Preview Washington Huskies at Maryland

It won't be an easy task this coming
Saturday as the Huskies will play
at Maryland who are 4-0 on the season.
The Huskies lost on the road all last
season. They hope to turn their fortune
around.

This will be the first time the Huskies
play Maryland in the Big Ten Conference.
The only other meeting was back on
Christmas Day in 1982 where the Huskies
won 21-20 in the very first Aloha Bowl
in Hawaii.

Though Maryland is undefeated and
at home the Huskies are favored by
5.5 points. A bit of a surprise though
I haven't seen Maryland play this
season.

The Maryland Terrapins are led
offensevily by freshman quarterback
Malik Washington. They have been
a passing team for most of these
four games. It is tough to win five
games in a row especially with a
freshman quarterback might be
a good reason the Huskies are
favored. This should be a good
game to watch.

The Huskies do run the ball more
then the Terrapins with 300 more
yards on the season while the
Terrapins have thrown on 90
more yards in the air. The difference
could come down to a turnover.
The games is at 12:30 pm
Pacific Time. Go Dawgs!

Dodgers Sweep the Mariners

This series didn't mean a lot unless
you wanted the Mariners to be the
number one seed. They grabbed
the second seed when they swept
the Rockies.

Final Dodgers 6 Mariners 1

Cal wasn't able to get another home
run in this series however the final
game he was able to drive in another
run.

The Mariners didn't have the whole
starting lineup either.  Arozarena
scored the one run. Though he
didn't hit well for September he does
look he is ready for the playoffs
where he has success before.

Julio wasn't in the game neither
was Canzone or Robles in the outfield.
They rested Josh Naylor once again.
Want to be sure he is ready to go on
Saturday. Mitch Garver caught Sunday
after Harry Ford did on Saturday.

With the regular season over it is
the end of Root Sports. Hopefully
means that cost of games will be
less next season. Everyone in the
booth will be back. Only Jen Mueller
won't return. She does Seahawks
games so see what else goes on
in the future for her..  The games
will be in hand of MLB. We hope
most of the games will be on
local television. We will see.

The Mariners will have first playoffs
at home all we have to wait to see
who they play. Go M's.

WSU Cougars Upset Colorado State On the Road

The Washington State Cougars beat
the Colorado State Buffaloes on their
home field Saturday 20-3.

All the scoring happened in the first
half. Neither team scored in the second
half which is very unusual.

The Buffaloes score first in their first
possession of the game  hitting a
50 yard field goal.  The Cougars QB
Zevi Eckhaus threw a 35 yard touchdown
pass on their first possession than
followed with a field goal.

In the second quarter the Cougars took
a 13-3 lead on a field goal in the second
quarter after getting the ball to the
Buffaloes eight yard line.

The Buffaloes had a 4th down and a half
yard to make a first down at midfield
where the Cougars stopped them.
The turnover allowed Eckhaus to
throw a two yard touchdown to end
the scoring. The second half was
all defense.

The Buffaloes for the first time in
85 games hadn't scored a touchdown
at home and the first time since
October 2006 the Cougars didn't
give up a touchdown on the road.

The Cougars have a bye next
Saturday. They play at #13 ranked
Ole Miss on October 11 followed
by  Virginia on the road as well
on October 18. The only home
game in October will be on the
25th against Toledo.

The Cougars now have a record of 3-2.
It won't be easy the rest of the way
however three more wins would get them
into a bowl game. Go Cougs!

Dodgers Win In The 9th Over M's

Both the Mariners and Dodgers
are preparing for the playoffs.
The Mariners have second seed
set already while Dodgers have
won the National League West.

The Mariners have a bye in the
first round while the Dodgers
have to play in the wild card
beginning on Tuesday.

The Dodgers won Saturday night
with two runs in the top of the 9th.
Final score Dodgers 5 Mariners 3

Logan Gilbert making his last start
before the playoffs went five innings.
The Dodgers hit a two-run homer  in
the 5th. Jorge Polanco hit a three-run
homer in the bottom of the 5th.

Logan Evans just off the injured list
went three innings. The Dodgers tied
it in the 7th when Evans threw a wild
pitch. Evans role likely in the playoffs
be throwing long relief.

In the top of the 9th Andre Munoz
walked two batters both scoring
on a double.

Sunday afternoon the Mariners
will have Bryce Miller making
the final start of the regular
season. Miller will likely pitch
out of the bullpen as the Mariners
will go with three or four starters
in the second round.

Logan Gilbert could start the first
game with Luis Castillo in game
two. Castillo has pitched better
at home than on the road. Giving
Bryan Woo more rest to pitch
game three. Game four will likely
be George Kirby. Of course if there
is a 4th game. It goes the distance
Gilbert will likely pitch game five.

Go M's

Huskies Lose To Buckeyes

The first half was pretty close as
neither team scored a point in the
first quarter then Buckeyes had
a touchdown in the second quarter
and the Huskies a field goal.

Desmond Williams Jr.  threw well
in the first half completing 11 of 12
passes going to eight different
relievers.

The Buckeyes had another touchdown
in the third quarter while Huskies had
another field goal. Unfortunately the
Buckeyes scored ten points in the 4th
quarter while the Huskies were shutout.
Final  Ohio State 24 Huskies 6
This ends the Huskies 22 game winning streak.

In all Desmond was 18 for 22 for 173
yards.   The Buckeyes sacked Desmond
six times which didn't help for sure.

Ohio State is one of four teams that
are undefeated in the Big Ten each
with a 4-0 record.

Next Saturday Huskies are playing
at Maryland. They are undefeated
as well. They have this  Saturday
off.

We wish the Huskies a return to
winning games. Go Dawgs!

Preview Ohio State at Washington

The Ohio State Buckeyes are favored
to beat the Washington Huskies with
a 8.5 at this time. This would end the
Huskies 22 game winning streak at home.

The Huskies are perfect scoring in
red zone so they haven't been stopped
yet. As we know they haven't played
anyone like the Buckeyes yet however
is something positive at this point.

The Buckeyes have scored 121 points
so far on the season. They beat Texas
who were ranked number one before
the season in this first game 14-7.
They followed up beating Grambling
70-0.

They beat Ohio 36-7 the week before.
They had a bye last Saturday.

Mariners Lose Opener To Dodgers

Friday night the Mariners lost 3-2 to
the Dodgers in the opening game
series to the Dodgers in Seattle.

Most of the Mariners starting position
players were in the night. Dominic
Canzone was in right instead of Robles.
Arozarena who had two hits scored
on a run on a fielding error with Julio
ending at second. Julio was walked
three times. Cal had a couple hits though
no home runs. Canzone had the final
run scored in the 8th inning.

