Mariners Win Sunday

The Seattle  Mariners  were able to come
from behind Sunday afternoon in Cleveland .

Final Seattle  4  Cleveland 2

The Mariners  blew game one and the
Guardians  were able to win again
Saturday  evening  where the  Mariners
tried to come from behind.

Sunday t get were able to and the Guardians
didn't  have a big lead either. Bryce Miller
pitching his best game of the game gave
up two runs on a homer in the  third. They
were the hits and runs that Bryce gave up
the day.  He walked one batter while striking
out 3.

Randy Arozarena  who is the second best
hitter on the  Mariners  to Cal Raleigh tied
the  game in the 5th with a two run homer.
It was his 26th  home run..

In tge 7th had a infield  hit scoring JP
Crawford  who had two his on the day
and Cole Young with two outs. JP
and Cole were on second and third.

Gabe Speier  pitched  the  7th and got
all three lefties followed by Matt Brash
and Andre Munoz. No hits against tge
Mariners  three leverage pitchers.

The Mariners  are now onto Tampa Bay
to take on the Rays. The  Mariners swept
tge Rays in Seattle. Be nice if they could
sweep them there too. Go M's!

Cougars and Huskies Both Win

The Washington State Cougars were not
very impressive in their season opener
at home against Idaho.

Final WSU 13 Idaho 10

The Cougars scored their lone touchdown
in the first half. Heading into the 4th
quarter the Cougars were ahead 10-0
then the Vandals scored twice to tie.
The Cougars won the game with a field
goal with three seconds remaining.

The Cougars had no running game.
Kirby Vorhees led with 19 yards on
six carries so the passing game was
it. Be a long season for the Cougars
if they don't improve that part of the
game.

A surprise Jaxon Potter redshirt
sophomore Jaxon Potter. Going
into the game he was listed second
on the depth chart. Potter completed
23 of 30 passes for 208 yards. Ok
amount however not what the Cougars
are used to. Offensively they will need
to go back to the drawing board.

Idaho primarily ran the ball against the
Cougars successfully by quarterback
Joshua Wood. He carried the ball 12
times for 101 yards. He completed 12
passes as well out of 20 attempts for
measley 33 yards. We could say the
Cougars have a good pass defense
at this point.

Next Saturday they will host San Diego
State. They will their opener Thursday
night 42-0.

The Washington Huskies beat Colorado
State  in their first meeting ever 38-21.
The Huskies scored first after winning
the coin toss and decided to let the Rams
receive first. The first touchdown was by
running back Jonah Coleman who took it
in for 26 yards.  In total Coleman ran
for 177 yards and a second touchdown.
The Rams tied on their second possession.
The score was tied at halftime 14-14.
A turnover by the Huskies at the end of
the first half.

The Huskies took care of business in
the second half.  Their run defense
wasn't good in the first half as has
been a problem for several seasons.
They did turn it around in the second
half as the Rams ran for a minus six
yards. The Huskies resemble the
second half defense the rest of the
season they will be hard to beat.
They shutout the Rams in the fourth
quarter after giving up a touchdown
in the third quarter.

Huskies sophomore quarterback Demond
Williams Jr. making only his third career
start threw 24 passes while 18  for 226
yards. He also ran the ball 13 times for
68. His threat of running the ball will
help the Huskies during the season.
With Jonah Coleman being the primary
running back it will be important when
they face the physical teams in the Big
Ten.

Denzel Boston the Huskies number one
receiver caught five passes for 92 yards
and a touchdown for 12 yards in the
third quarter.

Next Saturday night the Huskies play
UC Davis at home again.  They won
their season open Saturday 31-24
over Utah Tech.

Go Dawgs!

Mariners Lose Again On Saturday

The Cleveland Guardians beat the
.Mariners once again. Not a great
way to start a road trip.

Logan Gilbert pitched well though gave
up a home run before leaving after six
innings.  Score Guardians 3 Mariners 0

The Mariners went 14 innings before
scoring once again and it was a solo
home run by Jorge Polanco who hit
a two-run homer in the first inning
Friday night.

Randy Arozarena started the game with
a double however no one could bring him.
The Mariners were able to record three
Zruns however came up short with
the Guardians scoring another run.
The Mariners went guiltily in the 9th
inning.

I can't believe a team can go into a funk
like the Mariners do. It is like when Labor
Day comes they don't often enough. They
will probably get hot again and miss the
playoffs by one game. I don't want to
think negative however this what this
team does. Let's see if they can find
a way to win on Sunday. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Late

The Seattle Mariners look like they
would win easily scoring four runs
in the first inning. Include was a
two-run homer by Jorge Polanco.

George Kirby pitched into the seventh
inning. When he left he gave up two
runs. I would have taken him out
after the Guardians hit a home run
in the sevent however that is me.
When taking out the starter is a
hard  thing for the Mariners. It wasn't
the reason they lost the offense
were shutout after the first.

Late in the game  Arozarena  hit a
ball where he was thrown out at
third. Not sure why the Mariners
were  not able to have the play to be
reviewed. On the broadcast that
the third baseman blocking third
can't be reviewed. Why that was
brought up I  don't understand.

The Guardians won in the bottom
if the 9th off of Munoz. Very disappointing
for sure. Saturday have to go after it
again. Now have to win two games in a
row.

Final Guardians  5 Mariners 4

This Year's Look At Washington Huskies In NFL Part 1

The Washington Huskies alumni will
be watching the Atlanta Falcons a lot
now that Michael Penix Jr..is the
starting Quarterback in second year
in the NFL. We are hoping a lot of him.

It will be interesting whether he will
be protected right or not. Veteran
right tackle Kaleb McGary was injured
in the final preseason game so we will
season. He to was drafted out of UW;
he is going to miss at least half the
season.

Edger rusher Braden Trice was looking
to play this year for the Falcons  howevey6 itr
he was placed on the injured list once.
At this point he is looking to miss four
games starting out.

Arizona Cardinals

Andre Baccelia is still trying to make it
on NFL roster however he was resigned
by the Cardinals to the practice squad.
Will he be able to play this year. Safety
Budda Baker .continues to be a pro bowler
and member of the Cardinals.

Baltimore Ravens

Roger Rosengarten drafted last year in
the second round  will be starting right
tackle As a rookie he started 14 games.

Buffalo Bills

Taylor Rapp safety will begin his third
season with the Buffalo Bills after four
years with the Los Angeles Rams.

Shaq Thompson signed as a free agent
after ten seasons with Carolina where
he was a starter. The last two years Shaq
only playing in six games because of
injuries. With the Bills he will be a
reserve at linebacker. As a veteran he
will give leadership. We wish Shaq
a healthy season.

Chicago Bears

Rome Odunze one of the top Huskies
all time receivers who was on the team
that played in the national championship
team in 2023 season was drafted last year
in the top ten in the first round. With a new
coaching staff we hope for a break out
season.

