning.
He hit a home run in the 9th inning
for the Guardians final run. That
was a key since it put them up
by two runs.

Brendan Donovan led off for the
Mariners with a home run in the
first inning. This was the first
time anyone led off with a home
run for the Mariners in a season
opener to have a home run.

In the second inning the Mariners
took the lead when Dominic Canzone
hit his first home run. He hit another
in the 7th inning.

In the 5th inning Brayan Rocchio
hit a double off of Logan Gilbert
to score two runs. Luke Raley
hit a homer run in the bottom
of the inning to tie it.

Logan Gilbert left after getting one
out in the 6th. Jose Ferrer made
his Mariners debut getting the
final two outs though gave up
two hits.

The 7th inning the Guardians got
two more runs on a double off
of Gabe Speier. Casey Leguimina
pitch the 8th and Cooper Criswell
,making his Mariners debut in the
9th.

Donovan and Arozarena each had
doubles however the Mariners were
unable to take advantage of them.

George Kirby will start Friday for
the Mariners do hopefully they
can rebound. Go M's
