Cougars Upset Again

For the third game in a row the
Cougars were upset at the end.
Yes Wyoming threw a touchdown
with 24 seconds remaining.

Final Wyoming 15 WSU 14

The Cougars scored first on a
37 yard touchdown pass to
Kyle Williams at 6:08 in the
first quarter.

Wyoming had a field goal with
4 seconds remaining in the first
quarter.

The second quarter went the same way
with Cougars scoring a TD  at 9:42.
Wyoming kicked a field goal to end
the half.

The third quarter Wyoming kicked
a 42 yard field  at 2:07

It looked like Cougars would
win until the Cowboys got the
ball. It seems the Cougars have
trouble after getting off to a
good start in recent seasons.
Now we have to wait to see
what bowl game they will go
too. It certainly won't be one
they had hoped for three weeks
ago. Go Cougs!

The Washington Huskies were
scored again this time early
in the fourth quarter. The score
right now Oregon 42 Washington 14.

Now we will have to see where
Washington will go for a bowl
game. The three game winning
streak will be over. I am sure
everyone were hoping for a
better season however with a
lot of new players and coaching
staff couldn't expect much better.
Go Dawgs!

Washington Huskies Men Win Tournament

The Washington Huskies beat
Santa Clara Friday afternoon
76-69 to win tournament.

Santa Clara is one of the top
teams in the West Coast Conference
along with Gonzaga so this is a
big win for them.

The Huskies lead at halftime 42-33.
Santa Clara did have some runs in
the second half however the closest
was six points within the last minutes
of the game however couldn't get
passed the Huskies.

Great Osobar who lead the Huskies
with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5
assists was named MVP of the
Acrisure Invitational.  Freshman
guard Zoom Diallo out of Tacoma
was second with 15 points. DJ
Davis who has been coming off
the bench in recent games after
starting before had 13 points.
They were the only three in double
figured. The Huskies went with an
eight-man rotation. Tyler Harris
who led the Huskies the two previous
games had only five points though
had six rebounds. Currently Osobor
is primary inside man although
Wilhelm Breidenbach played 17
minutes and had 8 points and 3
rebounds. The Huskies are now
6-1.

The Huskies next two games will
be against former Pac-12 rivals
and new rivals in the Big Ten.
They play at UCLA next Tuesday
and at home next Saturday against
USC. After that more non league
games. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Announce New Coaching Staff

The Mariners announced coaching
staff for 2025 on Tuesday.

Dan Wilson will return as manager
Edgar Martinez returns with a new role.
He will still be involved in the Mariners
hitters with a new title. Edgar will be
Senior Director of hitting strategy.
He see his time at home games but
won't go on the road with the team.
He will be in charge of development
in practices and philosophies.

Kevin Seitzer is the new hitting coach.
He spent the last ten years as the hitting
coach for the Atlanta Braves.
He was a very good hitter in 12
years in the major leagues. Most of
his seasons were with the Kansas City
Royals and Milwaukee Brewers where
he played mostly third baseman.
His career batting average was .295
though he had only 74 hits. Kevin's
best season was his first full season
where he played in every game but one.
He had a career high 105 runs, 207 hits,
8 triples, 15 home runs, 83 RBIs,
85 strikeouts and .323 batting average.
In eight season he walked more than
strikeouts. This is something the M's
could use.

The Mariners have assistant coach
Bobby Magallanes spent 2021 thru
2023 in the same role with the Atlanta
Braves too. So both know each other.

The Mariners have new first base
coach in Eric Young Jr., and Major
League Field coordinator Louis Boyd.
He comes in to the take the spot of
Carson Vitale who goes to Miami
Marlins as the bench coach under
new manager Clayton McCullough.
Boyd had the same role in the
Mariners minors the last two years.

Kristopher Negron returns however
now at third base after spending last
season as first base coach. Manny
Acta moves to bench coach to be
along side of Dan Wilson. The Mariners
having outstanding season in the
pitching no moves were made in the
area.

Preview Seahawks at New York Jets

The New York Jets have fired
their head coach, offensive
coordinator and general manager
during this season and not necessarily
in this season.

One thing we know Aaron Rodgers
is the quarterback so any thing
could happen. This game is
probably going to be much like
last week's game against the
Cardinals where points are likely
hard to come by.

Not only is the Seahawks defense
is better the offense is having
struggles and  despite a 3-8
record they have a top ten defense.
So this won't help the Seahawks
very well. I am sure the Seahawks
will try to run the ball however short
passes to get them in position to
run on downs where they can get
second and short. We know that
could be trouble for them. In that
case continue short passes and
an occasion longer pass when
they are second and short. This
should happen when they are near
the middle of the field.

The Seahawks have had trouble
in the red zone so touchdowns
may occur when they are outside
of it. We shouldn't be surprised
if they making several field goals.
In fact this might be the day of
field goals. The success or failure
will come on turnovers and penalties.

The Seahawks are averaging 23.7
points against teams outside the
division however this will likely
not happen however this is why
they play the game. The Jets are
scoring 18.5 points a game
and giving up 22 a game. The
Seahawks are 1.5 favorite to
win the game so the experts
figure a close game to.

After being out most of last season
Aaron Rodgers has started all 11
games for the Jets.  He has thrown
for 2442 yards on the season for
an average of 222 per game. Aaron
has thrown for 17 touchdowns
which is tied for ninth in the league.
He is completing 63.4 per cent of
his psssds thrown. He  has seven
interceptions and has been sacked
26 times.

The Jets go with two running backs
primarily. Breece Hall is the Jets
number one running back however
has been limited in practice. We
will see how much a bad knee will
keep him out of the game or not.
Breece has 632 yards on the season
with 4 touchdowns.  He has 34 catches
on the season two touchdowns. He is
third on the Jets in catches.

The second running back is Braelin
Allen with 62 carries for 229 yards
and two touchdowns. If Hall is
limited we will see more of him.

The Jets two main wide receivers
are Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard.
They both have five touchdown
catches. Wilson has 69 catches
for 722 yards while Lazard has 30
catches for 412 yards. Tyler Conklin
is the Jets primary tight end in
catches with 29 for 252 yards and
two touchdowns.

On defense they are lead in tackles
by linebackers Jamien Sherwood
and Quincy Williams. Sherwood
has 103 tackles while Williams has
80.  Williams has two forced fumbles
and two recovered. Defensive end
leads the Jets with eight sacks.
Cornerback Brandin Echols has
the Jets only two interceptions
on the season. If the Seahawks are
able to protect Geno he should
have a good day.  Go Hawks!

Washington Huskies Beat Colorado State

The Washington Huskies beat Colorado State Thursday afternoon in the
Acrisure Invitational Tournament.
It was different one in which the
WSU lost in the holiday tournament
on Wednesday in the final.

The final was Washington 73 Colorado
State 67. They meet Santa Clara in
the championship game Friday at
1:30 pm. on the Tru Network.

Colorado State led a tight game
leading 28-26 at halftime. The
Huskies became agreesive in
the second half. They went on
a 10-0 run going into the last two
minutes of the game. They didn't
score a field goal in the last two
minutes however went to the foul
line a bit of times. They didn't
make a lot of free throws until
the last 30 seconds when they
able to. They made 13 of 24
from the foul line making it
difficult otherwise.

The Huskies did well making
10 of 22 3s while Colorado
State went 7 of 23. Both teams
25 shots from the field although
Colorado State took five more
shots.

A play that made some output for
the Huskies to win a fragrant foul
when Great Osobor was fouled
with 38.1 seconds remaing. He
made one of two shots and the
Huskies maintain possession
of the ball where they were able
to take more time off the rock.

The Huskies had only two players
scoring in double figures. Tyler
Harris had another outstanding
game being leading scorer with
24 points and had eight rebounds
too. Harris made 5-8 of 3s. Osobor
had 16 points and eight rebounds.
Led the Huskies with seven assists
which was big to.

The Huskies went with a six man
rotation with DJ Davis coming of
the bench for 28 minutes and six
points. Mekhi Mason had the next
amount of minutes with 12 and
scored 8 points. Christian King
made his best contribution on
the season going eight minutes
scoring five points. Maybe we will
see him play more minutes.

The Colorado State Rams had
three players in double figures
the leading scorer was Nique
Clifford with 13 points and nine
rebounds. Another key was the
Huskies held him down below
his scoring average of 19 and
he fouled out just under two
minutes left in the game.

