Rockies 6 Mariners 3
First off I am sorry I forgot the Marinerswere playing an afternoon game. The
Kraken expansion draft coming up in
less than an hour on ESPN 2. So let
you know who they choose among
the 30 players.
I don't know whose choice it was,

I don't know whose choice it was,
however, management made a poor
choice in selecting Keynan Middleton.
The reliever has been struggling off
and on the season but has never started
a game in the majors before so why do
it now. Erik Swanson who pitched later
has done well in the opener spot before.
The Mariners had rookie Darren McCaughan
called up from Tacoma to come in the
second inning to eat up some innings. T
McCaughan a starter in Tacoma did a fine
job by giving up only one run in the 4th inning.
The rookie went five innings giving up
no hits, while walking three batters. He
looked excited to be there including batting
twice in the game. Not sure the Mariners
would have done any better had he started
and maybe a good thing coming in the
second with little pressure. I am just sure
the right choice to start the game.
The Mariners got their three runs with three
home runs by Kyle Seager, Mitch Haniger
and Luis Torrens. The Mariners had only
five hits on the day. The other two hits were
by Tom Murphy starting at catcher and Jake
Bauers pitch hitting for Erik Swanson.
Remember the Mariners were Colorado
where the pitchers have to hit.W
The Mariners come home to play the A's
followed by the Astros. We see how they
go there. Flexen starts on Thursday and
should be followed by Kikuchi and Gilbert.
Marco Gonzales should start on Sunday.
The Mariners you would think split the
series at least and we hope win three games.
The A's have good pitching but their hitting
not any better than the Mariners though have
to watch those who can hit home runs.
Now to the next group of prospects
#19 Wyatt Mills right handed reliever who
has pitched a little for the Mariners with
injuries to the bullpen. He didn't do well
in his stints with the Mariners. Though he
may be good in the future not ready for
the big leagues yet. Mills currently down
at triple-A Tacoma. Mills has pitched in
16 games mostly in relief with an era of
3.18. He has done well striking out 40
batters in 20 while walking six. The
opponent is batting .180 which is really
outstanding when you think it is a hitter's
league. Maybe he will be ready to face
#20 Tyler Adcock right handed pitcher
looks like he would have started the
season at low level Modesto however
he went on the 60 day injured list so
likely he is done for the season. We
will see what happens in the future.
#21 Sam Carlson a former top draft
pick of the Mariners and in the top
ten prospects finally made to be able
to pitch after arm injuries this season
in Modesto. A right handed pitcher
still only 22 years old as the Mariners
drafted him out of high school. Carlson
has started 11 games going 57 innings
with an era of 4.28. Not fantastic but
good at the same time. Carlson should
move up to high level A or double-A
next season. He progresses may see
him in Seattle in 2023 or 2024.
Now we are under five minutes to
the draft stay tuned to see who the
Kraken pick in the expansion draft.
