Mariners Win Final Game Against Astros

 Mariners 8 Astros 5

The Seattle Mariners were able to
beat the Astros in Houston for the
final time to meet on the season.

Like in so many games this year
the Mariners and Astros were tied
going into the 9th inning 4-4. Jose
Marmolejos recalled about ten days
again from Tacoma hit a double
to score two runs then JP Crawford
has a two-run homer to score him
and Jose.

Paul Sewald came in the 9th inning.
He gave up a home run to Bregman
like he had on Tuesday night, but
this time no runner on base and the
Mariners leading by four. Sewald
was able to finish the 9th without
anymore damage.

Jarred Kelenic had a couple hits
on the night. Nice to see. He drove
in two of the runs earlier and was
on base along with Dylan Moore
who had pinch run when Jose
had his double. All the Mariners
starters in the lineup had at least
one hit in the game except for
Tom Murphy.

The Mariners now come home
to face the Arizona Diamondbacks
over the weekend. Despite the two
losses in Houston the Mariners are
7-3 in their last ten games while
the Oakland A's are 4-6. So the
Mariners are now in second place
behind the Astros by five and a half
games. Most likely the Mariners
won't catch them but strangers have
happened.

Most people predicted the Mariners
would win maybe 76 games on the
season. After losing pitchers like
flies in April winning that many
games sounded far fetched. Now
the Mariners are 76-64 with 22
games.

Had the Mariners beat the Rangers
at least one more time along with
Kansas City and Detroit along with
another victory they would be at
80 wins right now. The Rangers
have such a bad record they can
win all rest of their games and
the Mariners lose all of theirs
and still not finish ahead of
the Mariners.

The Mariners win half of their
remaining games which is eleven
they would have 87 wins which
is quite an accomplishment. We
could see the Mariners winning
90 games on the season if they
go 14-8. The Mariners won 15
games in August and 14 in July.
Actually the least amount of
wins was in May with 13.

If you haven't heard yet Kyle
Lewis is lost for the rest of
the season. Could use his bat
but that is how it goes sometimes.
Go M's.