Kyler Gordon nickel back starter was drafted
by the Bears in 2022 in second round so will
be his fourth season. He has average 14
games per season. We hope to see him
play in all 17 games.

Cincinnati Bengals

Jake Browning will be the backup QB
once again.

Drew Sample will be the second tight
end. Mainly known for his blocking
he will catch a pass on occasion too.

Jaxson Kirkland offensive lineman
signed as an undrafted free agent
in 2023 played only two games last
year because of injuries was signed
to the practice squad.

Cleveland Browns

Joe Tryon-Shoyinka defensive end
signed as a free agent this year
after being with Tampa Bay. He is
the backup to all pro Myles Garrett.
We likely see him in every three series
it so depending on how the Browns are
playing.

Edufuan Ulofoshio linebacker was in
camp with the Buffalo Bills however
when waived he was signed to the
Browns practice squad.

Denver Broncos

Luke Wattenberg drafted in 2022 by the
Broncos took some time to play however
now he is the starting center. The only
former Husky on Denver.

Detroit Lions

defensive tack Levi Onwuzurike is out
for the season  after having surgery for his torn ACL.  Levi has had history of injuries.
We hope for a speedy recovery and rehab
where he will be back in 2026.

Ezekiel Turner veteran linebacker and
standout special teams injured his
achilles in the final preseason game.
Not sure how much time he will be out.

Houston Texans

Myles Bryant who began his NFL career
with the New England Patriots was just
waived by the Texans. The defensive back
we will see where he lands.

It is too bad so many former Huskies
are hurt. Let you know who is else
is in the NFL in the next round.
Go Dawgs!

Preview Idaho at Washington State

The Washington State Cougars play host
to the Idaho Vandals Saturday evening
in Pullman at 7 pm.  The game will be
nationally televised on the CW.

Even as a Husky fan you can watch the
first hour before their game starts.

The Cougars are favored by 9.5 points.
That is close in this series. The Cougars
have won ten straight over the Vandals.
The two teams haven't played since
September 2022. The last time Idaho
won was 2000 so been sometime.

The Cougars have a new head coach
in Jimmy Rogers coming from South
Dakota State. The Cougars have 70
new players as well so have to learn
new players.  So this game will see
how good are the Cougars going to
be.

In the season they will be favored
in several games especially early
on. After that it is a toss up for most
of the games at this point.

The Vandals will have a new quarterback
in Joshua Wood a transfer from Fresno
State. Nate Thomas takes over as the
leading running back. The Cougars coaching
staff are familiar with him since they
faced him in 2021 when he played for
South Dakota. He has been around for
a while it looks.

On defense the Vandals have lost their
top six tacklers so the Cougars could
have a field day offensively.

This should be in entertaining game.
At least we hope so anyway. Go Cougs!

Mariners Win Wednesday

The Seattle Mariners took the series
winning game three in another one
run game. Final Mariners 4 Padres 3

The big hit of the game was another
three-run homer by Eugenio Suarez
for the second straight game. This
put the Mariners up 4-0 then the Padres
fought back. A tough series against a
good team.

Bryan Woo didn't make it through six
innings for the first time on the season.
He got two outs though.  Munoz gave up
a run in the 9th however came through
other wise.

The Mariners called up Emerson Hancock
before the game. He didn't see action on Wednesday. Keep him feel good out in the
bullpen. Go M's.

Mariners Lose By One

Tuesday evening loss for the Mariners
was a tough one to swallow. Luis Castillo
got off to a rough start giving up five
runs in the first inning. At least he was
able to get through undamaged after
that. Personally I think if the Mariners
can trade him during the off-season
it would be fine to me. He and Bryan
Woo have been the only ones who have
been healthy all season long though
Castillo's fastball hasn't been where
it should be.

In the fifth inning the Mariners were able
two get two three-run homers from
Randy Arozarena and Eugenio Suarez
however that was short lived as the
Padres scored twice in the top of the
sixth inning. The Mariners had their
opportunities however could find a
way to score at least one run to tie
and another to win.

The Mariners bullpen did a good job
from the seventh inning on  to give
a fighting chance. Now it is important
to go out and win Wednesday before
heading out on the road.

Final Padres 7 Mariners 6

The Houston Astros were beaten
by Colorado on Tuesday 6-1 at home.
The Mariners didn't lose any ground.
The Astros are up by one and a half
games. They have three more wins
on the road than the Mariners for
the disaster the Mariners had on their
last one. A decent road trip the Mariners
would be in first place.

Coming up the Mariners start a new
road trip at Cleveland for three to
end August. Hope to take two out
of three.  Starting September 1st
they play three at Tampa Bay and
three at Atlanta before coming
back home.  It is important the
Mariners take at least 5 out of nine
though six would be better. Can't
afford another disaster road trip.
This will tell us whether the playoffs
is still there.  Go M's.

Preview Colorado State at Washington

The Washington Huskies begin their season
this coming Saturday night at home against
the Colorado State Rams.

This will be the second season in the
Big Ten for the Huskies while Rams
are in their final season in the Mountain
West Conference.

The Rams are expected to be in the
middle of the mountain West while the Huskies about the same in Big Ten.
The Huskies should win the game
however we hope the Rams will give
them a good show. The first game
is usually against a lighter team
unless two teams are showing off
in front of a national audience.

Last year the Rams were 6-1 in
the conference while 8-5 overall.
A reason they will probably lose to
the Huskies. Bosie State is figured
to win again and is ranked #23
nationally.

The Huskies and the Rams have
never played against each other
before. Right now the Huskies
are favored by 22.5 points.

Last year the Rams ran the ball
35 times a game for an average
of 4 7 yards per carry. The passed
30 times completing 60 percent.

This will be good for the Huskies
in first game since they have a
lot of new players on the defense
side. Let us see how good they are.
The last several years teams have
been able run on them. We hope
to see improve there.

The Rams are lead offensively by
quarterback junior Brayden Fowler-
Nicolosu who had 14 touchdowns
thrown and nine interceptions.
He isn't known to run the ball often.
On average three and a half times
per game. Gaining 1.7 per carry.

Offense they have three wide receivers
like the Huskies. They have three transfers
on offense at wide receiver, tight end and
right guard starting who are all seniors.
Five as backups. On defense they have
five transfers transfer. Like the Huskies
two are at linebacker. Also five on the
second team.

The game begins Saturday night at 8 pm
Pacific time and can be watched on the
Big Ten Network.  Go Dawgs

Seahawks Trim Their Roster

Tuesday was the day the Seahawks
had to get down to 53 man roster.
Some moves were a surprise for the team.
Include are 11 rookies making the team.

The Seahawks released veteran wide
receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling.
They signed him as a free agent during
the offense season.

They going to have 27 offensive and 23
defensive players.