Naylor dh while Luke Raley played first.
Most likely where he will be in the playoffs
if he doesn't pinch hit. Cole Young was
at second while Polanco had the game
off. Likely see him at second or dh for
one of the final two games.

George Kirby pitched five innings giving
up a two run homer early on. Bazardo
followed on giving up the third run.
Kirby struck out ten while walking three.
He might be in the first playoff round
depending whether Woo is ready to go.
We likely see Gilbert and Castillo in
the first round the Mariners play starting
next Saturday. Go M's.

Seahawks Win With No Time Left

The prediction was this would be a
close one and it was

Final Seahawks 23 Cardinals 20

The Seahawks almost blew a two
touchdown lead in the 4th quarter.
At least the Seahawks had a two
touchdown lead.

The Cardinals left a lit bit of time
left after they tied the game. The
Seahawks were able to make some
plays to put them in position to
kick a field goal. The Seahawks
actually missed a field goal before
the Cardinals tied it. At least this
is good news.

Personally I think it would be nice
to not kick any field goals in the
last two minutes of regulation or
in overtime. I am sure I will never
get my wish though.

The Seahawks are now second place
by themselves at 3-1 and have the
most points scored in the division
right now anyway. The Rams could
after four games have more than the
Seahawks.

The 49ers are now 3-0. They have
scored ten more points than apponents
in all three total.

It is amazing the Baltimore Ravens
have scored the same total as the
Seahawks in three games however
they are 1-2. There defense not as
good as it is usually.

The Seahawks next game is at home
on October 5 against Tampa Bay. We
will see several former Huskies on that
team.

The Mariners look like they will sweep
the Rockies. They had already clinched
the second seed so they won't have to
play the first round.  The first game
will be in Seattle a week from Saturday.
The season ends on Sunday. The Mariners will be able to rest some of their starters.

Emerson Hancock went four innings
without giving up a run in starting.
We hope that Woo will be ready for
the playoffs.  Go M's.

Preview Washington State at Colorado State

The Washington State Cougars are now
2-2 heading into the last game of September.
College football always seems to go by
fast until the bowl games.

The Cougars have rough losses in the
last two outings against North Texas
and Washington Huskies.  The Apple
Cup the Cougars offense did look better
for three quarters. Can't say for the
defense.

The Cougars are doing better than their
counterpart in the Pac-12 the Oregon
State Beavers who are 0-4.

The game is at Colorado State where
they are favored 5.5 points over Cougars.
We hope the Cougars can find a way
to win. CSU will be joining the Pac-12
next season so for the foreseeable
future they will face each other.

We hope a few years down the road
there will be an Easter Conference
and. Western Conference. If so
they both will be split in half as well.
We hope the Cougars will join in.

Colorado State lost their season opener
to the Huskies 38-21.   Their following
were close games  beating Northern
Colorado 21-17 then lost to USTA 17-16.
A good reason this is expected to be
close too. The UST game they scored
with a few seconds remaining. The
Buffaloes went for a two point conversation
that failed for the difference.

Jackson Brosseau who came into the
game last week is expected to start
against the Cougars.   He was 10 of
12 for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Colorado State ran for 153 yards.
It is important the Cougars have no
turnovers. Also they need to run
better than they have on the season
so far. The most important is the
defense do a better job. Go Cougs!

Mariners Clinch Division

Wednesday night the Seattle Mariners
clinched the West Division beating
the Colorado Rockies 9-2.

The Mariners have one more game
against the Rockies on Thursday.
They sweep the Rockies they will
end the season as the second
best record this would mean have
home field advantage.

The Mariners had five home runs
including two by Cal Raleigh making
him tied with Babe Ruth for 60.
That is more than amazing or
awesome. The Mariners have four
more games so how many more
will Cal hit. We will see.

Luis Castillo pitched great going
seven and two-thirds innings.
He got 22 of the 23 batters he
faced out.  Gave up a home run
for the only run. He struck out
ten batters.

Cal had his first home run in the
first inning followed by Julio for
the third time back to back
Polanco had the third home run
in the inning. Geno Suarez had
a home run as well as Cal's
second.

Bryan Woo won't start Thursday
so not sure who will start. We
could see Harry Ford behind the
plate. The Mariners only need
one win in the final four games
to get the second seed.

Stay tuned for more better days.
Go M's.

Mariners Head To Playoffs

For the second time in 24 years the
Seattle Mariners clinched a spot to
the spot in the playoffs.

Final Mariners 4 Rockies 3

For seven innings the Rockies led
most of the way. In the eight inning
the Mariners loaded the bases and
Josh Naylor hit a double to clear
the bases. Nothing better unless
it was a grand slam home run.

In recent games the Mariners have
shown hitting doubles is as important
as home runs and might even be more
exciting. For those who were around
30 years ago when Edgar Martinez
hit a double to score Ken Griffey Jr.
to advance to the next level of the
playoffs. We hope this time the M's
can make it all the way to the World
Series.

The Mariners right now have the healthiest
they have been all season long. The
pitching be the best all season long.
We hope with rest Bryan Woo will be
ready to go.

Bryce Miller went five and two-thirds
innings giving up the three runs. The
bullpen did their job to keep them
in the game giving up just two hits.
Andre Munoz had another save.

The Mariners had only three hits
however walks worked into the
equation for the win.

Wednesday night which should be
loud Luis Castillo will go for the
Mariners. If he pitches anywhere
like he did in his last outing the
Mariners may clinch the division
title. Go M's.

Preview Seahawks at Arizona

The Arizona Cardinals are 1.5 favorites
over the Seahawks. I guess some didn't
see the win at Pittsburgh.

The Seahawks the way they have played
the last two weeks with some missing
pieces I will still put them  for the  win.
The Seahawks have the history of
playing well on national television and
this is a Thursday night game.

Sunday the Cardinals lost to the 49ers
by one so I give them credit on that one.
The difference though the 49ers  kicked
a field goal with no time left.  Both teams
had one touchdown each.

Kyler Murray was 22 of 35 passing for
159 yards and one touchdown. Trey
Benson led the Cardinals with 42 yards
on ten carries. In all did have more
yardage on the ground than the 49ers.
The 49ers had 284 yards in the air.

Mike MacDonald said in his press
conference on Monday he is looking
to improve the running game. If so
the Seahawks should win. Go Hawks!

