Angels Even The Series

 Angels 9 Mariners 4

This game wasn't close. Not even as much
as the score shows.

Yusei Kikuchi had his second straight poor
performance in a row. I wonder if he really
is hurt. The Mariners need examine him
and see if it true or he has a problem in
his mental approach right now. The Mariners
need Yusei to pitch well to have any chance
of a winning season.

David Fletcher continues to feed off of
Mariner pitching having three doubles
and driving in five runs. Also, Kikuchi
gave up two home runs to players he
normally would not. Jack Mayfield
who had a cup of coffee with the
Mariners this season hit a home run
in the fourth inning. Taylor Ward
a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Kikuchi was able to make it through
five innings however gave up seven
run on nine hits. He only walked one
batter while striking out seven. Time
to go back to the drawing board.

The Mariners did have ten hits on
the night; however scored one run
in the fifth inning then Mitch Haniger
hit a three-run homer in the 9th to
give the Mariners some hope.

JP Crawford continued his hot hitting
getting three hits. Dylan Moore may
have found his bat as he had a couple
hits. Also, Ty France had a couple hits.
France is hitting .268 second on the
team behind Crawford and just ahead
of Haniger. Interesting Kyle Seager
walked four times. The sad part he
didn't score a single run.

Jake Fraley missed his second game
in a row because of illness. He should
be available on Sunday. I do hope so
since Shed Long Jr. doesn't play a
good left field only adequate out
there. Not sure why they don't have
Dylan Moore in left and Long at 2nd.
Jake Bauers who was supposed to
play in left Saturday also came down
with illness as well.

Logan Gilbert goes for the Mariners
on Sunday night. If he pitches anywhere
close to what he did in his last couple
outings the Mariners should win the
series. Gilbert along with Flexen are
the Mariners two best pitchers. The
Mariners take on Colorado in a two
game series on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Marco Gonzales will start in that game.
Hopefully with the break he has
straighten things out.

Despite with what happened Friday
night Kendall Graveman should be
the Mariners closer. The Angels
scored three runs off of him but
they were all unearned because
of Dylan Moore. The Mariners
do have Paul Sewald who has
done a good job being one of
the setup men along with closing
when Graveman needs a night
off. Also, Drew Steckenrider
has done a good job now as
one of the the two primary
setup pitchers. The Mariners
should continue good as long
as they do a good job. Right
now a lead going into the 8th
and 9th inning seems pretty
safe though he know a slip
can happen any time. Go M's.