Tomorrow's game against Santa
Clara should be  a good test for
the Huskies. They are 6-0 on the
season.

In other local college men's basketball
Gonzaga was upset by West Virginia
on Wednesday night in overtime 86-78.
The Zags shot only 20% from the field
in overtime. The game on. Thursday
they  beat Indiana 89-73.  They had an
outstanding first half scoring 57 points.

The Zags had all five starters in double
figures led by Khalif Battle with 16 points. Michael Ajayi and Nolan Hickman each had 15. Ben Gregg
came off the bench with 13. Tomorrow
Gonzaga plays against Davidson at
5:30 pm.

Cougars Blown Out Second Half

The Washington State Cougars
were leading 31-27 at halftime
against SMU in the championship
game of the Acrisure Holiday
Invitational Wednesday Wednesday
night.

The middle of the second half
SMU went on a 10-0 run putting
them ahead and they eventually
had a 16 point lead with two
minutes to go.

Final SMU 77 WSU 60

SMU out rebounded the Cougars
51 to 25 leading to 21-6 points
on second chances. The Cougars
again made 10 out of 33 3pt shots
while SMU didn't shoot nearly as
many going 5 of 15. My opinion
the Cougars either make higher
percentage or shoot less 3s.

SMU shot better from the free
throw line making 16 of 19 while
the Cougars made 8 of 15. The
free throw line and 3s are going
to cost the Cougars more games
without improvement.

SMU had five player score in
double figures while the Cougars
had three. The Cougars again
were led by Nate Calmese with
15 points and six assists. LeJuan
Watts and Ethan Price each had
12.  Again the Cougars went mostly
with a six man rotation.

The Cougars next game will be
Monday against Nevada on their
court. Nevada is 6-1 and their only
loss was to Vanderbilt 73-71.
They beat the Washington Huskies
in their court 63-53 on November 9
their second game of the season.
Go Cougs!

Preview Washington at Oregon

The Washington Huskies go to Eugene
to face the number one team in the
country. Not a while lot to say otherwise
really however this is it.

With Coach DeBoer moving to Alabama
and many Washington player either
leaving to the NFL or going into the
transfer portal new head coach Jed
Fisch had to start over especially
on the offense.  The Huskies brought
in graduate student Will Rogers and
freshman Demond Williams Jr.. For
some fans the blame has gone on
Will Rogers for the Huskies record
of 6-5 heading into.this game. To be
honest it wasn't his fault for any of
the losses.

Last week's game Rogers was benched
and Williams was inserted. We could
say that he was the reason they won.
We will know before the game which
one will start on Saturday. Rogers has
the experience and Williams is the
future quarterback. The Ducks will
be favored and if the Huskies win
it will be an upset no matter who
starts.

The Oregon Ducks are ranked number
one in the country with a 11-0 record.
They are averaging 33.91 points a
game while giving up 15.73. They are
ranked 17th in the country in scoring.
Defensive is ranked number nine in
giving up points.

The Ducks average 166.3 yards rushing
a game. They have 22 touchdowns on
the season while giving up 11 touchdowns.
The opposing team average  118.70
per game.

In the passing game the Ducks average
281.36 yards a game and has 22 touchdowns
on the season. On defense they give  up
168.82 yards a game and eight touchdowns
on theseason.

Senior Dillon Gabriel is the Ducks
starting quarterback and has thrown
for 3,066 yards with the 22 touchdowns
and six interceptions. He completes
73.8 percent of his passes. On the
ground he has 155 yards and six
touchdowns.

Junior Jordan James is the Ducks
leading rusher with 1067 yards and
11 yards.  Tez Johnson is Oregon
leading receiver with 64 catches
for 649 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Evan Stewart is second in receptions
With 47 catches for 609 yards and
five touchdowns.

On defense linebacker Bryce Boettcher
leads the Ducks with 69 tackles along
with one sack and one interception.
Tysheem Johnson strong safety is
second with 52 tackles and leads
with three interceptions. Defensive
end Matayo Uiagalelei leads in
sacks with 8.5.

The Oregon Ducks are favored by
18.5 points. This will be quite
the upset if the Huskies win.
The Ducks will play for the Big
Ten championship game  though
the team they play isn't decided
yet. The Ducks will want to win
badly for the previous three games
that were losses.

The game starts Saturday at 4:30
pm. It will be on NBC too.
Go Dawgs!

Washing State Cougars Beat Fresno State

The gsme was late starting at
9 pm Tuesday night in Thousand
Palms California between the
Cougars and Fresno State in
the first annual Acrisure Holiday
Invitational.

The game was close in the
first half going back and forth.
The Cougars had a halftime lead
39-36. They built an 18 point lead
going on a good run. Fresno State
worked on getting back in the
second half but just enough.
The final 84-73 Cougars.

The Cougars play in championship
game Wednesday at 6:30 pm

The Huskies play in the Acrisure
Invitational on Thursday against
Colorado State. That is a different
tournament.

The Cougars played an eight man
rotation though the starters were only
ones to play over twenty minutes.
Isaiah Watts who had come off the
bench started this one. He had only
eight points. With another game Wednesday we could see him come
off the bench in this one.

Nate Calmese who is having an
outstanding season so far had
22 points along with eight rebounds
and six assists. The Cougars didn't
shoot well from behind the three
point line making only six  of twenty
two.

Ethan Price was second in scoring
with 16 points and six assists. LeJuan
Watts had 14 points while leading with
nine rebounds. Dane Erikstrup came
away with 13 points and six rebounds.
The Cougars made only 10 of 18
from.the free throw line. They had edge in rebounding 42 to 33. Hopefully we
see better tonight. Also a bigger
crowd as the late game the crowd
was small. Go Cougs!

Preview Wyoming at Washington State

Wyoming plays the final game of
the year against the Cougars this
coming Saturday. Both teams have
lost two straight. The Cowboys
however have 2-9 record on the season. Both wins have been in West Coast Conference.

The Cowboys though gave Boise
State a scare losing 17-13. The
Cougars are now 8-3 losing close
games and upsets to San Diego
State and Oregon State. Both losses
came right at the end of the games.

Cougars quarterback John Mateer
is having an outstanding season in
his first time starting in college
football after being a backup the
previous season. There is a school
that has offered Mateer an NIL
deal at $1million so the Cougars
will have to do something to keep
him at the school. Though the team
has had a good season and we hope
for a win that they will go to very good
bowl game. Though Coach Deckert
is a good and popular coach they
could loss more players to the transfer
portal this time around. This would hurt
in recruiting as well.

The season leaders for the Cowboys
is much lower as well as their record
than the Cougars. Evan Svoboda the
Cowboy's quarterback has thrown for
1112 yards on 192 throws and less than 50% have been completed. He
has only four touchdowns compared
to 28 by Mateer. He has seven interceptions which is more than
Mateer.

Sam Scott is the Cowboys leading
rusher at running back with 435
yards. He has 92 carries only and
his average per carry is 4.7. Also
hss four TDs. Joh n Mateer leads
the Cougars with 770 yards and
14 TDs on the ground.

Jaylen Sargent is the Cowboys
leading receiver with 21 catches
and two touchdowns. Kyle
Williams leads the Cougars with
56 catches and 12 touchdowns.

The Cougars are 17.5 favorites
at home. I don't see them being
upset for the third time in a
row especially in front of the
home crowd in the final regular
season game. Go Cougs!

Seahawks Beat Cardinal At Home

Sunday afternoon the game between the Seahawks and the Cardinals
was a defensive match. Most likely
the Cardinals would have beaten
most teams on this day however
the Seahawks were a real match.

Seahawks 16 Cardinals 6

This was the Seahawks best defensive
game of the season without question.
It has been a while since we have seen
this kind of play by the defense.

Coach MacDonald defense he brought
to Seattle is now working. It took some
time and changing parts as well. The
main change continues to the trade
bringing over  Earnest Jones IV over
from the Titans. Things changed to
running defense since he came aboard.
It was the middle linebacker spot that
made it happen with the right guy.

In this game neither team were able
to run the ball. The Seahawks ran for
65 yards on 25 carries while the
Cardinals had 14 carries for 49 yards.
One run by running back Emari
Demercado for 14 yards. Trey Benson
had four carries for the Cardinals
for 18 yards. James Connor led with
seven carries however had only eight
yards. He was second in catches with
five  for 41 yards.