Mariners Sweep Astros

The Seattle Mariners came to Houston
and did the job needed. They now have
a three game lead with six remaining
at home. They have Monday off then
play three against the Colorado Rockies
and finish the regular season with
three against the  Dodgers at home.

Sunday final  Mariners 7 Astros 3

The Mariners scored all seven runs
in the second inning. The big hit
was JP Crawford grand slam home run.
It ended with Cal Raleigh two-run
homer his 58th of the season. Two
more he will be the 4th American
League player of all-time to hit 60
home runs.

Logan Gilbert went six innings giving
up three hits including a home run
in the third  inning. Caleb Ferguson
followed giving up a run in a third of
an inning. Vargas went one and two-
thirds while giving up a home run.
Brash pitched the 9th giving up one
hit.

The Mariners are now 87-69. The
starters have not been announced
yet against the Rockies yet. Follow
along Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo
may as they pitched in the series
against the Royals. As soon they
clinch they will set for the playoffs.
Go M's.

Seahawks Blow the Saints Out of the Water

The Seahawks beat the New Orleans
Saints 44-13.

The game almost over in the first
quarter.  Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught
a 12 yard touchdown pass shortly
after  the Saints defense was
charged a personal foul. . This was
under ten minutes mark in the first
quarter. Less than two minutes later
Tory Hunter ran back a 95 yard punt
for a touchdown. A little more than
three minutes later Ken Walker lll
had a 3 yard run. Making it 21-0.

Early second quarter the Saints kicked
a field goal. About 90 seconds later
Tory Hunter had a 14 yard touchdown
pass. Ken Walker lll had his second
touchdown of the first half. Seahawks
and Saints each kicked a field goal.
Halftime score Seahawks 38-6.

The third quarter the Seahawks had two
field goals. The Saints had a touchdown
in the fourth quarter.. Seahawks win.

Sam Darnold played well going 14 of 18
thrown in through the air for 218 yards and two touchdowns.

Interesting the Saints had same yardage
hose threw the ball twice as much.

The Seahawks have a short week to get
ready to play this Thursday against the
Arizona Cardinals.   They lost to the 49er
by one. The 49ers are 3-0. Go Hawks.

Mariners Win Huskies Win

The Seattle Mariners won game
two and has the tiebreaker for
the division with a score of 6-4.

Eugenio Suarez continues to
heat up driving in the first run
in the first inning scoring Julio
who had walked. In the second
Inning Josh Naylor singled then
stole second base went to third
on Mitch Garver on a fly ball.
Robles hit a sacrifice fly to score
Naylor.

The third run in the third inning
made Mariners history with
Cal solo home run breaking the
tie with Junior Griffey.

In the 5th inning with the bases
loaded Josh Naylor walked
scoring  Cal. Julio scored the
second run when Canzone hit
a sharp line drive to right field.
Canzone pinch hit for dh Mitch
Garver.  In the 7th Suarez and
Polanco each hit a double  to
score another run..

The bottom of the 7th became
interesting with the Astros hitting
a grand slam home run to make it
interesting however neither scored
a run in the 8th or 9th

George Kirby pitched good going
six innings with no walks and 7l
strike outs. Vargas gave up the
grand to the Astros. Bazardo and
Speier pitched the 8th. Munoz
took care of the 9th.  Go M's.

The Washington Huskies won the
Apple Cup beating Cougars 59-24.
The game was interesting and close
until  the 4th quarter when they scored
four touchdowns for 28-0.

Desmond Williams Jr. had a good
job throwing the ball completing
16 of 19 for 298 yards and 4 tds.
He led the Huskies rushing carry
the 13 times for 88 yards and one
touchdown. Jonah Coleman had
12 carries for 59 yard. Though he
had two touchdowns.

The Huskies play Ohio State
at home next Saturday afternoon.
They may have to have another
4th quarter to win.

The   Cougars will play at  Colorado
State next Saturday late afternoon.
Go teams.

Mariners Shutout Astros

The Seattle Mariners got off to a
good start in Houston beating
the Astros 4-0.

All four of the Mariners runs were
solo home runs.  They were spread
out in the game which can be tough.

Julio Rodriguez hit the first home
run in the first inning. Eugenio Suarez
had the second in the 4th inning.
Victor Robles had his first home run
on the season in the 7th and Josh
Naylor in the 8th.

Bryan Woo was pitching an outstanding
game however came out after the 5th
inning feeling soreness in his arm.
He had given up only one, one walk,
and struck out seven.

Eduardo Bazardo came in pitched
the six and seventh innings without
giving up a hit.  Matt Brash rebound
by giving up only one hit. Andre
Munoz finished the game with one
hit.

The Mariners now have game two
on Saturday so got the toughest
one out of the way. Be good if they
can take care of this game as well.
Go M's.

Thursday, September 18, 2025

Mariners Shutout Royals

Luis Castillo pitched a good game for
one of the most important wins on the
season so far.

Final Mariners 2 Royals 0

The Mariners and Astros are tied
again for first place as they head
to face each other beginning Friday.
One of the other will be in first place
heading into the final six games of
the regular season.

Castillo went six innings giving up
three hits, no walks and three strike
outs. Bazardo, Speier and Munoz
finished up. It was Munoz 36th save
of the season.

The Mariners had only five hits. The
first run happened in the second
inning when Polanco  hit a double
scoring Josh Naylor. It seems every
time up we should expect a double.

It was the only run scored until the
8th inning when Victor Robles scored
on a double by JP Crawford.  Dominic Canzone got on base for a shift violation
by the Royals. Something that doesn't
happen often.  Robles pinch ran for
Robles.

The Mariners have nine  games
remaining in the season.   Go M's.

Preview New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks now 1-1 on the season
take on the New Orleans Saints this
Sunday at home. The Seahawks are
favored by 7.5.

The Saints have 10-6 record over the
Seahawks. They were better back in
the day. The last time they played
was in 2022 when the Saints won
39-32 at home.

The Saints are 0-2 on the season.
This could be the reason the Seahawks
are favored and at home.

The Saints quarterback is Spencer Rattler
who was 25 of 34  in the loss against the
49ers in the 26-21 lose last Sunday.  He
had two touchdown throws.

Alvin Kamara is the Saints starting running
back and primary runner. He had 21 carries
for 99 yards. It will be important that the
Seahawks not give up big runs to him.
My opinion is the Seahawks are a someway
bend and not break deference. It will be
important to put the Saints in third and
long situations. Turnovers could be the
key to the win. This would be for both
teams.

The 49ers three more than they ran
against the Saints however the
Seahawks should set running the
ball to setup the pass.