Six wide receivers including Dareke Young
and Cody White who were questionable
whether they were making it or not. The
four backup receivers will be playing
special teams.

The Seahawks are serious about running
the ball having four tight ends and two
fullbacks. Undrafted free agent Nick Kallerup
was the fourth tight end.

Guard Christian Haynes wasn't expected
to make it however he was placed on IR.

Safety Jerrick Reed LL was waived on defense. He could be on the practice
squad. Seahawks waived 25 players
and 17 could be added to the practice
squad.

Seahawks can make some more moves
tomorrow so we see what happens..

Mariners Offense Alive Again

Monday night for the second game
the Seattle Mariners offense came
alive. It all began with another Cal
Raleigh home run in the first inning.

Now Cal has 50 home runs on the
season. Each time he hits one will
be a new record in major league
baseball. It will not be just for being
a catcher it could be for any position
at some point. The Mariners offense
is feeding off what Cal starts in the
these last two games.

Bryce Miller who made his second
start after injured list gave up three
home runs in the second inning.
Jorge Polanco who was the Mariners
hitting star on the night hit a two-run
home run in the second inning to
within one run.

In the 4th inning the Mariners were
able to load the bases with no outs.
JP Crawford hit into a double play
however the Mariners were able to
tie it. The 5th inning the Mariners had
their big inning making the difference.
The Mariners scored five runs which
included a double by Polanco who had
three hits on the night four rbis.

The Mariners didn't score again however
scored nine runs being enough to win.
The four runs that Miller gave up in the
second were all he did. He was able to
go five innings before Caleb Ferguson
came in and pitched a solid sixth inning.

The Mariners bullpen after Ferguson
gave up a couple runs so could say
bend but not break. Bazardo gave
up a home run in the seventh. Matt
Brash gave up two hits and a walk
in the 8th however no runs scored.
The Padres scored a run in  9th
off of Andre Munoz.

Final Mariners 9 Padres 6

The Mariners will be good if the
offense can continue be consistent
in scoring runs.  Emerson Hancock
continues to throw out of the pen
in Tacoma. The Mariners hope it
works out Hancock can contribute
out of the pen when they can add
him on September 1st roster call
up. He could end up being another
Matt Brash who started out as a
starter.  They have to see how often
he can come out of the pen. At this
point I would call it a success if he
does it once or twice a week. The
Mariners can use him as a long
reliever if necessary for a couple
innings.  Go M's.

The Seahawks have to make their
cuts by 1 pm Pacific time on Tuesday
down to the 53 man roster. After that
they can make their practice squad
for those not picked up by another
team.  The roster is pretty set however
we will see if any surprises happen.
Go Hawks!

Cal Set's Record Mariners Win

Sunday Cal Raleigh set the all-time
record for home runs for a catcher
with two in.his first two at bats of
the game. Now he has 49 on the
season. It is possible we could see
him hit at least 60 on the season.

The offense certainly differently
than Saturday night when they
had only three hits. The Mariners
showed what  they are capable of.
They had all eleven runs in the
first three innings

Logan Gilbert started and had 13
strike outs in six innings. Logan
had a tough outing in his last one
that it was a good feeling. Also
Logan and  Cal came up together
in the minors and were drafted
in same year. Logan in the first
round and Cal in the third.

The Mariners start a series Monday
against the Padres at home with
three. We see how things go. We
hope to see his 50th at least.
Go M's.

Mariners Lose Extra Innings

When you need to score and win games
the Mariners are not doing so

George Kirby was able to get through
six innings giving up just one run.
The trouble was the Mariners had only
three  hits.  One was a home run
by Randy Arozarena that tie it.
The Mariners couldnt find  a hit to
win on the 10th.

The A's were able to put down a
bunt to help score a run. The
Mariners had the bases loaded
including the A's giving them
a break in the bottom of tenth.
They couldn't come through
A difference between a team
that does win and  one that
tries.

Let's see they rebound on Sunday.
Go M's.

Seahawks Lose Saturday In Green Bay

There isn't much to say about the
final preseason game for the
Seahawks.

Final Packers 20  Seahawks 7

Jalen Milroe had his first start as
the Seahawks quarterback. It didn't
work out quite the way he or the
Seahawks were hoping for. We
hope he learned a lot. Head coach
Mike MacDonald said he hopes
learned to keep his hands on the
ball.

There were three turnovers that
the Packers scored on. So they
didn't get much out of their offense
either.  I am sure Milroe was
nervous to.

The regular season opener will
be on September 7th against the
San Francisco 49ers at home.

The team will be planning  to get ready
start that game. Next up we will hear
who makes the team, the injured list
those released. Let you know
smu surprise moves and players who
don't make it who may have been on the
team before. Most of the moves should be
made soon. The Seahawks could pick
up players from other teams too.

In other local sports today the Seattle Mariners released veteran utility player
Dylan Moore and reinststed outfielder
Victor Robles off the 60 day injured
list. It was announced he would have
to serve suspension for ten games for
throwing his bat while at Tacoma. He appealed however he will serve how
many games they decide on the appeal.
The Mariners won't be able to add
another player to the roster in his
absence.

The major league roster expands
on September 1st to 28.  Most likely
Robles will be serving his suspension
during that time depending on the
suspension appeal gets finished.
The Mariners on September will
likely be at  27 players. The team
usually add a position player and
a relief pitcher. The Mariners could
make the 27th player a position
a position player. They will however
be down Robles spot.

Robles is in right field on Saturday
night game.  It is possible he will
start his suspension when the Padres
come to town. Welcome back
Victor Robles. Go M's.

Mariners Win Pitching Duel

It was important for the Mariners to
win the opening home stand Friday
night especially losing five straight
on the home stand.

Final Mariners 3 A's 2

Before the 9th inning all four runs were
solo homers with three by the M's.
Brent Rooker had  his 26th home run
in the first inning off Mariners starter
Bryan Woo with two outs in the first
inning. It was the only hit and run
Woo gave up in the seven innings
he pitched.

A's starter Luis Morales gave up two
hits in six innings including the 40th
home run of the season to Eugenio Suarez.
in the fifth inning. The Mariners hit two home runs  by Josh Naylor and Jorge Polanco in
the seventh. Matt Brash got the first two
outs in the 8th then Gabe Speier came
in to finish the inning off left handed
hitter Nick Kurtz who has 26 home runs too

Andre Munoz came in and had his career
high 30 save on the season. Looks
like he will get more too. He did give
up a run on three hits however go
difficult out to save it.

Saturday night they will face the A's
in the middle game of the series.
Go M's.

Seahawks, Huskies and Cougars

The Seahawks are in Green Bay already
for Saturday's final preseason game
The two teams practice against each
other on Thursday. They got into a
scermish too. I wonder fines too.