Neither team scored a point until 9:43
left in the second quarter when the
Cardinals kicked the first of two field
goals they made in the game. Jaxon
Smitg-Njigba scored a three yard TD
from Geno Smith with 1:14 left in
the first half to put the Seahawks
ahead. Jaxon led the Seahawks
with six catches. Seahawks led
7-3 at halftime.

Both defenses continued to go
and safety Coby Bryant  intercepted
a pass he returned for a touchdown
with 7:12 remaining in the third
quarter the only score of that period.
The extra point was missed so the
Seahawks were up 13-3 heading
into the fourth quarter.

Geno Smith rushed a pass early in
the fourth quarter that was intercepted.
This put the Cardinals in good position
to tie the game however Seahawks
defense raised to the occasion inside
the ten yard line and the Cardinals had
to settle for a field goal making it
13-7.  This meant they had a chance
to tie or go ahead on a touchdown.
This wasn't meant to be.

The Seahawks kicked a field goal to
put the Seahawks up by ten with
1:56 left in the game. This made it
hard for the Cardinals to comeback
to win. A critical penalty by tight
end Trey McBride meant the Cardinals
had to go for a field goal with 15 seconds remaining to put them
within seven points and have to do
an onside kick.  The snap wasn't
good though the holder was able
to put the ball down however the
kicker missed it go the left giving
the Seahawks the win.

The Seahawks and the Cardinals
are tied with 6-5 however puts the
Seahawks in first for the time being.

The Rams are playing the Eagles
at home on Sunday night football.
They win they are 6-5 too. The Cardinals beat the Rams in their
first game and Rams beat the
Seahawks so would be a three
way tie.

Next Sunday the Seahawks play
the Jets on their field. The Jets
are not having a good season
firing several coaches including
the head coach recently and the
general manager. The Seahawks
should have seven wins after
next week. Go Hawks!

Cougars Upset Again and More

For gge second week in a row
the WSU  Cougars who were having
a very good season was upset
by the Oregon State Beavers on
their home field. Not east to play
against a rival on their field especially
when they are not having a good season.

Much like Huskies been much of
the season the Cougars stats were
better than the Beavers. Of course
the main stat still comes down to
the score.

The Beavers stopped the Cougars the
first time they had the ball then came
down for a TD. Backup quarterback
came in and ran for 15 yards with
7:05 remain in the first quarter. The
Cougars scored on next possession
taking almost three minutes when
wide receiver Carlos Hernandez caught
a 28 yard touchdown from qb John
Mateer.

The second quarter early on the
Cougars kicked a field to take one
of times to be ahead in the game.
Beavers scored two touchdowns
with short runs. John Mateer
ran for two yards and a touchdown
between the two by the Beavers.

The Beavers led by four heading
into the third quarter. The Beavers kicked a field at 11:29 in the period.
The Cougars tied the score almost
two minutes later on a Kyle  Williams
54 yard pass and run.  At the 1:41
remaining Beavers Jermaine Terry II
43 yard pass by qb Ben Gulbranson.

The Cougars tied the score 31-31
at 12:04 in the 4th quarter before
excitement happened. The Cougars
took the lead with an interception
for 29 yards. That happened almost
a minute later. The Beavers tied
the score 2:45 remaining. Still anyone's  game.

The Beavers kicked a field goal
with 20 seconds left in the game. A tough loss for sure.

The Cougars now with a 8-3 record
play host next Saturday to Wyoming
to end the regular season.

On Friday the Washington Huskies
men's basketball team beat Alcorn
State 77-60. Coach Sprinkle changed
up the starting lineup. They started
three different guards.  Tyler Harris
scored 27 points while freshman
Zoom Diallo had 12. They were the
only two in double figures. Both
had played significant minutes
in the previous game thought
didn't start. The third different starter
was Luis Kortright.

The Huskies next game will be
on November 28 and starting
time is 3:30 pm. It is the last
game of the month. Wouldn't
be surprised the same lineup
starts. Go Dawgs!

Gonzaga and WSU Both Win

Gonzaga blew out Long Beach
Wednesday night 84-41 at home.
The Zags were up by 16 in first
half however got worse for the
LB when they only scored 17
points to Gonzaga's 44 in the
second half.

The Zags played nine players until
the last half of second period. The
Zags had four starters in double
figures plus Braden Huff had 12 pts
off the bench. The rebounding was
spread out too. Ben Gregg off the
bench led with seven rebounds.

The Zags shot 46 percent in field
goals though only made 9 of 27
behind the 3pt line. LB did much
worse in both as you can imagine.
Zags did better at free throw making
17 compared to five for LB. The Zags
had only four turnovers.

The Zags don't play again until next
Wednesday at home against West Virginia. They only play six games
in December.

The  Cougars who played Thursday got off to a good start  then beat Easter Washington 96-51.Without the fast start it might have been a close game.  They had a lead up to 24 points.

The Cougars had four players in
double figures. Dane Erikstrup led
with 24 points which included six
three point shots. Cedric Coward
and Isaiah Watts each had 22.
Nate Calmese had 19 points.

The Cougars next game will be
on Tuesday at home against
Fresno State. They are 2-2 right
now and play Long Beach on
Saturday afternoon. Go Cougs!

Preview Arizona At Seattle Seahawks

The Arizona Cardinals come to
Seattle with a narrow lead with
a record of 6-4. The Cardinals
have won four straight  games
and gge Seahawks beat the 49ers
last Sunday. The game is considered
even though the bets have Cardinals
winning by one.

Winning four in a row the odds can
be in the favor of the Seahawks
winning especially at home. The
Seahawks haven't done well at
home this season so a turn around
be nice and they play the Cardinals
on their field in two weeks so
another reason wanting to win
and giving them a better chance
to make the playoffs.

The Seahawks winning would put
them in a tie with a record of 6-5.
The Cardinals win put them up
by two games and the Seahawks
needing many of their remaining
games of the season to get in
the playoffs.  The Seahawks have
seven remaining games including
the two against the Cardinals.
They need to go 4-3 at least though
5-2 would be better to get in.

This weekend the Seahawks need
to continue what they did against
the 49ers last week. The positive
is they don't have to play the 49ers
again or at least until the playoffs.

The Cardinals having won the last
three games averaging 29 points
and the defense has done well
giving up 15 points or less in the
last four wins except the narrow
win over Miami 28-27 on October
27.

The Seahawks defense has improved
in recent weeks after acquiring Earnest
Jones IV where he has put the team
in a good spot of stopping the run.We
expect the defense against the run
to get better.

The Seahawks offense especially the
run has been their problem and lies
with the line for the most part. Geno
Smith did a great job pulling out the
win late in the game. He needs to continue  the same thing concerning
throwing or running with the ball.
He needs the timing more right to
pass or run with the ball. The Seahawks offense will do much
better if so.

Kyle Murray hss done well at qb
in the last four games. Against
the Jets in the last game Murray
completed 22 of 24 passes for
266 yards and a touchdown. Very
impressive in completion rate.
He ran for two touchdowns as
well.

Washington Huskies great Bubba
Baker is the strength of the Cardinals
defense. He leads the Cardinals in
tackles and got to be sure Baker
doesn't get to Geno on a sack.

The Seahawks play like against the
49ers they should win and we hope
so. Go Hawks!

Preview Washington State at Oregon State

The WSU Cougars will want to rebound
after bring upset on the road last week
at New Mexico in a last second TD by
the Lobos. Now the Cougars will be
on the road again. Though last week's
game was an important game loss
this one will be import too. The Cougars are 12.5 favorites. It won't
be easy since they will hear a hostile
crowd though I am sure there will be
some Cougar fans in the stands too
since it is not a long distance to drive.

This is a big one to since their big
brothers Washington and Oregon so
to speak went to the Big Ten. Now
these two teams are holding the bag
to see where the Pac-12 will be in the
future.

The Cougars are 8-2 while the Beavers
are 4-6. A difference  of the  two
teams is Cougars head coach Jake Dickert stayed while Jonathan Smith
went to Michigan Smith. Trent Bray
defense coordinator for the Beavers took over as head coach. Though the
over.  The Cougars lost some players
the Beavers lost a lot more.  Next season could be a turning for the Cougars and the Pac-12 since they
could lose more players because of
NIL that might be available higher
for top players primarily quarterback
John Mateer. The Cougars though
could have another possible upper coming qb too.