The Seahawks won by two touchdowns
against the Steelers by dominating the
4th quarter. The Seahawks need to  do
the same against the Saints. Having at
least a touchdown lead  going into the
4th quarter. This way the offense and
defense don't play conservative.
Go Hawks!

Mariners Win Streak Ends

The Seattle Mariners lost  Wednesday
night  7 to 5  to the KC Royals.

The Royals scored three runs in the
first inning then the Mariners scored
two in the second inning. The  score
stayed that way until the 7th win
the Mariners tied it with a run. In the
8th the Mariners scored another run
go take the lead briefly. It gave hope
the Mariners would keep the streak
alive.

Unfortunately Matt Brash who has had
great season gave up four runs in the
bottom of the 8th. The Mariners scored
one run in the top of the 9th and that was
it.

Now we have to see if the Mariners
can win Thursday night and start a
new streak.  Go M's!

Mariners Ten Game Winning Streak

It isn't easy to have a ten game
winning streak that included
extra innings games.

Right now we could say the
Mariners are already in the
playoffs where every game
seems to count.

The Mariners have been hitting
a lot of doubles as well as
home runs during this streak.
Jorge Polanco has 28 doubles
on the season which 11 has
happened in September. His
batting average is .392 this
month compared to April
where he looked hot at the
plate hitting .378. We hope it
keeps going the rest of the
season.

 Julio Rodriguez is hitting .316
in September with seven doubles
and four home runs while driving
in 15 runs. Cal who now is now
tied with Ken Griffey Jr.  for most
homes in a season for the Mariners.
He is hitting.309 for September with
3 doubles, six home runs and has
drive in 11 runs. This exactly the
same number for walks and strike
outs.

In the pitch department Logan Gilbert
has an era of 3.93 in his last seven
starts. In thirty-six and two-thirds
innings he has walked eight while
striking out 46. George Kirby has
been inconsistent all season with
his last start on September 14th
being the best of the month where
he went six and one-third innings
giving up two runs.

Bryan Woo who has been the best
pitcher on the Mariners this season
and became an all-star September
has been his worst month with three
starts however still good at 3.71 era.
Bryce Miller who will start Wednesday
evening has struggled in September
after  coming off the injured list in
mid August we hope his best performance
for the year and backed up by the offense.

Luis Castillo has had his up and downs
all season had rough outing in his
first outing in September has given up
only one run in each of his last two
starts. We hope that he pitches well
again in his next start. The bullpen
has done well in this  ten game streak
for the most part. The high leverage
guys have been outstanding while the
other guys have done ok so if the team
can continue to do what they have
then we hope to see a division title
or at least as a wild card. Go M's.

Mariners Win Big In Opening Game Plus Cal Hits More home runs

The Mariners got off to fast start in this opening game  of the  series and road
trip.

Final Mariners 12 Royals 5

Not only did the Mariners win they
knocked the Kansas City Royals
out of the playoffs. It would have
been  tough for the Royals to make
it since they would have to win all
the remaining games of the regular
season.

Cal Raleigh had a double plus back
to back home runs to break Mickey
Mantle  record for home runs for a
switch  hitter in baseball history. He
hit a home run  both left handed and
right handed. Now he has tied Ken
Griffey Jr. with 56 home runs for the Mariners.

Cal wasn't the only one with a big
night. Dominic Canzone who was
at dh with Polanco at second base
and Victor Robles  in right field.
Canzone had his greatest night
going 5 for 5 with three home
runs.

Now the Mariners have a ten game
winning  streak. Logan Gilbert went
five and two-thirds giving up two runs.
With a big lead he didn't really need
to pitch longer.  The Mariners  used
five relievers. Bryce Miller will start
on Wednesday.  Go M's.

Preview For the Apple Cup

The Washington Huskies had this
last weekend off to prepare for
the Apple Cup and WSU Cougars
were blown out of the water.

The Huskies are a 20.5 favorite
even though the game is being
played in Pullman.

We know the Apple Cup anything
can happen. Last year the Cougars
won at Lumen Field 24-19. The
Huskies are looking to take the
Cougars down.

The Huskies are rushing just over
303 yards a game. I am sure like
the game they will be putting the
rushing game in the hands of
Jonah Coleman.

The Cougars have a new coach
and many new players who have
not played in the Apple Cup so
a reason the Huskies are favored.
After last week's big loss at North
Texas will make it tough on the
Cougars this week to.

The Cougars strength is in the
passing game. Who will be the
starting quarterback hasn't been
decided yet.

We wish both teams the best
in the Apple Cup.

Seahawks And Mariners Win

The Seattle Seahawks upset the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-17.

The first quarter was pretty close with
Troy  Horton  scoring a touchdown first
the Seahawks the the defense allowed
two field goal. In the second goal former
Seahawk DK Metcalf had a touchdownanf they made a two point conversation to
make it 14-7.

Third quarter was quiet with Seahawks
tight end AJ Barner tying the game 14-14.
The fourth quarter began with a Jason
Myers field goal for the Seahawks.
A mistake  by the Steelers special teams
the Seahawks had a touchdown.
The Steelers had another field goal to
come within a touchdown  however
Ken Walker lll had a 19 yard run at the
3:41 mark in the ball game.

Ken Walker let the Seahawks rushing
with 105 yards on 13 carries. Charbonnet
had 15 carries however for ten yards.
Both team quarterbacks had 33 throws
however Sam Darnold completed four
more completions for 295 yards to
Aaron Rodgers 203 and one more touchdown.
Both had two interceptions.

Now the Seahawks 1-1 and will play the
Saints at home next Sunday. Go Hawks.

The Seattle Mariners end up sweeping
the Angels Sunday after winning 11-2.
George Kirby rebounded going six and
one-third innings giving up three hits, two
runs, no walks and had a career high 14
strike outs. The two runs were both on
solo home runs.

Speaking of home runs Cal Raleigh had
his 54th of the season in the first inning
tying Mickey Mantle with the most home
runs by a switch-hitter in major league
 baseball history with Randy Arozarena
on the base paths.

In the third inning Cal after singling
scored on a double by Julio.. After
stealing third base Julio scored on
Josh Naylor sacrifice fly. Jorge Polanco
having his first of three doubles scored
on a Canzone single to make it three
more runs.

In the fourth inning the Mariners had
six more runs to close out the scoring
for them on the night. JP Crawford
started with a single. Cal walked and
Julio had another double. After JP
scored Josh Naylor single scoring
both Cal and Julio. Naylor goes to
third on Polanco double and both score
on Canzone single. Rivas walks and Crawford hits a double scoring Canzone.

