Rangers tied going into there series
opener on Thursday night.
The Mariners did the right thing
winning the series opener beating
the Rangers 6-0.
Eugenio Suarez has his first hit
back in the Mariners uniform
in the 4th inning for a double.
Jorge Polanco had a fly out to
center moving Suarez to third.
He scored on a wild pitch.
In the 5th inning Cole Young
showed great power hitting
a home run that traveled 470
feet to second deck in right
field. It was longest home
run in T-Mobile Park in a long
time. Cal Raleigh had his 42
home run that just cleared
the right field fence.
In the sixth inning the Mariners
scored their last three runs.
JP Crawford hit a single to drive
in Polanco who had walked.
Cole Young had triple to drive
in JP and he scored on a pass
ball
The Mariners changed up the
lineup with the return of Suarez.
Randy Arozarena moved to lead
off while JP Crawford moved
down to the 8th spot while.Cal
Raleigh went to second followed
by Julio Rodriguez. Suarez inserted
at clean up followed by Josh Naylor
and Polanco before JP and Cole
Young. Looks like a mighty lineup.
George Kirby started and went six
innings giving up three singles and
two walks while striking out six.
Kirby didn't still look his best however
giving up no runs can't complain.
Caleb Ferguson made his first appearance
coming in the seventh and giving up no
hits. Trent Thornton followed going on
and one-thirds innings. He gave up one
hit and struck out one. Thornton hasn't
had the best season however with a
big lead good time to get him in and
work on getting better.
Casey Legunmina finished by striking
out the last hitter in the game. He
like Thornton never know what he
will give. It would have been nice
had the Mariners would have gotten
another reliever before the deadline
however it wasn't the lack of trying.
Though the dead line for trading is
over teams can still trade however
the players have to go through
waivers so another team could
block it if they desire. See if the
Mariners could pick up another
reliever.
The acquisition of Ferguson the
Mariners sent down Jackson Kowar
to Tacoma. Personally I would have
made another move. With Suarez
the Mariners sent Ben Williamson
to Tacoma to continue with playtime.
They recalled utility player Miles
Mastrobuino from Tacoma.
Logan Gilbert will start Friday for the
Mariners followed by Luis Castillo
on Saturday and Logan Evans on
Sunday. The Mariners have Monday
off then Chicago White Sox come
to Seattle for three followed by Tampa
Bay for three. The Mariners next road
trip will start in Baltimore on Tuesday
August 12.