Next year will be interesting since
the two teams will play each other
twice in the season. It will be important for one of the teams have a good season next year before the Pac-12
expanding in 2026. They do need
to add another to the conference.
The success of the Cougars will
help to add this team. It helps to
that Boise State is having a great
year and they are one of the teams
coming to the Pac-12.

Anthony Hankerson  the Beavers
primary runner has 198 carries for
889 yards and 14 touchdowns. The
most on the Cougars.

The tough part of the Beavers has
been at quarterback. Gevani McCoy
has played the most however with
not a lot of success. Also he got
benched against California and
in last game against Air Force left
the game early on. McCoy has only
thrown three touchdowns with six interceptions. Ben Gulbranson has
seen some action as number two
however has missed time as well.

Number three quarterback Gabarri
Johnson has played in five games
however the 28-0 loss to Air Force
was his most playing time.  Last week
he completed 9 of 19 passes for
106 yards  and an interception.
He was sacked four times.

Not Gulbranson will be the qb. So
it is down to McCoy and Johnson.
Hard to know who will start and
the success will it matter. Against
the Cougars they should run the
ball to keep the Cougars off the field.
Hopefully they will the coin toss.
Since none of the qbs have had
success passing it will be best
not to be behind early.

The Cougars have given up almost as
much yardage both in running and
passing on the season as they have done themselves. The thing is they
have scored many more touchdowns
than the opposing team has anyway.
The Cougars have 24 rushing touchdowns to the opposing 18
while passing  its 27 for and 17 against.

The Beavers win the game we
will see a lot of Hankerson on
the ground.

Trent Walker is the Beavers top
receiver with 65 catches for 713
yards and has only two touchdowns.
It is half the Beavers touchdowns
through the air. Hankerson could see
catches out of the backfield as he
is number two in catches at 23
for 110 yard which is six on the
team. Jermaine Terry II tight end
is number five in catches however
number two to Walker in yardage.
Jeremiah Noga is number three
in catches and yardage at wide
receiver however has no touchdowns.

Expact the Cougars to win however
can always have another upset.
Go Cougs!

Mariners Reacquire Player

The Seattle Mariners made a deal
Tuesday bringing back former
minor league player Austin Shenton
from the Tampa Bay Rays who they
had traded to them  in 2021 for
reliever Diego Castillo. The Mariners
also designated for assignment JT Chargois who they had required
during the season to use in the bullpen
from the Miami Marlins.

Shenton played 19 games for the Rays
last season hitting only .214 while at
Triple A where he hit .276. Chargois is
up for arbitration. Shenton was a fifth
round pick by Mariners in 2019. He
has played a lot of third base. Right now he is the mix with Josh Rojas
and Dylan Moore to play third base
unless the Mariners acquire a full-time
player which I hope they do.

The Mariners currently have 22 pitchers in their 40-man roster.
They will likely reduce that especially
if they look to make a trade and if they
need to say any one to the Rule Five
Draft which likely they won't do.

The Mariner will go with five starters
along with eight relievers. They may have to make some additional trades
to improve the bullpen and we know
they need to do something at second
and third base at least. Luke Raley
looks to be the starting first baseman
against righties and they may need someone against lefties. Right now
the main guy there is Tyler Locklear
unless they resign Justin Turner as a
free agent. We will get back as the
offseason continues.

The Mariners currently have 15 pitchers on the 40-man roster
to pick from to make the 13 relievers
and this doesn't count Matt Brash
who may start the season on the
injured list.

Andres Munoz is the closer and
Gregory Santos who we hope is
healthy will pitch the eighth inning
and close when Santos needs rest.
The Mariners have Troy Taylor who
came up in September who can
pitch the seventh or eighth inning.
They have Collin Snider who had
an outstanding season last year
and filled the spot with Taylor as
well. These could be the four primary
relievers until Brash returns.

The Mariners still have Tayler Saucedo
and Gabe Speier. Saucedo did have
trouble getting out some righties out
though did outstanding against lefties.
The Mariners hope they have these
two lefties though they could go with
one. They did acquire a third lefty
Austin Kitchen so we see where he
fits in.

This means the Mariners may have
five or six pitchers already slated
for the team so leave two spots or
three spots. Right now they have
Trent Thornton and Austin Voth
on the roster who each had good
seasons for the most part. Not
sure at this time what Thornton's
spot looks right now though I
wouldn't claim if he returns.

The question is what Emerson
Hancock spot is right now. Do
the Mariners trade him or if they
trade one of the five starters
he is penciled in. If everything
stays the same I would like to
see him go into the bullpen as
a long reliever and a spot starter.

That's it for now see what happens
next. Go M's!

Cougars and Zags Both Win

The Washington State Cougars found
themselves in a tight one  until 12:13
left  in the game. After that it was all
Cougars.

The Cougars had four players score
in double figures, however Cedric
Coward had the hot hand scoring
30 on a 12 for 18 from the field.
LeJuan Watts and Ethan Price
controlled the boards each with
eight rebounds to lead WSU.

The Cougars next game is Thursday
against head coach former team
Eastern Washington. This should be
an interesting game.

Gonzaga went on the road  to San Diego State winning 80-67. The
Zags were consistent scoring
40 points in each half. Neither team
shot well from the field. The Zags
shot 42.1 percent while San Diego
State shot 37.7 percent.

The difference in the game was from
the line where the Zags went 27 of 31
while SDS made 13 of 18. The Zags
had three players in double figures.
They were led by Graham Ike with 23
points and nine rebounds. Ryan
Nembhard had 19 points along with
ten assists. The Zags went with
eight man rotation. Braden Huff
had ten points off the bench.

Gonzaga's next game will be
Wednesday back at home
against Long Beach State.
They are 1-3 on the season.
Most recently they lost to Portland Pilots 63-61 at home.

Huskies Men's Basketball Narrow Win

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team beat UMass
Lowell Sunday night 74-69.

The Huskies admit that they
still have a ways to go to be
where they want to be. With
a group who are getting to
know each other it can take
time although several did
come over with coach Sprinkle.

The Huskies had five players
who scored in double figures.
Three of those didn't start the
game. It will be interesting to
see whether the starters will
stay the same or not.

Great Osobor led the Huskies
with 23 points and 18 rebounds.
After the game Osobor feels he
isn't playing where he should be
yet. His coach said the same.
So we could say he isn't Great yet.
Of course this is what many of
these non-league games are for.
They are still important if you
want to make the NCAA tournament
in March.

Three of the  four players who
scored in double figures besides
Osobor each had 12 points. Tyler
Harris who had seven rebounds to
along freshman Zoom Diallo and
starter Tyree Ihenacho. Luis Kortright
had ten points and six rebounds off
the bench.

The Huskies next game will be Friday
Night at home against Alcorn State.
They will have plenty of practice to
get better too.

Gonzaga men will be playing Monday
night at  San Diego State. The game
will be on CBS sports TV. The Cougars
play at home against Northern Colorado which will be on ESPNt.
The Cougars stat at 6:30 pm while
Gonzaga starts 30 minutes later.
We wish them both the best.

Seahawks Upset

The Seahawks upset the 49ers Sunday
afternoon on the road 20-17.

Geno Smith ran for a 13 yard touchdown with 12 seconds
remaining in the game. The
Seahawks needed the TD since
a field goal would not be enough
to tie.

What I liked about the run was
Geno didn't hesitate when he
saw no receivers opened and
ran the opposite direction from
the 49er direction they were
going.

I hope learns from this game and
the experience he learned at the
end. If Geno has a downfall he
takes too long to throw the ball
which causes him to be sacked
or give up interceptions. What
Geno need to do is throw the ball
away or do what he did this time
by running the ball even if he can't
get a first down. This depends on
what down it is two. In one instance
the Seahawks were able to get a
field goal after being sacked
however not always.

Geno completed 25 of 32 passes
for 221 yards and an interception.
This was a good sign since he has throw over 50 times and Seahawks
often lose. The Seahawks had 94
yards in the day including Geno's
winning run. Ken Walker III led
with 14 carries for 54 yards and
a touchdown.  Geno and Zach
Charbonnet each had four runs
though Zach had only three yards.

The offensive line is showing they
still have trouble when running the
ball however does good when
passing. This means the Seahawks
needs to throw short passes when
the running game isn't affective.
This is  the same way to get yards.
Both Walker and Charbonnet can
catch the ball.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba led the Seahawks
with ten catches for 110 yards. DK
Metcalf was back he had seven for
70 yards.