In all the Mariners had a team record
seven doubles. I said before that the
Mariners could hit a lot of doubles in
T-Mobile Park.

Emerson Hancock pitched one and two-thirds innings after coming in for Kirby. Gave up
just one hit. Legunmina who recently was
called up again pitched the 9th to close
out the game..

The Mariners have Monday off before facing
the Royals in Kansas City. For the Royals to have a chance in the playoffs they have
to sweep the Mariners. Let's take care of
that on Tuesday so it won't happen.

The Astros lost Sunday so the . Mariners
are up by one game.e in the playoffs.
The Astros are home against the Rangers
for three  before facing the Mariners.
It woulf be nice if the Rangers beat the
Astros ateast two out of three games as
they are three behind the Mariners right
now..

Mariners Take Series

Saturday night the Mariners took
the series winning 5-3 and still
tied with the Astros.

The Mariners scored two runs in
the first inning. Jorge Polanco
continues to hit a lot of doubles
recently this time driving in Cal
Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez.

The Angels scored two in the
top of the third to tie including
a home run.

In the 4th JP hit a home run.
In the 5th Josh Naylor hit a
single scoring Cal and Julio.

The Angels scored a final run
in the 9th however came up
short.

Bryan Woo went six innings
giving up the first two runs
however struck out 13 Angels.

Now we see if the Mariners will
sweep the Angels on Sunday
afternoon.  Go M's.

WSU Cougars Lose Big Time

North Texas beat the Cougars 59-10.
Not something expected even if a loss
was in the cards.

With a new coaching staff and lot
of new players will this happen
more often or a loss like this won't
help.

Will there be changes on the offense
or the defense for that matter.

A good thing is it is only the third game
of the season. How will it be for the
Cougars heading into the Apple Cup
next week. Rival games are usually
different than any other game so will
the Cougars make it to be a turnaround
or not.

The Cougars had two fumbles and
three interceptions in the game which
didn't help. Jaxon Potter who started
at QB for the Cougars completed 16
of 2e passes for 139 yards with no
touchdowns and three interceptions.

Zevi Eckhaus who many Cougar fans
I am sure thought would be the starter
at QB came in and completed 7 of 10
for 72 yards didn't throw a touchdown
either. He did have a touchdown running
in with 1:57 left in the game..With a
new coaching staff who became QB
was a choice. Now we wonder whether
a change happen in the Apple Cup.

North Texas had eight touchdowns
on the day with four on the ground
and four in the air. The longest run
for a touchdown was 14  yards while
12 was longest in the air. So how
many was the major problem.

Now the Cougars will have to see whether
they can have a confidence builder
or not against the Huskies next week.

Look At Former Washington Huskies In NFL Part 3

The Pittsburgh Steelers

They have two players who will
be facing the Seahawks in game
two.

Troy Fautanu first round pick
last year is the starting right
tackle. He missed all of last
season after ga.e one. We hope
better this season. According
to Fautanu they need to protect
quarterback Aaron Rodgers better.
Let's make it after the Seahawks
game.

Carson Bruener inside linebacker
was drafted seventh round this
season. He is a backup however
is known for being good on
special teams.

San Francisco 49ers

Sebastian Valdez defensive tackle
signed originally as a non drafted
free agent. He currently is on the
practice squad.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Devin Culp seventh round pick last year
is the fourth tight end so how much he
plays we will see.

Greg Gaines backup nose tackle is
now in his third season with the Bucs.

Jalen McMillan wide receiver  was
hurt during the preseason with
neck injury is sidelined for at least
the first eight games.

Cade Otton one of the top Husky
tight ends of all-time is the Bucs
starting tight end.

Vita Vea now is in his eight season
as the Bucs starting nose tackle.

Now this is all the former Huskies
in the NFL.  Let you know how they
do throughout the season.

Mariners Beat Angels Again

It didn't take a lot of offense Friday
night however just enough to win.

Mariners 2 Angels 1

The Mariners are still tied with the
Astros as they beat the Braves 11 to
3.

Luis Castillo went six innings plus
giving up one run in the 7th inning
without any outs.

The Mariners scored first in the 4th
with a double by Polanco scoring Cal
Raleigh. Polanco has been hitting with
a lot of power lately.

The Mariners won in the seventh
when Mitch Garver hit a home
run.  The bullpen has done a great
job during this seven game winning
streak. Carlos Vargas who came in
for Castillo gave up the lone hit however
struck out three. Speier and Munoz
finished it off.

Now we see if the Mariners can
Best the Angels once again. Go M's.

Preview Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh

The Seahawks look to play in another
close game this Sunday.  The Steelers
are favored by a field goal.

The Seahawks  will likely have  safety
rookie Nick Emmanwori miss being
taken out  of last week's game. Hopefully
he won't be out long. Fellow safety
Julian Love didnt practice either howeve
they make  every that he will play..
Cornerback Devon Witherspoon the
Seahawks defender missed practice
to but they will try to play him.  The
Steelers missed four players out of
practice.

Last week the Steelers won 34-32
over the New York Jets. The Steelers
though let the Jets run for 182 yards.
We should see the Seahawks establish
the run early.

The Steelers now having Aaron Rodgers
at quarterback back passed the ball
a lot more than running. The Seahawks
gave up more yardage last week against
the 49ers  in the air.  The Steelers will
probably try to do the same thing.

It will be important for the Seahawks
to win since they don't want to be
down 0-2 on the season. Go Hawks!

Mariners Move Into a Tie

Thursday night for the second game
in a row the Seattle Mariners won
in extra innings going twelve innings.
This time against the LA Angels.

Final Mariners 7 Angels 6

The Mariners scored first in the second
inning with four runs including a double
by red hot Julio Rodriguez.  The Angels
had a home run in the third, followed
by two runs in the 4th and a home run
by Mike Trout in the 5th.

The Angels have been tough on the
Mariners the last couple of years.
Neither team scored again until
the 11th each getting a run. The
Angels had a run in the top of the
12th. JP Crawford hit a double to
tie the game. Harry Ford pinch hit
for the pitcher and had a sacrifice
fly to win the game.

The Houston Astros lost to the
Toronto Blue Jays 6-0 on Thursday
night on the road. Now they play
Friday through Sunday at Atlanta
against the Braves while the
Mariners continue against the
Angels at home.

Next week after having Monday
off the Mariners are on their
final road trip of the regular
season. They play the Royals
in Kansas City followed by the
Astros in Houston. This division
title may come down to this
series.

