Mariners Shut Out Astros Again

 Mariners 1 Astros 0

The Mariners did something they
haven't done before and I am sure
many other teams either shutting out
the Astros two games in a row.

It was a nail biter going down to the
last pitch. On a 3-2 pitch to rookie
centerfielder Jake Meyers with two
outs with runners on first and second.
Meyers thought he had walked however
the home plate umpire called him out
as the ball was the far corner of home
plate. All the fans were standing up
in T-Mobile Park. What a game.

For the second game in a row Abraham
Toro came up to the plate with the bases
loaded. This time in the sixth inning.
Last night it was a grand slam but this
time he hit a sacrifice fly to shallow
left center . JP Crawford with his speed
was able to score.

The Mariners now head to Arizona to
take on the Diamondbacks Friday thru
Sunday. The Diamondbacks are last in
the national league West. As we have
seen it won't be easy as the Mariners
seem to have trouble against the teams
bottom of the standings. After a day off
on Thursday to fly to Arizona the Mariners
hope to have a good series. They will
then go onto Houston to take on these
Astros once again for three games. It
will be the last time to play the Astros
in the regular season.

Logan Gilbert who had a terrible August
rebounded by going five innings with
giving up four hits. He didn't walk a
batter and stuck out four. We certainly
see at times what we will have in the
future.  Justus Sheffield came in the
6th inning off the injured list. He gave
up one hit however looked like he
pitched with a lot of confidence. His
spot in the bullpen looks good. Sheffield
can give his all whether he goes one,
two, or three innings. He only has to
use two pitches if necessary to. Look
forward to his next outing.

We not sure what we will get out of
the starters the rest of the season
though Flexen and Anderson look
toward to continue what they have.
If Gonzales can continue what he
did in August and Kikuchi look like
he did on Tuesday along with Gilbert
things look promising. All we need
a bit more offense. Go M's.