The starting offense won't be playing
in this game and the defense we might
not sure either.  Rookie Jalen Milroe
we might see a lot of though Drew Lock
is second QB.  We might see either in
the regular season depending whether
Sam Darnold gets hurt or  the Seahawks
have a big lead or being trounced.
Don't be surprised to see Milroe come
in the red zone for his legs. Both quarterbacks could be in the game at
the same time. Go Hawks!

Huskies camp is over so getting ready
for the Colorado State on Saturday at
Husky Stadium. It will be a night game
on the Big Ten Network. We will have
a preview next week.

Colorado State is in the Mountain West
Conference however they will join the
new Pac-12 next season. In total there
will be eight  teams  right now. So it will
be interesting to see how they  work
the schedule and play teams out of the
conference

The same day the Washington State Cougars
play at home against the Idaho Vandals.
They play every year however the Cougars
win every year.

The Cougars are expected to be good
however the of play in college football
and the transfer portal it is hard to know.

New head coach Jimmy Rogers comes
over from South Dakota State. We expect
him to be a good coach. He is bringing
over several players over from South
Dakota  State. Until we see them play
we won't know if they are ready to go
up a level of not. We hope so. The
starting quarterback wont be name
until before the first game. Go Cougs#

Phillies Beat Up On Mariners

The Phillies Best the Mariners Wednesday
afternoon  11 to 2. It made this road trip
2-7 after they  were 8-1 at home. That means they only gained one game in 18 games.
Now we have to hope they can get it back
at home and not only have a successful
home stand in six games then onto the
next road trip.

We have to find out which team the Mariners
are the home team we saw or the one on
this road trip. I guess we will find out.

Luis Castillo went four innings giving up
three runs before exiting for throwing  too
many pitches for the second straight game

The Mariners will play three against the A's
followed by three against the Padres. If the
Mariners can do better against the A's
at home and play the same against the
Padres when they were on the road. I hope
to see a 4-2 record at least.

The Mariners start the next road trip in
Cleveland facing the Guardians for three
and end the month of August.  Josh
Naylor will want to show his former
team how he is going. The Mariners
want to resign him they need to show
him what they have got.  They start
September at Tampa Bay and Atlanta.
The Mariners need to win at least five
of the nine games to be contenders

The Mariners play the Cardinals and
the Angels at home after that road trip.
The final road series  will be at Kansas
City and Houston. We will see what the
Mariners are like for playoffs bound.
The final six games at home on the
regular season is against Colorado
Rockies and the Los Angeles  Dodgers
We hope the Mariners are in the playoffs
before meeting the Dodgers.

The Mariners have a solid eight position
players beginning with Cal Raleigh at
catcher. The trouble is the bench and dh
when Cal isn't there. Mitch Garver hasn't
had a bounce back season the Mariners
were hoping for. Polanco who has
been at dh most of the season against
righties had a great start however has
been inconsistent since. Dylan Moore
who had a good April hasn't been
good at all since. Most fans wonder why
he is still on the team.  I expect Garver,
Polanco and Moore won't be back next
season.

The starting rotation has had a good
season despite having injuries to
three of the starters. So we know
it could have been better and we
hope for that for the rest of the
season.

The bullpen has been tough on the
season. Matt Brash and Andre Munoz
have been good other than a couple
of times. They could have used
another high leverage reliever. Gabe
Speier has been solid from the left side.
They acquired Caleb Ferguson at the
deadline and had done solid most of the
time. He comes in early out of the
bullpen and Speier comes in later on
occasion. Ferguson is good to if
Speier needs a night off.

Eduardo Bazardo and Carlos Vargas
as number five and six  relievers have
had solid seasons and  both surprises.
Both pitchers should have not needed
to pitch as often as they have. Troy
Taylor began the season injured and
when he did return was not himself
and spent most of the season at Tacoma.
Also Collin Snider  who was right there
with Taylor hasn't had a good season
either. Really would have made five thru
eight very solid. The Mariners need to
find those who can do it at seven and
eight. One matching with Bazardo and
the other with Vargas. If not it might be
tough time to make the playoffs. The
Mariners will add a 9th reliever on September 1st however I hope none of the guys at
Tacoma.. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Again In Philadelphia

It isn't easy to win on the road especially
in Philadelphia. The Phillies are on a role
right now.

Final  Phillies 6 Mariners 4

The Mariners were behind 4-1 heading
into the seventh inning. Bryce Miller
Made his first start in a couple months.
He looked like he pitched well despite
making a couple mistakes. He ended
up going five innings giving up four
runs on 84 pitches.

The Mariners tied the game in the
7th inning when Cal and Eugenio
both hit doubles on base. The
fortunate thing is Matt Brash gave
up a home  run in 8th to give the
Phillies the win.

The Mariners made several moves
on Tuesday before the game. Besides
activating Miller they put Trent Thornton
on the 60 day injured. As expected they
would send down a reliever so Casey Legunmina was optioned to Tacoma.
They optioned Jackson Kowar to Tacoma
as well. They brought up reliever Saury
Lao from Tacoma. Expect him to be the
the number 8 reliever on the team right
now.  Go M's.

Gilbert and Mariners Lose

After having a good home stand this
road trip has been hard on the Mariners.
It has been a compensation of pitching
and pitching.

Logan Gilbert had a rough outing however
the Mariners bats have them a chance
but the bullpen cost them the game
too.

Gilbert gave up six runs going only two
Innings including two home runs. Carlos
Vargas gave them having three innings
of shutout out ball.

Casey Legunmina went two innings
giving up  giving runs. He is one reliever
the Mariners need to replace. At times
he does well however this has happen
way to often.

The Mariners scored four runs in the
top of the 7th to make it a game though
it would have been tough to overcome.
Mitch Garver had a solo home run while
Cole Young had a three run homer. The
Phillies matched it by scoring four runs
off of Legunmina.

The Mariners didn't give up scoring three
runs in the 9th inning.
Final Phillies 12 Mariners 7

Bryce Miller is going to return on Tuesday
coming off the injured list. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Series Final

The  Seattle Mariners lost series final
to the New York Mets Sunday evening
7-3.

This is now the second series on the
road after taking eight of nine at home
last week.  There has been a mix of
poor pitching and good pitching with
the lack of hitting. We could give credit
to the Orioles and the Mets too.

The Mets scored first in the second
with three runs then Julio who had
doubled scored on Polanco single

At that point the Mariners still had a
chance. In the fifth inning Mark Vientos
hit a three run homer making it hard
for the Mariners then a couple more hits
allowed the Mets to score their final
run of the game.

Cal Raleigh hit a two run homer in the
7th inning for his 47th of the season.
It looks it won't be long before Cal
breaks the record books for catchers
and it could happen in Philadelphia.
We will see.

We hope the Mariners can do  better
against the Phillies to salvage this
road trip.

