Mariners Offense Alive Again

Monday night for the second game
the Seattle Mariners offense came
alive. It all began with another Cal
Raleigh home run in the first inning.

Now Cal has 50 home runs on the
season. Each time he hits one will
be a new record in major league
baseball. It will not be just for being
a catcher it could be for any position
at some point. The Mariners offense
is feeding off what Cal starts in the
these last two games.

Bryce Miller who made his second
start after injured list gave up three
home runs in the second inning.
Jorge Polanco who was the Mariners
hitting star on the night hit a two-run
home run in the second inning to
within one run.

In the 4th inning the Mariners were
able to load the bases with no outs.
JP Crawford hit into a double play
however the Mariners were able to
tie it. The 5th inning the Mariners had
their big inning making the difference.
The Mariners scored five runs which
included a double by Polanco who had
three hits on the night four rbis.

The Mariners didn't score again however
scored nine runs being enough to win.
The four runs that Miller gave up in the
second were all he did. He was able to
go five innings before Caleb Ferguson
came in and pitched a solid sixth inning.

The Mariners bullpen after Ferguson
gave up a couple runs so could say
bend but not break. Bazardo gave
up a home run in the seventh. Matt
Brash gave up two hits and a walk
in the 8th however no runs scored.
The Padres scored a run in  9th
off of Andre Munoz.

Final Mariners 9 Padres 6

The Mariners will be good if the
offense can continue be consistent
in scoring runs.  Emerson Hancock
continues to throw out of the pen
in Tacoma. The Mariners hope it
works out Hancock can contribute
out of the pen when they can add
him on September 1st roster call
up. He could end up being another
Matt Brash who started out as a
starter.  They have to see how often
he can come out of the pen. At this
point I would call it a success if he
does it once or twice a week. The
Mariners can use him as a long
reliever if necessary for a couple
innings.  Go M's.

The Seahawks have to make their
cuts by 1 pm Pacific time on Tuesday
down to the 53 man roster. After that
they can make their practice squad
for those not picked up by another
team.  The roster is pretty set however
we will see if any surprises happen.
Go Hawks!