The Texas Rangers are two games
behind the Mariners and the Astros
so they have a chance to get in as
well. The rest of the way will be
interesting and we hope the Mariners
continue playing winning ball the
rest of the way. Go M's.

Mariners Win Extra Innings

The Mariners who haven't done
well in extra innings this season
end up beating the St. Louis
Cardinals in 13 innings.

Final Mariners 4 Cardinals 2

Cardinals hit a home run in
the first inning and Dominic
Canzone  hit a sacrifice fly
to tie in the second inning.

Neither team scored again
until the 11th when both
scored a run. In the 13th
Leo Rivas hit a walk off
two-run homer. It was only
his second of the year and
career. The time he has
spent with the Mariners he
has had a good time. He
currently is hitting .278.

Logan Gilbert who started
only went four and two-thirds
innings giving up the one
run and he struck out right.
The Mariners used six relievers.
Only Bazardo, Brash and Munoz
didn't pitch.

Emerson Hancock pitched the
last two innings and recorded
the win. Sounds like he is
getting the idea of relief pitching.
The bullpen did a great job
giving up on my three hits and
one run.

Now the Mariners swept the
Cardinals in three games and
have won five games in a row.
The Mariners now face the
Angels for four games at T-Mobile
Park.  We hope this winning
will continue on. Go M's.

Preview WSU Cougars at North Texas

This will be the first meeting between
the two schools. North Texas is a
slight favorite so it looks to be a
close game .

The game will be at 12:30 pm
Pacific time and can be seen on
ESPN.

Like WSU,  North Texas is 2-0 as
well. Their opening game they won
51-0 over Lamar followed by beating
Western Michigan 33-30 on the
road. Western Michigan usually
is a good team.

North Texas known as Mean Green
quarterback Drew Mestermaker threw
33 passes and completed 18 for 224
yards with two touchdowns.

Both teams had running backs that
ran for over 100 yards though Western Washington ran the ball more than they
passed.

North Texas won in overtime. Western Michigan scored first with a touchdown
then North Texas had a touchdown to
win.

The Mean Green runs and passes about
equally so the Cougars will have to see
about stopping both. The Cougars on
the other hand is more of a passing team
though they ran better in game two then
against Idaho  in the opener.

This should be a good game to watch
and to see the Cougars heading into
Apple Cup. Go Cougs!

Look at former Washington Huskies in NFL part 2

Indianapolis Colts

You could say injuries continue for
former Huskies. Salvon Ahmed who
began his career as a backup running
back who signed with the Colts after
not playing last season injured his ankle
will be out for the season.

Kansas City Chiefs

Trent McDuffie has been a pro bowler
at cornerback on a super bowl and AFC
championship team. We wish him
another great year.

LA Chargers

Will Dissly will be at tight end for the
second season after spending six
years with the Seattle Seahawks.
Last year he had 50 receptions for
481 yards and two touchdowns.
We wish him another good year.

Elijah Molden who had a good career
at Washington will be the backup
at free safety. This will be his second
season with the Chargers after being
with Tennessee Titans for three years
Last year he had 50 tackles and three
interceptions.

Los Angeles  Rams

Coleman Shelton is the starting center
for the Rams. Last year he spent with
the Chicago Bears. Before  that he
was with the Rams. His first three seasons
he was a reserve before becoming a
starter in 2022.

Minnesota  Vikings

Bryan Murphy  cornerback was  an early second
round pick in 2019 by the Arizona Cardinals
where he played  four years primarily  as a
starter.  He now begins his third year with
the Vikings as a starter.

New England Patriots

Ja'Lynn Polk was  drafted last year in the
Nfl draft by the Patriots in the second rounId.
He was a successful  receiver for the 2023
season  for the  Huskies when they went
to the NCAA championship game. He started
seven of the fifteen  games he played in
last season. Unfortunately  like some other
former Huskies he is going to miss the season
after  undergoing  surgery  on a shoulder.

Jack Westover  who made the  Huskies as a
walkon had an excellent  season in 2023
didn't  make the Seahawks  in 2024 after
signing as an undrafted free agent.  He did
sign on the Patriots practice squad and
ended up playing in three games. This
year he made the Patriots  52 player roster.
He is listed as the teams lone fullback.
We could  see him at tight end as well.

Next time Part 3 will be the remaining
former Huskies.  Throughout  the
season  we will see how  some are doing.
Go Dawgs!

Mariners Win Again

George Kirby struggled once
again going four innings while
throwing 85 pitches and giving
up three runs to the Cardinals.

The Cardinals scored first
with two runs in the second
inning.  Randy Arozarena
hit a three-run homer in the
third to take the lead. The
Cardinals tied it in the top
of the 4th. Josh Naylor
hit a solo home run in
the 4th. Also Arozarena
hit a sacrifice fly. No.more
scoring after that.

Caleb Ferguson came in the
5th followed by Bazardo and
Speier who all didn't give up
a hit. Matt Brash gave up a
hit in the 8th however struck
out three. Munoz finished
giving up a hit and a strike
to close it off.

The Mariners have now won
four in a row. Wednesday
the Mariners will see about
sweeping the Cardinals.

Final Mariners 5 Cardinals 3

Toronto Blue Jays walked off
beating the Astros. The  M's
are now down by one game
to the Astros.  Go M's.

Mariners Come From Behind Win

The Mariners one another key win
now winning three in a row.

Final Mariners 4 Cardinals 2

Opening game of the series and
homestand by the Mariners. Very
important at this stage of the season.

Bryan Woo started and went six innings
Monday night. He gave up a two run
homer in the 4th inning. The Mariners
rallied scoring four runs  in the sixth.
That was it on the night.

Leo Rivas starting at second base
walked then went to third on Arozarena
singled. The Cardinals changed pitchers
who.walked Cal Raleigh. Julio hit
a hard one off the glove of the Cardinals
shortstop to score Rivas. Josh Naylor
hit a double scoring Arozarena and
Cal. Julio tried to score however was
out at the plate.  Naylor stole third then
Polanco hit a long sacrifice fly that
almost went out to score Naylor.

Matt Brash came in the 7th followed
by Bazardo and Munoz. The bullpen
didn't give up a hit.

Now we hope that the Mariners can.
win Tuesday night and win the series.
Thursday the  Mariners start a four
game series at home against the
Angels. We hope the Mariners have
more success against them than
recently.

The Mariners have next Monday off
and go to Kansas City for three
followed by three at Houston on
the last road trip of the regular
season.

Second baseman Ryan Bliss who
was injured early on the season
got hurt this weekend at Tacoma
on a rehab assignment. He is lost
for the season and had to have surgery.
We wish him the best on continued
rehab during the off-season..

