lost to the A's in the final game played
by both teams in Sacramento this
season 5-4.
All-star pitcher Bryan Woo who has pitched
well against the A's had his second game
in a row where he gave up five runs.
The A's hit four home runs on the night
while the Mariners had three the difference
in the game.
Woo went six and a third innings. His final
run was in the 7th inning. I know it is hard
to know when to take the starter out however
the Mariners may have had a better chance
if Woo had been taken out after six. We
will never know for sure.
Randy Arozarena hit a home run in the
9th inning to cut it down to one however
the Mariners were unable to tie or win
the game. The Mariners now come
home to face the Texas Rangers for
four games starting Thursday night.
Before the game the Mariners acquired
left handed reliever Caleb Ferguson
from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates
were playing the Giants in San Francisco
so the Mariners sent a limousine to
bring him to Sacramento. He didn't pitch
in the game though in the bullpen
In the 8th inning Aaron Goldsmith
announced on Roots Sports that
the Mariners had reacquired third
baseman Eugeno Suarez from the
Arizona Diamondbacks for first
baseman Tyler Locklear who was
just brought up from Tacoma and
was activated while Luke Raley
went on the injured list. The
Diamondbacks were getting two
minor league pitching prospects
from the Mariners as well.
Another bizarre part of the story
is the Diamondbacks arrived in
town during the Mariners and
A's game so if this all true than
Eugeno will be on the plane with
his Mariners teammates back to
Seattle.
Thursday we will see if the Mariners
have anything else in their sleeve
before the trading deadline ends.
