Mariners 6 Angels 5
The Seattle Mariners beat the LA Angelsthe first game of the second half and of
the series. A good thing for sure. A
great way to start for sure.
the series. A good thing for sure. A
great way to start for sure.
The Mariners had a good lead for most
of the game leading 4-1 in the third
inning by Kyle Seager's home run
bring in two runs of three.
The score stayed that way until the
7th inning when Mitch Haniger hit
a two-run homer to make it 6-1.
The Angels scored a run in the 8th
inning to make it 6-2.
Things went wrong in the 9th. The
Angels scored three runs all unearned
because of a throw by Dylan Moore.
They tried to end the game with a
double play. Moore should have made
a better throw to at least get one out
anyway.
Paul Sewald came in to get the save
though Kendall Graveman looked
good, however, I am sure manager
Servais though a good idea to take
him out. Sewald was able to get the
final out after surrendering a hit.
Jarred Kelenic was able to get the
monkey off his back by finally getting
a hit in his last at bat through short
into left field. Cal Raleigh still hasn't
got his first major league hit. Cal
only struck out once so that is a
good sign. Also he looks good behind
the plate blocking pitches.
Yusei Kikuchi will start Saturday night's
game against the Angels. We hope to
see the Kikuchi for most of the last
couple months instead of the one against
the Yankees. For the Mariners to continue
on a good high Kikuchi needs to be who
we have seen most of the season.
Logan Gilbert will start on Sunday. Marco
Gonzales I expect will start on Tuesday.
We hope he irons out what has been
troubling him. Right now not sure if
the Mariners will go back to Flexen on
Wednesday after having an outstanding
game Friday against the Angels where
he went seven innings giving up only
six hits and the run was on a homer.
The Mariners will have to be careful
as they will be playing in Colorado.
If the Mariners don't start Flexen they
will have to find a fifth starter to go
in that spot. Since they have off-day
on Monday gives them an extra day.
Though I would start Flexen the
Mariners don't always work that way.
In other news locally sports wise
Friday Richard Sherman apologized
for his actions. He is up on several
misdemeanor charges so not as
serious as it could have been. We
wish him all the best especially
his personal life.
