Mariners Announce New Coaching Staff

The Mariners announced coaching
staff for 2025 on Tuesday.

Dan Wilson will return as manager
Edgar Martinez returns with a new role.
He will still be involved in the Mariners
hitters with a new title. Edgar will be
Senior Director of hitting strategy.
He see his time at home games but
won't go on the road with the team.
He will be in charge of development
in practices and philosophies.

Kevin Seitzer is the new hitting coach.
He spent the last ten years as the hitting
coach for the Atlanta Braves.
He was a very good hitter in 12
years in the major leagues. Most of
his seasons were with the Kansas City
Royals and Milwaukee Brewers where
he played mostly third baseman.
His career batting average was .295
though he had only 74 hits. Kevin's
best season was his first full season
where he played in every game but one.
He had a career high 105 runs, 207 hits,
8 triples, 15 home runs, 83 RBIs,
85 strikeouts and .323 batting average.
In eight season he walked more than
strikeouts. This is something the M's
could use.

The Mariners have assistant coach
Bobby Magallanes spent 2021 thru
2023 in the same role with the Atlanta
Braves too. So both know each other.

The Mariners have new first base
coach in Eric Young Jr., and Major
League Field coordinator Louis Boyd.
He comes in to the take the spot of
Carson Vitale who goes to Miami
Marlins as the bench coach under
new manager Clayton McCullough.
Boyd had the same role in the
Mariners minors the last two years.

Kristopher Negron returns however
now at third base after spending last
season as first base coach. Manny
Acta moves to bench coach to be
along side of Dan Wilson. The Mariners
having outstanding season in the
pitching no moves were made in the
area.