The 49ers had a touchdown in
the first quarter however shutout
in the second quarter.  They had
a field goal in the third and a TD
in the fourth. This shows how well
the Seahawks.  The Seahawks
along with the 49ers and Rams
are 5-5 while Arizona Cardinals
are in first place 6-4. The Seahawks
are at home next Sunday afternoon
to play the Cardinals. It will be
important that the Seahawks when
this gsme to stay in the hunt for
the playoffs. Go Hawks!

Cougars Are Upset

The New Mexico Lobos had  a
great second half beating the
Washington State Cougars
38-35.

It was a difference of two halves.
The Cougars had the Lobos in
the first half scoring four  to
two.  The Lobos tied the game
in the third quarter scoring two
touchdowns while the Cougars
had zero points. This meant the
Lobos made an adjustment at
the half.

Neither team were able to score
of the fourth quarter which allowed
excitement for the end. The Lobos
went ahead for the second time
with 4:40 left in the game with a
field goal. The Cougars in about
a minute and a half score a TD
to take a four point lead with 3:12
remaining.

This didn't stop the Lobos by
scoring a touchdown with 21
seconds remaining. The Cougars
had their timeouts however it
would take a  miracle to tie with
a field goal. The Cougars had one
pass near the sideline that was
ruled a catch however it was
overturned to an  incomplete pass
with seven seconds remaining in
the game.  Qb Mateer was able to
complete a pass with three seconds
to go. It was too far for a tying field
goal so they had to go for a hail
Mary that went incomplete.

This was the first upset by the Lobos
for over twenty years to a ranked team.
Lobos quarterback Devon Dampier
was the player of the game.  He
completed only 11 of 25 passes for
174 yards and one touchdown. It
was his legs that gave the Lobos
the win along with improved defense
in the second half. Dampier had 28
carries for 193 yards and three TD's.
Dampier looked more like a wide
receiver with his speed. Not often
does a qb run for more yards than
throwing it.

The Lobos are not even bowl eligible
yet wit a 5-6 record. Next Saturday
night they play the final game of
the season at Hawaii where they have
to win to make a bowl game.

The Cougars are now 8-2 with two
games remaining. They play late
afternoon game at Oregon State.
Go Cougs!

Washington Huskies Win Friday Night

The Huskies beat UCLA 31-19
Friday night st Husky Stadium.

It was the final game of the
season at home and they were
undefeated at home. Now at
a streak of 20 straight at home.

The Huskies changed quarterback
in the second half as Will Rogers
threw two interceptions.  They went
to freshman Demond Williams Jr.

The Huskies were leading 14-13
in the third quarter when Williams
stepped in. Both teams exchanged
field goals in the third quarter. The
Huskies field goal took place after
Williams was inserted.

The Huskies had two touchdowns
in the fourth quarter. It did take a
while was Williams threw to freshman
tight end Decker for one yard at
5:44 remaining in the game.  Jonah
Coleman had the second on a two yard
run at 1:54 left in the game.

The UCLA Bruins had their final
score on two yard run with nine
seconds remaing. They missed
the two.point conversion though
it was meaningless.

Williams was seven of eight throwing
the football with the one touchdown.
Rogers had been 13 of 21 for 115 and a touchdown to go with the two
interceptions.

Jonah Coleman had a good night
rushing for 95 yards on 21 carries
and two touchdowns.  Desmond
Williams had six carries to 31 yards.

Giles Jackson in his final game
in Husky Stadium had eight catches
for 43 yards.

Next Saturday the Huskies play
at Oregon. The time of the game
hasn't been said yet.

The Huskies love to beat the
Ducks once again especially
now they are number one in
the country.

The Huskies are now bowl
eligible and how they do
next week will determine
which bowl they will play in.
Go Dawgs!

The Huskies men's basketball
team play at home on Sunday
evening against UMass Lowell.
They will be favored.

The Washington State Cougars
men's basketball team played
Friday night at Iowa 76-66. The
game was close most of the
way. The Hawkeye's had success
at the foul line especially near
the end of the game.

Nate Calmese had another good game for the Cougars with 27 points.
LeJuan Watts led in rebounds for
WSU with ten while scoring 11 points.
Calmese and Watts were the only
ones in double figures.

The Cougars next game will be
home Monday evening against
Northern Colorado.  Go Cougs!

Preview: Seahawks At 49ers

After the bye week news came out
that the Seahawks released linebacker
Tyrel Dodson who they signed as a
free agents. Now both free agent
linebackers are gone. I know that
there are some fans who say they
should have resigned Bobby Wagner.
This is a very good point since the
Commanders are doing  better than
the Seahawks.

I just saw a headline saying Dodson
was the Seahawks leading tackler.
This could be negative depending
where most of the tackles happened.
We know that the Seahawks have
not been good against the run.

The signed cornerback Josh Jobs
off the practice squad. This could
mean at times the Seahawks will
have middle linebacker Ernest Jones
IV as the only linebacker in the game.

The Seahawks have had trouble
stopping the run though better
since Jones came on the scene.
The 49ers have Christian McCaffrey
back so this could mean harder to
stop the run. With the bye week
and the release of Dodson the
Seahawks maybe changing the
scheme somewhat. We will find
out won't we.

The 49ers should be favored and
we hope the Seahawks will make
an upset. We do know the 49ers
are not having a great season so
far either.

The NFC west division we know
the Seahawks can still take it
in the second half. We will see if
any other changes happen especially
they lose to the 49ers.

Washington Huskies Come From Behind

The Huskies beat city rival Seattle
Pacific 77-62. The Huskies though
had to overcome a 13 point deficit
In the first half.

They took a lead 41-40 in the second half and never trailed again. It is not
easy to have a good game against
a rival even one that you have never
lost too.

Forward Great Osobor and guard
DJ Davis expected to be the top
scorers for the most part on the
season each had 18 points. Osobor
led in rebounds with eight. Tyler
Harris came off the bench with 13.
Touted freshman Zoom Diallo had
eight points while starter Mekihi
Mason had night.

The Huskies took a lot more
free throws than the Falcons
however still struggling from
the line. Huskies made 17 of
32 free throws while the Falcons
went 9 out of 14. The Huskies
will need to improve if they expect
to win close games at the line.

The Huskies next game will be
on Sunday night at home against
UMass Lowell.  They are 2-0
and play at Gonzaga Friday night.
Go Dawgs!

Preview: Washington State at New Mexico

The Cougars are 12.5 favorites
as they are on the road to play
New Mexico Lobos who are 4-6.
It isn't easy to be favorites on
the road no matter how good
you are.

The Cougars are 8-1 with the
only blemish losing to Boise
State. Early on in the Cougars
did have close calls. The
team is looking to see if they
can make it to the National
Championship series which
is amazing since the conference
they were playing in no longer
is in the form it had been with
ten teams leaving and the are
playing a non conference schedule.

The Lobos beat San Diego State in
their last outing 21-16. Quarterback
Quarterback Devon Dampier had 16
catches caught out of 24 throws for
175 yards, one touchdown and no
interceptions. Like Cougar  Mateer
he is a dual quarterback running for
127 yards on 17 carries. Both teams
will have to look at qb in more than
one function.

Eli Sanders had 16 carries for the
Lobos and had 173 yards with
two touchdowns. Ryan Davis
caught five balls for 47 yards and
one touchdown. This could be
a high scoring affair. The Cougars
can't take the Lobos foregranted
and this will be a  big letdown
if they lose. The Cougars have
two games remaining  after
this one and be in double digits
in wins. They can be one of the
big teams in college football
in 2024. Go Cougs!

Preview: UCLA at Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies are favorites
by 3.5 points though at home and have a long home winning streak. Also UCLA won their last out between both teams in 2022  40-32.

UCLA has a 4-5 record while Huskies
are 5-5. The game is Friday night at
6pm on ESPN+. I don't like game on
that channel since have to pay extra.
I suppose could get the channel and cancel shortly after. The Bruins have
an overall of 42-32-2 over the Huskies.
They have played each other  since
1932.

UCLA beat Iowa last week 20-17. Ethan
Garbers is UCLA'S quarterback was
redshirted a year at Washington before
transferring to the Bruins. Garbers has a completion rate 64.8 percent this year.
He has thrown 22 touchdowns while
having 11 interceptions. The key is for
the Huskies to get at least one interception that can make a difference
in the game.