George Kirby who had pitched well
recently including in Baltimore gave
Zip all seven runs in four and two-thirds
innings. Teyler Sauce recently called up
went 2 and 1/3 innings and Jackson
Kowar pitched the 8th.

Now the Mariners be in Philadelphia
for the next three games go M's.

Mets Take Game 2

The Mets rebounded Saturday afternoon
with the Mariners after both teams
scored a lot of runs in game one in
which the Mariners won.

This game was a pitching duel just
much like the series the Mariners
had against the Orioles in Baltimore

Final Mets 3 Mariners 1

The Mets started Nolan McLean
who made his first major league
start. McLean went five and
one-thirds innings though he didn't
give up a run and the Mariners only
had two hits. At that point the Mets
had only one run. They scored two
runs off lefty Caleb Ferguson who
relieved Bryan Woo had gone six
and one run in the third inning
Woo continues pitching well going
six innings once again.

The Mariners have had some trouble
against pitchers that they haven't
faced in a game before. You think they
would have an advantage over a pitcher
who had never pitched in the majors
before. It is hard  whether it is a mindset
or what in these situations.

Now the two teams go to the little
league world series is at to face
each. For the Mariners to have a
successful road trip they need to
win this game.  Go M's.

.

Seahawks Win Friday Night

Though it was only preseason it was
good the Seattle Seahawks beat the
Kansas City Chiefs 33-16.

The Seahawks starters were in the first
series and they were able to match down
the field scoring on a 81 yard drive.

Zach Charbonnet started the game at
running back and scored the first td
and carried five times for 45 yards.

Ken Walker ll didn't see any action and
hasn't seen action in camp either. Will
he be ready for the season opener we
will have to see.

The Seahawks had an impressive
running game going for 268 yards
on 48 carries. The Seahawks only
threw the ball 17 times for 209
yards and two touchdowns which
was the same for rushing. Jake
Bobo who is competing for a backup
receivers spot had both touchdowns
on his two catches.  Making the team
for Bobo will be how he does on special
teams as well which he is doing well too.

Starting quarterback Sam Darnold went
four for four in the first series for 34
yards. All three quarterbacks did a fine
job. Drew Lock the number two threw
12 times with ten completions for 129
yards and the two touchdowns to Bobo.

The next game and final preseason
game will be next Saturday against
the Packers in Green Bay. The Seahawks
could have a few cuts this coming
week however most will be after
next week's game.  We will give
you news about any recognizable
names who get cut or put on the
injured list. Go Hawks!

Mariners Win High Scoring Game

The  Seattle Mariners  beat the New York
Mets Friday night in opening game of
three.

Final Seattle 11 New York 9

The Mariners had a team high 9 doubles
Cal Raleigh had another home run
making it 46 and two down from the
record for a catcher. We could see him
break it on this road trip with five more
games.

Everyone had a hit in the lineup except
JP Crawford.  Dylan Moore who has
been struggling since May had a double
as well.

Neither of the starting pitchers did
well. Mariners Luis Castillo went
only four innings giving up six runs.
Castillo was given an extra off going
into this start. I wonder if he is better
staying in the same amount of days
off. He should pitch against the
Phillies on this road trip.

The Seahawks are playing right now
so we will see how it ends.

Mariners Lose Again

The Seattle Mariners almost had a chance
to be swept by the Orioles and at the same
time could have swept them.

In some cases the Mariners have played
down to the competition though we
could say the Orioles played up to the
competition.

The Mariners now go New York and
play the Mets. We hope to see the
offense get back on board.

Third game.   Orioles 5 Mariners 3

The Orioles were leading  5 to 0
when the rains came again and
delayed for a couple hours.

The big question was why Dylan
Moore was in the lineup in right
field. They were facing a lefty
so decided not to start Dominic
Canzone in right field. They
started Mitch Garver which makes
sense since Cal Raleigh caught
Wednesday night game and this
was a day game. The question
was why those two were both
in the lineup.

When action started again Julio
Rodriguez hit a home run. The
Mariners had other opportunities
to score but wasn't able to bring
in more runs to tie at least.

Logan Evans who started pitched
four innings. In the 4th inning he gave
up three innings after doing well
before then. Carlos Vargas came in
the fifth and surrendered  two runs.

I could see the offense come more
alive in the Mets series. If the pitching
can continue well the Mariners can
win the series.

Friday fans can not only watch the
Mariners play they see the Seahawks
too.

Seahawks Thursday

Last Thursday the Seahawks played the
Raiders at home in Lumen Field. This
week the Seahawks they play the Kansas
City Chiefs Friday in Lumen Field.

Last week the Seahawks went with
backup who are trying to make the
team. Again we will see these ones
once again.

The Seahawks may play their starters
however they will likely only play a
series of two.  The word hasn't come
out whether they will or not.

The thought is the Chiefs will only
play the backups. It will be interesting
how the Seahawks reserves do against
the Chiefs when they play whether
starting the game or coming in after
the first two series.

When it comes to starters it might
only be on the offense. They are
doing a new offense so might be
a good idea to see some playing
time while on defense they will
be playing the same as last season
so not as important.

In past several seasons the Seahawks
haven't played their starters during
the preseason. They have shown
getting off to slow starts when the
season starts so the question would
it be better to get some playing time
now. It is hard to say. They could get
off to a slow start anyway. Maybe
it has to do more in practice than
the game.  We will see. Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose In Walkoff Fashion

Wednesday night was another pitchers
however it didn't happen in Mariners
fashion.

The game was a shutout for both
teams heading into the 7th inning.
Julio was able to  score the go ahead
run however Logan Gilbert who did
a great job gave up two runs then
Gabe Speier a third. Gilbert has had
trouble getting through six innings
prior since coming off the injured.

The question is should the Mariners
allowed Gilbert to start the 7th. With
the lead he would have been the
winning pitcher. This is hardest part
of a manager's job is when to take
the starting pitcher out especially
with one run scored. Never know how
the relievers will do either.

Down by two runs Julio has another hit
and Eugenio Suarez was able to get on
as well. They pulled a double steal.
Josh Naylor ground out second scoring
Julio and Suarez was able to come in
on a Dominic Canzone sacrifice fly.
Unfortunately the Orioles scored on
a double down the right field corner
for the win. Had looked like it was
going to go into extra innings.

It was an amazing pitching duel since
the game was delayed in starting with
rain. Thursday the game will be played
in the afternoon. The Mariners will
then go onto New York to play the
Mets. Go M's.

Mariners Shutout Orioles

A good way to start the road trip
the Mariners beat the Orioles
1-0. Now the Mariners have won
eight straight games.

Randy Arozarena started the game
with a single then stole second.
Josh Naylor drove him in.

George Kirby may have pitched
his best game of the season.
No more run support makes it
hard to pitch perfect however
he was close. Kirby only gave up
three hits, no walks and seven
strike outs. This is for a guy who
had to start the season on the
injured.