Seahawks Lose Opener

The Seattle Seahawks remind me of the
Mariners where they miss out on
opportunities.

In the last two minutes the Seahawks
were ahead 13-10. The 49ers scored
when another turnover was possible
however  Woolen wasn't able to bat
the ball away instead went into the
arms of the receiver.

The Seahawks had an opportunity to
win after a long pass completed to
Jaxon Smith-Njigba.  Sam Darnold
had a  ball deflicked in which int
was called a fumble and recovered
by the 49ers.

This was a good opportunity for the
Seahawks to win however can't
make . mistakes late in the game.

The 49ers had more yards on the ground
and in the air. They had the ball 15  more
minutes. The Seahawks were lucky to be
in the game however should have pulled
it out.

The Seahawks play the Steelers in Pittsburgh
next week.  The Steelers beat the Jets in
New York 34-32.

Mariners Blow Out Braves

The Mariners certainly know how to
get out of a slump on the road.

Final Mariners 18 Braves 2

Luis Castillo who has struggled on
the mound recently went six innings
giving up four hits and a run on a homer.
Newly acquired Jose Castillo from the
New York Mets on waivers, Emerson
Hancock, and Luke Jackson finished
the game. The bullpen should be ready
for the series against the Cardinals at
home.

The Mariners first run scored in the
second inning when Mitch Garver
hit a triple driving in Josh Naylor.

The blowout started in the third inning
when the Mariners scored right runs.
Mariners had a run scored in the sixth.
The Mariners final blow was scoring
seven runs in the ninth inning. It
included Cal Raleigh's  53rd home run.
Harry Ford got in again and scored.
a run in the 9th.

What I have never remembered before
the Mariners first five players in the
lineup drive in three runs each.

Bryan Woo is scheduled to start on
Monday against the Cardinals follow
by George Kirby and Logan Gilbert.
For the Mariners to have the best chance
to make the playoffs they need to win
at least two games. Go M's.

Cougars and Huskies Both Win

WSU Cougars and Washington Huskies
are both 2-0 now heading into week 3.
The Cougars will be on the road next
Saturday at North Texas while the
Huskies have a bye.

The Cougars offense played much
better on Saturday then the week
before.

The final  WSU 36 San Diego State 13

SDSU scored first on a 36 yard pass
at then ten minutes mark of the first
quarter. It was pretty much the Cougars
after that scoring 29 unanswered points.

Almost five minutes later the Cougars
tied the game at seven on a 3 yard
pass from QB Jaxon Potter to receiver
Trey Leckner  who later on had another
touchdown catch.

The second quarter the Cougars kicked
a 49 yard field goal early on.  They caused
a safety at 1:06 remaining of the half.
They ended the first half with Leckner's
second td.

The Cougars had a touchdown and
field goal in the third quarter. SDSU
ended the quarter with a touchdown
however we're not able to convert
a 2pt attempt.

The Cougars backup quarterback
Julian Dugger ran in for three yards
at 2:48 remaining in the game to
end it. Good job Cougars.

The Washington Huskies dominated
little brother UC Davis winning 70-10.
The Huskies 628 total yardage with
rushing and passing both over 300
yards.

The Huskies first score was in just
under the first three minutes of the
first quarter. UC Davis had the ball
first in which they were stopped.
It took the Huskies going three plays
for 60 yards with Jonah Coleman
scoring on a 15 yard run. He had
another run this time for one yard
less than four minutes later. In
total Coleman had five touchdowns.

Davis had a field goal making it
interesting to end the first quarter.
The second quarter the Huskies
had two touchdowns where qb
Desmond Williams Jr. ran in for
8 yards. A few minutes later Coleman
had his third touchdown of the
game.  Davis scored a touchdown
and final points at 5:28 mark
remaining in the first half. Coleman
had his 4th touchdown at 2:36
then Denzel Boston had a 78 yard
punt return.

Halftime score Washington 42 UC Davis 10

The Huskies had two touchdowns in
both the third and 4th quarters. Backup
QB Kai Horton had a 10 yard run for the
first touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Desmond Williams Jr threw 25 passes
completing 16 for 254 yards and one
touchdown.  Jonah Coleman ran for
111 yards on 15 carries and the five
touchdowns. Backup running back
carried 14 times for 95 yards and
one touchdown.

The bye week next Saturday then the
Huskies go to Pullman for the Apple
Cup on September 20.

Mariners End Losing Streak

The Mariners  broke their losing streak
and had a big offensive explosion.
We hope this will continue on Sunday
and more at home.

Bryce Miller gave up only two runs
in five and one-third inning.  Julio
Rodriguez  had two home runs
with three hits, scored three times
and drove in four runs.  Julio's
first home was in the first inning
putting them up with 2-0 lead.
The Braves did tie the game at
2-2.

In the seventh inning the Mariners
scored four runs with Julio hitting
his second two-run homer. Eugenio
Suarez had a solo home run and
JP Crawford drove in Jorge Polanco
with final run that inning.

In the 8th inning Josh Naylor hit
a third-run homer.  In the top of
the 9th Cal Raleigh hit his 52nd
home run in the season.

Gabe Speier who had a rough game
on Friday was able to get two outs
without giving up a round. In the
7th Eduardo Bazardo was able to get
three outs. In the 8th inning Caleb
Ferguson who has been struggling
lately as well  only gave up a hit
and no runs. Luke Jackson finished
up getting through the 9th with
no runs.

Harry Ford was able to have another
at bat in the 9th pinch hitting for
Randy Arozarena. He didn't get a hit
but that is ok. Luke Raley played left
field in the 9th.

The Mariners play a day game on Sunday.
Let's see if Harry will be able to start
at catcher. Most likely Cal will dh.
Go M's.

Losses Continue Now In Atlanta

Logan Gilbert  had trouble  in the first
inning he got out with on run only.
He didn't  give  up another run going
six innings  total.  He walked only
one while  striking out seven.

It took some time however  the Mariners
wee able to tie before tge seventh.
The possibility  of  the Mariners winning
was better than the last three games
for sure.

Mat Brash did a good  job in the 7th
inning however tough time came for
the Mariners.  Gabe Speier  who  has
pitched well most of the season gave
up three runs in the  bottom of tge
8th. Speier  looked a bit like he was
throwing  batting practice however
of bad bounces happen in the  infield
as well.  The Braves may have not
scored three runs without the bounces
but would have gotten at least one.
The  results  as far as a loss may have
still happen  however  we will never know.