The Bruins ran last week 211 yards
against Iowa. This was the Huskies
trouble last week against Penn State
so be important the Huskies defense
turns things around.  TJ Harden that
the most carries having 20 for 125.
Iowa's Kaleb Johnson had only 49
against the Bruins so it will be
important that Jonah Coleman
rebounds from what he  did against
Penn State.

Will Rogers is expected to be the
starting qb against the Bruins. A
lot of Huskies fans want to go
with freshman Demond Williams
Jr.. If the Huskies get off to slow
start we may see Williams soon.
The freshman is the future so
unless Rogers does a good job
giving Williams the helm makes
sense.

The defense will have to do
better than they did last week.
They often make adjustments
at halftime however against
Penn State was too late.

Winning this for the Huskies is a
must if they want to make a bowl
game. Go Dawgs!

Cougars Beat Idaho

The WSU  Cougars  men's basketball  team beat
the Idaho Vandals  Monday Night  90-67.

Coach Riley thought  the Cougars got off a slow
slow start. Second half the Cougars went on
a run where LeJuan Watts scored the teams ten
points straight. LeJuan scored 16 for the game
and had career high 14 rebounds.

Former Washington  Huskies  Nate Caimese
led the Cougars with 18 points. He has scored
in double  figures  all three wins.

The Cougars combinated the boards with
46-30 in rebounds.

The Cougars play at Iowa next on Friday.
The Hawkeyes  are 2-0  however play
South Dakota on Tuesday. This will be
match playing a Big Ten  apponent.

The Cougars play this season in the WCC
so they will face Gonzaga twice. It will
be interesting how they do after a good
season  last year in the Pac-12.  Go Cougs!

Gonzaga Wins Again

Yes the Gonzaga Bulldogs beat
Arizona State 88-80 Sunday
afternoon. ASU were down by four
at 42.6 secs remaining  in the game.
A turnover gave the Bulldogs the
win pretty much.

The Sun Devils had the lead several
times in the second half however
could hold down the home team.
Had this been a home game by
the Sun Devils it might have been
a Zags loss.  Important thing is
getting it done when time is come
to a close.

The Zags had three players score in
double figures. Braden Huff came
off the bench to score 21 points.
Also Michael Ajayi came off the
bench leading them with 12 rebounds
and nine points. This is why it is
important to have a couple bench
players that can regularly get the
job done.

Arizona State had three players
scoring in double figures too.
Basheer Jihad led them with 22
points as well as 1O rebounds.
The Sun Devils shot 47.6 percent
from the field while the Zags shot
fifty percent. Both shot poorly
behind the three point line. Both
teams shot well from the free
throw line however Gonzaga
made six more of them.

Gonzaga's next game will be
on Friday night at home against
UMass Lowell. They are 2-0
however Gonzaga best game they play so far. Go Zags!

Cougars Win Again

The Washington State Cougars
won their eight game of the
season beating Utah State 49-28.

The Cougars did something they
don't normally do in rushing the
bslk so much for 303 yards.
Quarterback John Mateer threw
four touchdowns for the Cougars
with three going to wide receiver
Kyle Williams. Mateer ran for a
touchdown as well.

Running back Wayshawn Parker
had a big night for the Cougars
going for 149 yards. Half the yards
were on one play when he ran for
75 yards and a touchdown at the
beginning of the second half. That
was his second of the game.

The Cougars are 8-1 now and play
next at New Mexico.

In hockey the Seattle Kraken on
Friday night ended a four game
losing streak on the road by
beating Vegas Nights 4-3 at home.
The Kraken made a trade with
the Vancouver Canucks reacquiring
Daniel Sprong for future considerations. He is on a one
year deal he signed with the Canucks
after playing last year with Detroit
Red Wings.

The Kraken are 6-8-1 and in six place
in the Pacific division. They were in
third place before going on that
five game road trip. The Kraken's
next game is Tuesday night at
home against Columbus Blue
Jackets. Go Kraken!

Huskies Roll Over

Penn State who were favored
by 13.5 won going away 35-6
over the Washington Huskies.

The Nittany Lions led the
game 28-0 at halftime. The
second half were played by
reserves.

The takeaways were easy
by what you can see by the
score. The offense couldn't
do much at after the first
possession of the game where
they missed a field goal. The
defense were unable to stop
Penn State. The Huskies
continue not to win on the road.

Will Rogers didn't come back
to play the second half.  Rogers
threw thirteen passes while
completing ten for 59 yards
and an interception. Freshman
Desmond Williams Jr. threw
ten balls with six caught. He
led the Huskies in rushing
as well going 38 yards on
ten carries. Starting running
back Jonah Coleman carried
rlevdn times for 24 yards.

The Huskies had eight different
receivers to make a catch. Giles
Jackson had five catches while
Denzel Boston led in yardage
at 35 on two catches.

The Huskies had two field goals
with one in the third quarter and
the other in the fourth. This was
a game where the Huskies didn't
win in yardage while losing as
they had before. Nittany Lions
had 486 yards total while Huskies
had 193.

The Huskies play at home next Friday night against UCLA. They have a bye
before ending the regular season
at Oregon on November 30. Making
a bowl game they really need to beat
the Bruins.

The Huskies in men's basketball
team lost at Nevada Saturday
night 63-53. They were in the
game until late in the game.

The Huskies had only two players
to score in double figures. Tyree
Ihenacho led with 15 points while
Tyler Harris had ten. Great Osobor
led the Huskies in rebounds with
nine however had only three points
compared to 16 in the season
opener.

The Huskies will play Seattle
Pacific at home on Wednesday.
Go Dawgs!

Cougars Beat Bradley Braves Friday

The Washington State Cougars
had another nice win Friday
night at home over Bradley
91-74.

This is over a team that has a
good history men's basketball
in the Missouri Valley Conference.

The Cougars only shot 10-31
behind the arc however went to
the foul line 33 times and making
27.  They were only up by three
at halftime however went on a
14-1 to begin the second half.

The Cougars primarily play six
players and all of them again
scored in double figures. They
were led by Cedric Coward and
Natd Calmese with 18 points.
LeJuan Watts led in rebounds
with eleven to go with his 12
points.

The Cougars next game will be
Monday night at home against
Idaho. The Vandals are 1-1
and lost to UC Davis Thursday
79-76. A team that gave Washington
Huskies fits and almost came out
with a win in Seattle last Tuesday.
So Idaho should give the Cougars
another good test at home. Go Cougs!

Mariners General Manager Speaks At Meeting

This week the general  managers  are
meeting in Texas. Seattle  Mariners
general  manager  Justin Hollander
said the outfield  is  fairly  solid.
Julio Rodriguez  in  center field
of course. Rady Arozarena who
they acquired at the trading deadline
in left and Victor Robles in right.
Robles did a fine job when Julio
was injured so he will play there
when needed. Hollander mentioned
Luke Raley  as the fourth outfielder
when not playing first base.

The question  is  to improve  the
infield. Primarily  that is second
and third base. Right now the
Mariners  are solid defensively
in the infield  however the need
to improve  offensively.

First base Raley playing against
righties and have someone to
play against lefties  and when
he is in the outfield  too. On the
roster right now is Tyler Locklear.
The Mariners  may sign Justin
Turner if another team doesn't
snatch him up though he enjoyed
his time while coming over at the
deadline.  Dylan Moore could play
some first however his value is
playing multiple  positions.  Another
choice could  be Mitch Haniger if
he is on the team. Most likely  he will
be playing  some dh. We have the
question  about Mitch Garver  as well.
Will the Mariners  dump either Haniger
or Garver. Most likely  not both. In
Haniger they know they have and
hopefully  be better after a poor season
in 2024. Garver right now would be the
backup catcher  and play dh at times.
This would depend  on how he hits.
The Mariners  may explore picking up
another catcher but that isn't  a priority.

Next time we will look at the bullpen.
The Mariners  need to look at bolstering
it though we hope George  Santos  will
be healthy  at the beginning of spring
trying and Matt Brash will return at some
point though June could be it. All depends
on his recovery  continues this winter
and into Spring Training.  Go M's.

Preview: Washington Huskies at Penn State

The Washington Huskies play this
Saturday late afternoon 5 pm Pacific
time at Penn State.