The Orioles starter Dean Kremer
went eight innings. This means
both teams have relievers available
for the rest of the series.

The Mariners and Astros are tied
for first place.  They have identical
record at 67-53. Go M's

Washington Huskies Improvement Coming

For the Washington Huskies to have a better
this coming season than last year and
what was predicted on media day finishing
10th comes down to the offense and the
newcomers on defense.

Desmond Washington Jr. Is expected to
be good however it is his first year as
the every game starter. It is important he
stay healthy and possibly play better than
expect.

We hope that Jonah Coleman who has
s good season last year he will have an
even better on this season coming up.

Denzel Boston is the Huskies number
one receiver so we hope great things
from him. Having another receiver step
up be good. We hope improvement
from the tight ends as well as the offensive
line. Blocking will be important for the
line.

On defense the Huskies have a lot of
new guys to the program so we hope
they do well and a few guys will step
as well. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Sweep Rays

The Mariners got off to a great start
scoring four runs and the Rays starter
threw over forty pitches. Some how
he was able to turn things around
and went five in ings.

Cal Raleigh had another home run
making it three in the series. This
one was two-run shot with Arozarena
on base after being hit. The home
run now has tied Cal with Johnny
Bench with 25 and three behind
Salvador Perez for a catcher in a
season.

Julio singled then Josh Naylor
walked. On what was supposed
be a double steal the pitcher
balked. Eugenio singled to bring
both in. The Mariners couldn't get
more runs.

The second, third and fourth the
Rays made it interesting scoring
a run each inning. In the 4th
Ha-Seong Kim hits a home run
to make it interesting. The Rays
didn't get anymore on the night.

Bryan Woo again made it through
six innings  though it was on a tight
rope. He did question the  umpire
strike zone on the night.

In the seventh inning Josh Naylor
hit a line drive home run to right
field to give the Mariners more
of edge. He had a good night
in the field as well with a few
throws coming his way.

In the 8th inning the Mariners got
another insurance run when Dominic
Canzone singled to right field
bringing home Jorge Polanco.

Caleb Ferguson rebounded going
going an inning and two-thirds
facing lefties primarily then Vargas
finishing the 8th. Matt Brash pitched
the ninth to get his third save of
the season. He is now the closer
when Andre Munoz needs a day off.
Acquiring Ferguson helps out now
having two lefties. We see how this
works until September anyway.

The Astros won so they are half a
game ahead of the Mariners who
sent 9-1 on this home stand. Now
we have to see how they do on the
road trip when it starts Tuesday in
Baltimore. The Mariners are now
66-53.   They are at .55. Stay at that
rate they win 90 games. Go M's.

At Tacoma Sunday  they won 5-2 over
Reno.  Luke Raley hit a grand slam in
the first inning to help them win.
Harry Ford didn't play in the game.

Julio and Cal Join Together

The Seattle Mariners beat the Tampa Bay Rays for the second night in a row.
The final was Mariners 7 Rays 4

The Rays scored first on a home run
by Brandon Lowe in the first inning.
That was short lived lead as Julio
Rodriguez hit a two-run homer with
Randy Arozarena on base.

In the third inning Cal Raleigh hit
a three-run homer for the second
game in a row then Julio followed
with a solo shot for his second on
the night. Julio now has 23 home
runs on the season.

In the six inning Junior Caminero
who faced Cal in the final of the
home run derby at the all-star game
week hit a three-run homer of his
own to make the game interesting.

The Mariners final run was Cole
Young scoring on a wild pitch.
What was interesting Cole walked
all four of his appearances in the
game.

Now the Mariners on Sunday will
see if they can sweep the series
again the Rays and make it two
in a row.  The Mariners have Monday
off as they head to Baltimore to play
the Orioles for three games.

Before the game was the ceremony
to retire Ichiro Suzuki's number 51.
He had another enjoyable speech
in English. He told the team that they
can go far into the playoffs just seize
the moment under pressure. They
certainly started off on the right track.
Go M's.

Cal Raleigh Does It Again

It was a tough game for both
teams offense as Luis Castillo
went seven for the Mariners
and gave up two solo home runs.

Drew Rasmussen a local kid
from Puyallup Washington
shutout the Mariners for six
innings.  In the 8th inning  Cal
Raleigh came to the plate JP
Crawford and Cole Young had
a single to get on base. We
shouldn't be surprised Cal hit
a home run to put the Mariners
ahead and win a ball game.
It was Cal's 43 home run of
the season and the 16 to put
the Mariners ahead.

Saturday's game they will retire
Ichiro's number 51.  Each player
in the Mariners Hall of Fame will
be there.  It should be a loud
crowd for sure. The Mariners will
see if they can take the series.
It was important for them to win
as the Astros beat the Yankees today.
Go M's.

Seahawks and Raiders Tie

The Seahawks and the Raiders tied
23-33 on Thursday night in the first
preseason gamest Lumen Field in
Seattle.

The game was like what you would
expect some good things along
with improvement needing to come.

The Seahawks had one interception
quarterback Drew Lock  who threw
22 times completing 12 for 147 yards.
The defense had a couple of interceptions.
Lock started sluggish however improved
while the first half continued.  Expect to
see better performance in game two.

Rookie Jalen Milroe three the ball ten
times completing six for 61 yards.
No Tds.

The Seahawks threw the ball 32 times
while running ball 32 times as well.
This is what we like keeping the balance.
In the past few seasons the Seahawks
wanted to balance between run and
pass however abandoned the run when
it wasn't going good.

This game showed having a fullback
helped in running the ball. Rookie
fullback Robbie Ouzts did a great job
blocking. He didn't run the ball once
though did catch one for 17. Brady
Russell the backup was the same
and caught a pass for 7 yards. Though
won't see either running the ball often
I wouldn't be surprised if they may on
third and short a couple times a game.

Sam Darnold the starting quarterback
we couple see him in game two for
a series of two. Lock and Milroe would
do the rest of the time. They could
wait on Darnold for game three.

In recent years the Seahawks wouldn't
start Geno Smith at all during the preseason
or the running backs. I thought that was
the reason the Seahawks would get off
slowly at the beginning of the season.
Of course you never know whether making
the difference of not.

Rookie Tory Horton led the receivers with
three catches including the sole passing
touchdown. He and Jake Bobo who had
two catches will likely be the 4th and 5th
receivers when the season starts. Whether
the Seahawks go with six receivers hard
to know.

The Raiders there the ball 40 times
while running 26 times so the Seahawks
defensive backs had their time to get
in good plays. The starters on defense
didn't play at all.

Preseason Game two will be next Friday
against the Kansas City Chiefs. We will
see how the Seahawks will do in that
one. Go Hawks!

