Phillies Beat Up On Mariners

The Phillies Best the Mariners Wednesday
afternoon  11 to 2. It made this road trip
2-7 after they  were 8-1 at home. That means they only gained one game in 18 games.
Now we have to hope they can get it back
at home and not only have a successful
home stand in six games then onto the
next road trip.

We have to find out which team the Mariners
are the home team we saw or the one on
this road trip. I guess we will find out.

Luis Castillo went four innings giving up
three runs before exiting for throwing  too
many pitches for the second straight game

The Mariners will play three against the A's
followed by three against the Padres. If the
Mariners can do better against the A's
at home and play the same against the
Padres when they were on the road. I hope
to see a 4-2 record at least.

The Mariners start the next road trip in
Cleveland facing the Guardians for three
and end the month of August.  Josh
Naylor will want to show his former
team how he is going. The Mariners
want to resign him they need to show
him what they have got.  They start
September at Tampa Bay and Atlanta.
The Mariners need to win at least five
of the nine games to be contenders

The Mariners play the Cardinals and
the Angels at home after that road trip.
The final road series  will be at Kansas
City and Houston. We will see what the
Mariners are like for playoffs bound.
The final six games at home on the
regular season is against Colorado
Rockies and the Los Angeles  Dodgers
We hope the Mariners are in the playoffs
before meeting the Dodgers.

The Mariners have a solid eight position
players beginning with Cal Raleigh at
catcher. The trouble is the bench and dh
when Cal isn't there. Mitch Garver hasn't
had a bounce back season the Mariners
were hoping for. Polanco who has
been at dh most of the season against
righties had a great start however has
been inconsistent since. Dylan Moore
who had a good April hasn't been
good at all since. Most fans wonder why
he is still on the team.  I expect Garver,
Polanco and Moore won't be back next
season.

The starting rotation has had a good
season despite having injuries to
three of the starters. So we know
it could have been better and we
hope for that for the rest of the
season.

The bullpen has been tough on the
season. Matt Brash and Andre Munoz
have been good other than a couple
of times. They could have used
another high leverage reliever. Gabe
Speier has been solid from the left side.
They acquired Caleb Ferguson at the
deadline and had done solid most of the
time. He comes in early out of the
bullpen and Speier comes in later on
occasion. Ferguson is good to if
Speier needs a night off.

Eduardo Bazardo and Carlos Vargas
as number five and six  relievers have
had solid seasons and  both surprises.
Both pitchers should have not needed
to pitch as often as they have. Troy
Taylor began the season injured and
when he did return was not himself
and spent most of the season at Tacoma.
Also Collin Snider  who was right there
with Taylor hasn't had a good season
either. Really would have made five thru
eight very solid. The Mariners need to
find those who can do it at seven and
eight. One matching with Bazardo and
the other with Vargas. If not it might be
tough time to make the playoffs. The
Mariners will add a 9th reliever on September 1st however I hope none of the guys at
Tacoma.. Go M's.