The Huskies face the number six
team in the country. Last week the Huskies beat USC Trojans at home
26-21 while Penn State lost to Ohio
State number two 20-13. The  Nittany
Lions are favored by 13.5 points.
The Huskies are 0-3  on the road.
They are tied for eighth place in the
Big Ten.

The Huskies and the Nittany Lions
have played only four times and
three were in bowl games. Penn
State won last time in the 2017
Fiesta Bowl 35-28.

Penn State average 187.5 yards
a game on the ground. I am sure
they will open up against the UW
in that manner. They are 24th ranked
throwing the ball however the Huskies
are one of the top teams on pass defense.

The Nittany Lions quarterback is
Drew Allar who completes just over
seventy percent of his throws and
has 12 touchdown pass and five
interceptions on the season.

Kaytron Allen is the Nittany Lions
starting running back averaging
sixty-seven yards a game at 4.7
yards per carry. He has four TDs
on the season.

Tyler Warren is Penn State's leading
receiver with 51 catches and four
touchdowns.

Penn State is averaging 30.5 points a game and giving up 15. This game
could come close to their average.

Even in their four losses the Huskies
have better stats against their opponents. It will be important for
the Huskies to do better in the red
zone if they want to have any chance
to win. The defense causing a turnover
or two would help as well. Go Dawgs!

Huskies Win Season Opener

The Huskies did what the other
Big Ten schools have done who
played winning the season open.
The same goes for the Ciugs and
Zags.

The Huskies got off to a good start
early though they let UC Davis stay
in the game. Under Mike Hopkins
the Huskies often started off slow.
The Huskies did let Davis stick
around though. Final Washington 79
UC

The game would have been farther
apart had they shot better from the
foul line. Huskies shot at 55% shots
made. It was right at 50% until late
in the game. Both teams made the
same amount of free throws however
the Huskies took 12 more shots.
Had the Huskies made six more it
would have made more comfortable
ending.

The Huskies played mostly seven
players all going at least twenty
minutes. Forward Great Osobor
in his first game as a Husky led
the team with 15 points and 17
rebounds which is amazing stat.
Most likely he will be the team's
best player.

The Huskies had five players score
in double figures with three starters
and two reserves. Senior DJ Davis
had only two points late in the game.
We should see much better the rest
of the season. The Huskies rotation
should be seven though two others
will see OK minutes around fifteen.
This would depend on the opponent
and foul trouble.

Louis Kortright played fifteen minutes
as the eighth player and Tyler Harris
played well late in the game going
12 minutes and having nine points.
Both could play additional minutes
going  forward. Kortright had been
hurt during camp so he performs
well as does Harris more minutes.

The Huskies will need play better
against Nevada on Saturday
who beat Sam Houston 91-75
in season opener. Go Dawgs!

Mitch Haniger and More

Mitch Haniger accepted his $17
million player option on Monday.
Matt Brash, fellow pitchers Jackson
Kowar and Blas Castono along
with Sam Haggerty were activated
to the 40- man roster who filled it
right now. Brash likely won't be ready
until next  June likely. Kowar out
most of last year to and Castano
pitched in both double A and triple
A for the Mariners. Haggerty was
hurt while playing for Tacoma. He
is eligible for arbitration so the
Mariners could leave him or put
him on waivers like they did for
Luis Urias.

The Mariners will have to reduce
the roster if they make a trade that
involves acquiring more than one
player or they sign a free agent or
pick up off waivers. Also if they have to
add someone they don't want to lose
to rule five draft in December.

The Mariners have 23 pitchers and
17 position players on the roster.
Usually they carry 20 pitchers and
20 position players. Most likely
the first to be taken off is a pitcher
unless the player they want to add
is a position and they are willing
to drop one.

Right now you have to figure Haniger
will be on the opening day roster
unless they are willing to cut that
much payroll and still pay him. They
could trade him however the other
team probably won't want to pay the
full amount. On the team Mitch will
be the fourth or fifth outfielder and
dh as well.

Mitch Garver is listed on the roster
as the dh however he is right now
the teams backup catcher as he was
the second have of last season. The
Mariners don't have another catcher
so they would have to sign another
one if they want a third catcher.
Congratulations to Cal Raleigh for
winning the gold glove as a catcher
along with Dylan Moore as utility
player.  This could make him more
valuable if the Mariners wanted to
trade him which is a possibility.

The Mariners have seven infielders
and eight outfielders listed. Luke
Raley is listed as an outfielder though
he played a lot of first base in September
and is considered right
now as someone playing time next
season as well. Sam Haggerty listed
to though he could play any of the
infield spots just like Dylan Moore
is listed as an infielder but can play
the outfield too.

The Mariners didn't accept Jorge
Polanco option so they will have to
acquire one. Currently Ryan Bliss
along with Dylan Moore and Leo Rivas
would play second. The Mariners
acquire a third baseman than Josh
Rojas could play second to.

Rojas does return at third though
the Mariners look to upgrade the
position. Dylan Moore would play
as a platoon player if they don't
upgrade. Right now Raley and
Tyler Locklear could platoon at
first base unless they bring back
Justin Turner who is a free agent
and has shown interest. JP Crawford
is the shortstop with Dylan Moore
and Rivas could see action too.

Ryan Arozarena, Julio Rodriguez
and Victor Robles be the starting
rotation with Haniger and Raley
playing on occasion right now.
Dominic Canzone and Cade Marlowe
be the guys after them.

We will see what the Mariners
do over the weeks ahead. The
pitching any changes will likely
happen in the bullpen unless a
surprise happens. Go M's!

WSU and Gonzaga Both Win

One thing both the Cougars and
the Zags have in common is an
that will score a lot of points.
It will be interesting when they
play each other in the West Coast
Conference.

The Cougars beat Portland State
100-92. The Cougars got off to a
slow start being down by 17 points.
They went on a 25-7 run to take over.
The Cougars had a eight point lead
at half time which was the difference.

The  Cougars had all five starters
score in double figures plus Isaiah
Watts coming off the bench with 20 points. I thought Watts would start
however having a player who can
score off the bench is good. He did
play 27 minutes so it is like another
starter. Rihards Vavers was the only
other guy getting playing time off
the bench going 16 minutes however
only scored one point. Vavers is
coming back from injury so his time will likely increase.  The Cougars look to go with a seven player rotation.

Cedric Coward led the Cougars with
23 points and 12 rebounds. Former
Washington Husky Nate Calmese in
his Cougar debut was third in scoring
with 17 and led with five assists.

On Friday the Cougars play Bradley.
This should be a bigger test and they
will have to get off on better start.

Gonzaga played Baylor in their
season debut. Although they played
in Spokane it wasn't on their home
court. It didn't matter as they played
well and had their faithful student
section at the game

The Zags started on a 8-1 run then
Baylor did a run of their own going
8-0 to take a temporary lead. After
that they blew out Baylor. Expected
a closer game as Baylor was ranked eight while Zags six.  The final was
Gonzaga 101 Baylor 63.

The Zags led Baylor by 19 at halftime
and outscored them again by 19 in
the second half. The Zags are not going to let up it looks like. The big
difference the Gonzaga scored thirty
more points behind the three point
line. They made 41.9 percent behind
line while Baylor shot 14.3 percent.
The Zags had easy shots as well
as they shot 57.1 percent from the
field. They dominated the defensive
boards with 29 compared to 18 by
Baylor.

Gonzaga went with an eight man
rotation most of the way with three
starters in double figures and two
off the bench. Nolan Hickman led
the Zags with 17 points. Braden Huff
who is instant offense when he usually
comes off the bench had 14 points
in 16 minutes.

Gonzaga's next outing will be at home
against Arizona State on Sunday. ASU
play their first game Tuesday night
at home against Idaho State. They
play Santa Clara Friday before facing
the Zags. See how good they are
heading into Sunday.  Go Zags!

The Washington Huskies have their season opener against UC Davis
Tuesday night. We see whether
they will win as well. It would be
nice to see all three teams have a
good season.

Preview Utah State at Washington State

The Cougars are at home against
Utah State Aggies this coming
Saturday. Both teams had a bye.
The Aggies are struggling having
a 2-6 record on the season winning
the opener and beating Wyoming on
the road thevSaturday before last
27-25. Wyoming has struggled with
a 1-7 record.

On offense the Aggies are averaging
158.1 yards on the ground while
300.88 in the air per game. On defense
they are close giving up 244 yards
rushing while 255 passing.