Mariners Sweep White Sox

The Mariners Thursday afternoon beat
the White Sox 4-3 in 11 innings. It was
nice since they have lost more extra
inning games then they have won.

Logan Gilbert continues not going
beyond five innings though this time
he only gave up one run on two hits.
He threw 94 pitches while walking
three and striking out 6.

Randy Arozarena hit his 23 home run
in the third inning for two runs.
The White Sox had a home run off
Gilbert  in the 5th inning and then tied
it in seventh with a home run off of
Carlos Vargas. Both teams scored a
run in the tenth then Suarez who
started at second base was driven in
by Dominic Canzone with one out
in the 12th inning.

The Astros didn't play so the Mariners
gained a half game on them.

Josh Naylor had to leave the game in
the 4th inning with discomfort. We will
find out whether he plays tomorrow
night against Tampa Bay Rays. Go M's.

Mariners Win Again Wednesday Night

Wednesday night was big for the
Mariners to win as both the Astros
and Rangers both lost.

Final Mariners 8 White Sox 6

The Mariners got most of their runs
in inning one and two. Josh Naylor
hit a two run homer in the first inning.
In the second inning Cal Raleigh
drove in two runs with the bases loaded.
Julio followed with a three run homKirbyer.

George  Kirby pitched well going six
innings giving up two runs. It was
the bullpen almost fail them. Bazardo
who has pitched well most of the
season gave up three runs on two
homers in the seventh. Eugenio Suarez
had a sacrifice fly in the seventh to
put the lead back to three.

Gabe Speier pitched a good eighth
however Andre Munoz struggled
one of few times this season giving
the White Sox s chance. He walked
s couple batters however was able
to get out of it without surrendering
another run. This is a great thing
with Munoz when he gets out of
trouble he usually gets out of it too.
The Mariners play Thursday afternoon
in the final game of the series. Go M's

Seahawks Defense Heading Into Preseason

The Seahawks defense right now the
starters haven't changed. Rookie Nick
Emmanwori is listed as the third safety.
Just like Devon Witherspoon is listed
as the nickel back and moves around
on the field Emmanwori will do so in
similar fashion.

Emmanwori is having a very good camp
so it will be interesting to see where
he is planted during preseason. The
starters not playing a lot in preseason
we could Emmanwori in a lot of different
situations and see how things work out.
He could play the standard safety spot
as well as the nickel back. He is listed
at 6'3 so he could go against tall receivers
as Julian Love is 5'11 and Colby Bryant
at 6'1.   Nickel back would depend whether
a speedster or not. We could see the
Seahawks try Love at nickel too. The
importance is for the defense to mix
things up to keep the offense off guard.

DeMarcus Lawrence is listed as the
edge rusher along with Derrick as
well.  They have three linebackers
however how much they play will
depend on the other team passing
or not. We know Ernest Jones IV
will be in most every play however
the other linebackers could change.
Preseason we will see different.
The defensive line will be three up
front with Byron Murphy ll in at
nose tackle.

Enjoy the first preseason. Let you
know it goes. Go Hawks!

Mariners Take Game One

I have said it before always good to
take game one of s series. Never know
the series will go however this win
will help. The Astros and  Rangers
won so important to keep winning.

Bryan Woo went seven innings for
the M's. He gave up a home run
to the second batter of the game
and that was it.  He gave up one
other hit on the night. Woo struck
out nine and had no walks.

Dominic Canzone hit a home run
in the second inning to tie. Eugenio
Suarez hit a two-run homer in
4th and Mariners didn't look back.
Josh Naylor hit a home run in
the sixth.  They scored a few runs
by doing small ball. Naylor and
Suarez pulled off a double steal
and Polanco drove both in.

Final Mariners 8 White Sox 3

George Kirby pitched Wednesday.
We hope to see a replay by him
like in his last start. Go M's.

Seahawks First Preseason Game

The Seattle Seahawks first preseason
game happens this Thursday against
Coach Pete Carroll and Las Vegas
Raiders in Seattle. Most likely won't
see quarterback Geno Smith though.
Both will have large ovation before
the game.

The starters we won't see unless
it is  at center and right guard as those
two positions are still up in the air.

At running back there competition
between Ken Walker lll and Zach
Charbonnet. Walker still having trouble
staying healthy and third back right
now and Damien Martinez from Miami
and former Oregon State Beaver is
third. Probably see a lot of him in
the first half. George Holani who
played a little last year will probably
see action along with some others.

Jake Bobo sounds like he will make
the club again this year. There is Tory
Horton a rookie to see who will make.

It will be interesting to see who makes
at tight end and fullback as the backups
too.  Wednesday we will look at the defense
heading into Thursday. The starters are
pretty set just who will be the backups.
Go Hawks!

The Mariners minor leagues update

The Mariners have Monday off
and will begin another
three-game series at home
on Tuesday against the Chicago
White Sox. So decided to look
at the Mariners minor leaguers.

Sunday evening Adam Jude of
the Seattle Times write that
shortstop Colt Emerson the
Mariners number one pick in
2023 and the number one
prospect of the Mariners has
been promoted from Everett
to doubleA Arkansas..He certainly
is on the fast track to the majors.
He  was hitting  .281 with 11 home
runs and 52 rbis. Since June 1 he
has been hitting .313 with seven
home runs.

Jurrangelo Cijntje  2024 number one
pick pitcher who throws right and left
handed was promoted from Everett
to double A Arkansas as well. If you
look at his era 4.58 alone doesn't look
to impressive however he has 83
strike outs in 74.2 innings. His walk
ratio to innings sound high with 35.
The Mariners must feel these two
are ready to make the jump.

This means that others likely be
promoted going up the chain.

Felnin Clesten  19 year old shortstop,
Mariners number six prospect could
be promoted from low A Modesto
to Everett. He has leveled a bit however
is still hitting.275. He is striking out
once a game which is good. His walks
ratio to strikeouts isn't great however
we could say he is learning to hit in
the minor leagues.

Ryan Sloan drafted last year in the
second round and considered the
best high school pitcher in the draft
has gotten off to a good start at
Modesto. He has a 3.70 era with
72 strikeouts in 65.2 innings. Even
more impressive has only 15 walks.
He could be the pitcher promoted.

Lazaro Montes outfielder and number
two Mariners number two prospect his
average is hitting only .219 at Arkansas
after beginning the season at Everett.
He does have seven home runs at
Arkansas. In total 25 on the season.
According to some experts Montes
might be better off playing at first
base than the outfield. We will see
how that works out.

Harry Ford catcher at triple A Tacoma
continues to be having a good season.
With Cal Raleigh being the clear catcher
for the Mariners was not traded before
the deadline as some expected is likely
be on the Mariners roster next season
unless traded during the off-season.
There is the likelihood the Mariners
won't resign Mitch Garver on the off-
season since he will be a free agent.
Besides catching will Ford dh when
not behind the plate or will the
Mariners look for some other position
for him.

