had a mid afternoon game in Toronto.
The Mariners scored first which they
often don't. Cal Raleigh who loves to
hit home runs in Toronto had a solo
home run the second inning.
In the 4th inning the Mariners were
able to load the bases then Taylor Ward
who had been struggling hit a single
to score Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh.
Unfortunately the Mariners bats went
dry after that.
Kade Anderson making his second
start got off well then in the 5th
inning was only able to get one out
and gave up two runs. It is still
adjustment for Anderson but certainly
showing good signs.
Bazardo finished the 5th though giving
up a couple outs. The Jays got two
more runs off Jose Ferrer who came
in the 6th inning. Ferrer gave up a walk
then was to get two outs before surrending
another walk. After that two singles in
a row scoring the two final runs for Blue
Jays win.
Carlos Vargas came in after that and went
two more innings after the final out in the
6th inning. He gave the Mariners a chance
to win without giving up a hit.
Now the Mariners will have to see if they
can salvage the series by winning Sunday.
It will be important game before going to
Boston to play the Red Sox who have been
playing well after getting off to a poor start.
The Red Sox before catching on fire were not
playing well at home but have been all season
the road. Now though they are two games
over .500 at home on the season. This doesn't
look good for the Mariners.
At this point the Mariners schedule is easy
in September however they will have to win
most of those games. Having Vargas back
in the bullpen helps and Matt Brash is starting
to throw. Also Cooper Criswell is on rehab
assignment at the moment.
The Mariners are expecting Brendan Donovan
back anytime off the concussion injured list.
He is with the team right now. Hopefully play
Sunday and if not in Boston. Go M's