The Cougars who will be a big favorite
in this game average 158 yards on the
ground while 280 yards in the air.
Facing the Aggies we can see the
Cougars mixing up the run and passing
game. Most likely the Cougars will
score early on a long pass to get
things going.

If the Aggies have the  ball first we
could see them running the ball
to keep the clock moving. A good
strategy especially on the road.

Turnovers should make a big diffence
especially if the Aggies have trouble
holding on. The  Cougars defense
will try to force the Aggies to get
in position to turn the ball over.

The Cougars are a 19.5 underdog
to the Cougars. WSU should go to
8-1 record. Go Cougs!

Monday night  the Cougars men's
basketball  team begins their non
league schedule at home against
Portland State followed by Bradley
on Friday.

The Washington  Huskies men's
team begin at home against UC
Davis on Tuesday.  Like the Cougars
they have a new head coach and
a group of new players as well.

 Gonzaga's men's  begin Monday
as well. The number 6 Bulldogs
don't  start lightly  take on number
8 Baylor. It should be a fantastic
game.

Let you know how all three teams
first outings go. Stay tuned all
season long.

Seahawks Lose In Overtime

The Seahawks lost Sunday afternoon
with the offense making too many
mistakes. Final Rams 26 Seahawks 20

Geno Smith threw for over 300 yards
and had three touchdowns including
late in the fourth quarter to send it into
overtime. The Seahawks have gone 1-5  since winning their first three games.
Four losses at home.

The game was ugly with Geno Smith
having three interceptions. At times
he and the offense didn't do well
though they had more yardage then
the Rams. The Seahawks defense was
good for the most part especially
against the run where they have had
some trouble. They couldn't make
up for the trouble the offense had
on the day.

Kyren Williams led the Rams in
rushing with 22 carries for 69 yards.
The Seahawks were ready for the
Rams running game. They did have
trouble stopping the passing game
at times. Cooper Kupp had 11 catches
for 104 yards however he couldn't get
into the end zone. The Rams did have
two touchdowns in the air.  The third
touchdown was 104 yards off a Geno
interception in the 4th quarter.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba had his best game as a Seahawk catching seven for 180
yards and two touchdowns. The first
touchdown was with five seconds left
in the first half and the second was
under a minute remaining in the
game to allow a chance  the Seahawks
could have in winning the game.
He did have a catch that was fumbled
as well. Thst was his only mistake
really in the game. He might had done
even better if penalties hadn't occurred
either.

The Seahawks have a bye next week
is probably a good thing with the
record they have. The Seahawks
next game will be on November 17
on the road against the 49ers. We
hope they can recover since they do
have a chance still to win the
division.

The Arizona Cardinals beat the
Chicago Bears Sunday 29-9 at
home to be 5-4 and first place.
Rams and the 49ers are both 4-4
so tied for second and the Seahawks
4-5. The 49ers had a bye this week
and take on Tampa Bay next Sunday
on the road. The division is on a
bottleneck so anyone can still win.
Go Hawks.

Huskies Beat USC

The game Saturday night the Huskies
dominated the first half leading 20-7.
The Huskies had two touchdowns
and two field goals.

The Trojans had two touchdowns
dominating the Huskies on the ground
and had one of the touchdowns
made on fourth and nine. Not a good stand.

The Huskies scored the only TD in
the 4th quarter and the defense made
adjustment. They were able to stop
USC on goal line stands twice. The
second was on fourth and four with
33 seconds left.

This extends the Huskies winning
streak to 19 games at home.  We hope this goes to the next game too. Next weeks game will be a rough one taking on number three ranked Penn State on
the road though the lost to Ohio
State 20-13. I don't think there are
any easy games to play in the Big
Ten.

We will have a preview this next week.
Go Dawgs!

Washington State Cougars 2025 Football Schedule

The Washington  State  Cougars  who have
this weekend  off before playing  Utah State
next Saturday  have already announced their
schedule  for next season.

The Cougars  are currently  7-1 and look
to go to a pretty  good  bowl  game this
year.

The Cougars will only play two games
against Mount West schools next year.
They will face San Diego State  in game
two and Colorado  State in game five
on September  27. These two teams
will join the new Pac-12  in 2026.

The Cougars will begin on August 30
facing Idaho at home. They have played
each other in non conference games
often. It would be interesting  if they
could add Idaho to the new Pac-12
where they would make enough teams.
They haven't  been mentioned  before.
The Cougars and Vandals are a natural
rivals as they are close to each other.

Speaking of rivals the Cougars will play
Washington  Huskies on September  20
at Pullman in the Apple Cup. Before that
the Cougars travel to North Texas State
in game three.

The game against Colorado State will
be on the  road. They have a bye week
after that. They have two road games
after the bye to begin October against
Ole Miss and Virginia.  Those will be
two tough games. They come home
to play Toledo.

The Cougars  begin November on the
1st playing at Orego State Beavers.
In an oddity the play the Beavers twice.
They have another bye on November 8.
The next week  they are home against
Louisiana State then on the road at
James Madison. They finish the season
at home against Oregon State.

This will be interesting  to  see  how good
of a season  after this one. Go Cougs!

Mariners Make A Couple Moves Friday

On Friday now with the World Series over the Mariners have made a couple
moves that were dxpected. We could see more over the next week.

Jorge Polanco who didn't have the
season as expected after being
acquired shortly before spring
training the Mariners didn't accept
the teams option. He will be a
free agent. Though the Mariners
likely won't resign him they still
could actually. His option was
for $12 million. There is a good
chance he will not receive that
much on a new contract. Jorge
may have to decide on a one year
contract though another team
could go on a two year deal.
Signing a deal there will be
incentives build in I would expect.

The Mariners put Luis Urias on
waivers as he was not tendered
since he do for arbitration. This
puts 36 player on the 40 man
roster.  Sam Haggerty who is on
60 day injured list is eligible for
arbitration too. The Mariners
will likely non tender him too.

The Mariners currently have 20
pitchers on the 40 man roster
with Matt Brash and Jackson
Kowar on the 60 day injured list.
Both will stay on likely until at
least spring training. Kowar
the Mariners could release
depending on how his future
looks in Seattle and whether
the Mariners need a spot.

Right now it looks like three
of the four infield positions
are open although the Mariners
could look to foot all of them.
JP Crawford had a poor season
in 2024 and whether the Mariners
are willing to see if he has a
comeback in 2025. He is good in
the clubhouse it seems.  The
team has shortstops in the minors
however non seems to be ready
yet and Crawford is still under
contract.

The Mariners have Luke Raley
who did an OK job late in the
season at first base. Also Tyler
Locklear who played most of the
season at Tacoma though began in
double A is on the 40 man roster.
Locklear did have 45 at bats for
the Mariners however hit on .156
and had two home runs. Though
not good he could be ready in
2025. Justin Turner who the M's
acquired at the trading deadline
had a good time on the team.
He is a free agent and if the Mariners are interested he could be back next season. He was valuable batting
.264 and had five home runs in 48
games. Turner certainly enjoyed
his time in Seattle. Reliever Yimi
Garcia who is a free agent as well.
The only two to are free agents.

With Polanco and Urias gone the
Mariners have Ryan Bliss and Leo
Rivas on the roster to play second
base although they can play short
as well. Both showed some flashes.
The Mariners may go out and acquire
a second baseman with through trade
or free agency. The only prospect
that might be ready is Cole Young.
He would be a favorite to take the spot.

Josh Rojas who began the season
platooning with Urias at third base
may have been the Mariners best
hitter into May however slumped
after that. Rojas ended up only
hitting .225 though his defense
was excellent and better than expected.

The likihood the Mariners won't
acquire a first, second and third
baseman for next season. The
chance they will acquire a second
and third baseman. I would look
first getting a  third baseman then a second baseman. Most likely Rojas
and Dylan Moore will be the backup
infielders depending on how the
upgrading goes.

The Mariners due sign Turner he
will be playing  some first and
dh. The Mariners acquire a first
baseman which could be some on
the market we could see Turner
and Raley being the primary dh.
Raley as the 4th outfielder too.
Of course at times Moore could
play the outfield well as the infield.

All this comes down to what Dipoto,
general manager Hollander and
manager Dan Wilson would like to
see.

Right here keep up to what the
Mariners will do during the off
season. Go M's.

Seahawks Lose Again