We will look further on the Mariners
minor leaguers in the weeks ahead.
If you have Roots Sports not only
will the Mariners be on television
we will be able to see some of the
minor league teams play too. I
see that as a good sign and I wanted
that for some time. Go teams.

Mariner Win Home Series

The Seattle Mariners took three out of
four games at home against the Texas
Rangers.  Three of the games were close
except the opener the Mariners won.

Sunday afternoon the Mariners beat
the Rangers  5-4. Though they added
more offense the scores are still by
one run. We hope this improves over
the weeks ahead. The pitching should
improve and have the bullpen not
have to pitch so many innings.

The Mariners had three home runs
that helped them win.. Jorge Polanco
had a solo home run in the second
inning putting the Mariners up 1-0.
Corey Seager had a home run to
put the Rangers up briefly then Julio
Rodriguez had a two-run homer in
the third inning  making it his 20th
of the season and his career 100th
home run. Also four years  hitting
at least 20 home runs. In the 4th
inning JP hit another two-run homer
in the series to make the difference.

Saturday the Mariners used seven
pitchers in relief and fortunately
only three in this one. The Mariners
have Monday off so that will help
the bullpen and take on the Chicago
White Sox beginning on Tuesday.

The Mariners are now two and a half
behind the Astros after they lost
again on Sunday. The Astros have
injuries that are hurting them.
Go M's.

Mariners Lose In Extra Innings

The Texas Rangers  beat the Seattle Mariners
6-4 in 11 innings.  Both teams scored
two runs each in 9 innings.  The Rangers scored their two runs on a home run in the
third inning.

The Mariners scored where JP Crawford
came home on a balk and Randy Arozarena
On a double by Julio Rodriguez.

After the Rangers scored two runs in
the 10th Randy Arozarena hit a two run
homer. Rangers scored two more in
the 11th, however the Mariners couldn't.
Interesting JP Crawford came up with
the runner on base however couldn't
get a hit alone a homer run.

The Mariners used seven relievers in the
game. See who they use relievers on
Sunday. Logan Evans will have to go at
least five innings no matter how many
runs he gives.  Go M's.

JP Crawford WalkOff

Friday night's game was touch and go
for the Mariners. Head into the the 9th
inning the Mariners were down 3 to 2.

Both Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez
missed a home run .late in the game.
Eugenio missed a double in the left
field corner.

Now JP became the hero with his
first walk off home run with Miles Mastrobuino on first base who pinch
run for Dominic Canzone who had a
single.

Now the Mariners will have two
day games on Saturday and Sunday.
This is like playoffs atmosphere so
should have good crowds both games.

The Mariners are now two games
ahead of the Rangers. The Astros
lost Friday do Mariners are now
three games down.  Go M's.

Mariners Blank Rangers

The Seattle Mariners and the Texas
Rangers tied going into there series
opener on Thursday night.

The Mariners did the right thing
winning the series  opener beating
the Rangers 6-0.

Eugenio Suarez has his first hit
back in the Mariners uniform
in the 4th inning for a double.
Jorge Polanco had a fly out to
center moving Suarez to third.
He scored on a wild pitch.

In the 5th inning Cole Young
showed great power hitting
a home run that traveled 470
feet to second deck in right
field. It was longest home
run in T-Mobile Park in a long
time. Cal Raleigh had his 42
home run that just cleared
the right field fence.

In the sixth inning the Mariners
scored their last three runs.
JP Crawford hit a single to drive
in Polanco who had walked.
Cole Young had triple to drive
in JP and he scored on a pass
ball

The Mariners changed up the
lineup with the return of Suarez.
Randy Arozarena moved to lead
off while JP Crawford moved
down to the 8th spot while.Cal
Raleigh went to second followed
by Julio Rodriguez. Suarez inserted
at clean up followed by Josh Naylor
and Polanco before JP and Cole
Young. Looks like a mighty lineup.

George Kirby started and went six
innings giving up three singles and
two walks while striking out six.
Kirby didn't still look his best however
giving up no runs can't complain.

Caleb Ferguson made his first appearance
coming in the seventh and giving up no
hits.  Trent Thornton followed going on
and one-thirds innings. He gave up one
hit and struck out one. Thornton hasn't
had the best season however with a
big lead good time to get him in and
work on getting better.

Casey Legunmina finished by striking
out the last hitter in the game. He
like Thornton never know what he
will give. It would have been nice
had the Mariners would have gotten
another reliever before the deadline
however it wasn't the lack of trying.

Though the dead line for trading is
over teams can still trade however
the players have to go through
waivers so another team could
block it if they desire. See if the
Mariners could pick up another
reliever.

The acquisition of Ferguson the
Mariners sent down Jackson Kowar
to Tacoma. Personally I would have
made another move. With Suarez
the Mariners sent Ben Williamson
to Tacoma to continue with playtime.
They recalled utility player Miles
Mastrobuino from Tacoma.

Logan Gilbert will start Friday for the
Mariners followed by Luis Castillo
on Saturday and Logan Evans on
Sunday. The Mariners have Monday
off then Chicago White Sox come
to Seattle for three followed by Tampa
Bay for three. The Mariners next road
trip will start in Baltimore on Tuesday
August 12.

Mariners Lose Final to A's However More News

Wednesday night the Seattle Mariners
lost to the  A's in the final game played
by both teams in Sacramento this
season 5-4.

All-star pitcher Bryan Woo who has pitched
well against the A's had his second game
in a row where he gave up five runs.
The A's hit four home runs on the night
while the Mariners had three the difference
in the game.

Woo went six and a third innings. His final
run was in the 7th inning.  I know it is hard
to know when to take the starter out however
the Mariners may have had a better chance
if Woo had been taken out after six. We
will never know for sure.

Randy Arozarena hit a home run in the
9th inning to cut it down to one however
the Mariners were unable to tie or win
the game.  The Mariners now come
home to face the Texas Rangers for
four games starting Thursday night.

Before the game the Mariners acquired
left handed reliever Caleb Ferguson
from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates
were playing the Giants in San Francisco
so the Mariners sent a limousine to
bring him to Sacramento. He didn't pitch
in the game though in the bullpen

In the 8th inning Aaron Goldsmith
announced on Roots Sports that
the Mariners had reacquired third
baseman  Eugeno Suarez from the
Arizona Diamondbacks for first
baseman Tyler Locklear who was
just brought up from Tacoma and
was activated while Luke Raley
went on the injured list.  The
Diamondbacks were getting two
minor league pitching prospects
from the Mariners as well.

Another bizarre part of the story
is the Diamondbacks arrived in
town during the Mariners and
A's game so if this all true than
Eugeno will be on the plane with
his Mariners teammates back to
Seattle.

Thursday we will see if the Mariners
have anything else in their sleeve
before the trading deadline ends.