Saturday evening  Bryce Miller will start
for  the Mariners.  He pitches anything
like his last start  tge Mariners have a
shot but the offense has to do their
job as well.

Victor Robles is expected  back tomorrow
and Josh Naylor  who was scratched
Friday night is expected to play as well.
The Mariners  have to see they can win
these last two in Atlanta.
Final Braves 4 Mariners  1

Heading Into Sunday For Seahawks Opener

In my preview I mentioned that the
San Francisco 49ers were a 2.5
favorite in the game.

According to national media the
49ers still are though running
back Christian McCaffrey isn't
expected to play. I would put
the Seahawks in favor though
in recent times the 49ers have
beat the Seahawks.

The question is how good is this
new offense of the Seahawks
really. How healthy is Ken Walker lll?
How much has the offensive line
improved or not.

I believe the answer lies in the
fullbacks how well they block.
They looked good in most of
the preseason games however
we know that isn't the answer.
If they do measure up to the
preseason they could be the
difference.

The defense is expected to be
good and if they are able to
stop the run and passing. Be
great in the red zone. All comes
down to how much they have
to play and it comes down again
to the offense.

This game should be excited for
the fans to see how it goes in
this game.  Where I have doubt
is the offense has gotten off to
a slow start each season and I
hope this changes too. Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose Ugly

Right now the Seattle Mariners are
supposed to be in the playoff race
however not playing like they are
interested. This has been going
on so many years it is quite disturbing
to be kind about it.

The Mariners are now swept by the Rays
after doing the same to them at TMobile
Park about a month ago.

Final Rays 9 Mariners 4

George Kirby pitched his worst game
ever as a major league. He lasted only
two innings giving up four runs in
each.

Unlike the Mariners the Rays didn't
hit one home run just the hits kept
coming. Only thing that didn't make
it less ugly was that Julio Rodriguez
hit a three run homer. in the middle
of the game.

A change in the lineup would be nice.
The Mariners will have Thursday off
and play the Braves in Atlanta for three.
Logan Gilbert goes for the Mariners
while Chris Sale for the Braves. The
Mariners have done well against some
of the top pitchers this season and
we hope this happens Friday. Go M's.

Preview San Diego State at WSU

This coming Saturday SDSU will
be coming to play the Cougars
in Pullman. The Cougars are
1.5 point favorites in this one.

Last Saturday the Cougars won on
last second field goal. It looks
it may be the same this time around.

The Cougars are 2 and 1 against the
Aztecs. Last year the Cougars won in
29-26 in October. At this point the
Cougars were a better team than
in 2024. This why they play the games.

The Cougars for sure have to run
ball better than against Idaho last
week. They do the same passing
that will be ok.

SDSU will be joining the new Pac-12
next year so these two will be playing
each other for seeable future.

We wish the best to the Cougars
this week. Go Cougs!

Mariners Continue To Struggle

Tuesday the Mariners scored enough
runs however the bullpen didn't do
their job.

This has been the  trouble since the
all- star  break and the story we have
seen for too long. When the offense is
good the pitching isn't and vice versa.

Final Rays 6 Mariners 5.

Rays had two runs in the first. The
Mariners did take lead in the 4th
when Cal and Julio had back to back
home runs. Jorge had a home run
as well.

The Rays had two runs in the six and
seventh inning each. Bryan Woo
gave up a run before leaving in the
sixth before leaving without any outs.
Caleb Ferguson gave up the other run.
Gabe Speier gave up the two in the
7th.

The Mariners did make it interesting
in the 9th where Mitch Garver hit
a sacrifice fly scoring Polanco.
The Mariners did have runners on
base when they couldn't tie it

This feels so familiar over the years.
The Mariners needs to get out of
this funk. See if they can win Wednesday
and take two out of three at least against
the Braves. Go M's.

Preview UC Davis at Washington

Now that the opening game is over
for both teams we should see better
play at least from the Huskies.

Jonah Coleman had 177 yards and two
touchdowns in the opening game so
anything close should help the Huskies.
Expect Demond Williams Jr. to throw
better in this one.

The defense didn't do well against
the run in the first half however shut
down Colorado in the second half.
Even if the same play as the second
should see better than the first half
was like.

The Huskies are 35.5 favorites going
into the game. UC Davis Beat Utah
Tech last Saturday 31-24.  Utah Tech
scored 21 straight points then UC Davis
turned around around and scored 24
straight points in the second halfarter . .
Utah State led 10-7 at half time. Tdown hey
scored two touchdowns in the third
quarter then UC Davis matched with
two in the third quarter. They had a field
and a touchdown in the 4th quarter
and shutout Utah Tech.

The Huskies sure with lead off running
the ball however mix in the pass. I
expect we may not see much of Jonah
Coleman in the second half. This will
allow the backup running backs to get
more playing experience.

Caden  Pinnick is UCD starting quarterback
is a true freshman who beat last year's QB
and senior Grant Harper. I wouldn't be
surprised seeing both of them play
at some point. Pinnick threw for three
touchdowns completing 21 of 32 passes
253 yards. The Huskies defensive back
will be busy since UCD will be throwing
a lot if they get down fast and good time
for a pass rush and turnovers.

Mariners Lose at Tampa Bay

Again the Mariners weren't  able win
again the first game of a series. The
Mariners beat the Rays when they
played at home by sweeping all
three games.

Final  Rays 10 Mariners 2

The Mariners were able to have ten
hits however left runners on base.
The Mariners two runs was on Leo
Rivas first major league home run
in 9th inning.  He and Harry Ford
were activated on Monday along
with reliever Luke Jackson who
recently was signed by the M's
to a minor league contract.
Neither Ford or Jackson got into
the game.  Rivas pinch hit for
Jorge Polanco.

The Rays scored two runs in the
second followed by three more
in the third on a home run.
Again Luis Castillo had a bad outing
this time going four innings. Again
the Rays scored five more later in
the game.  Emerson Hancock
made it into the game as a reliever
for the first time. He didn't fair to
well. We hope next time.

Bryan Woo pitches Tuesday so he
will give the Mariners a chance.

Preview SF 49ers at Seattle Seahawks

It is early on as the Seahawks regular
season doesn't begin until September
7th when they play host to the 49ers.

The 49ers are considered in a rebuild in
a way. Being a rival game to begin
the season it is important to get off to a
good start. In recent years the 49ers have dominated the Seahawks. They are favored
by 2.5 points.

Looking at the 49ers offense Brock
Purdy is still their quarterback. Christian
McCaffrey is their running back. The
49rrs success may depend on whether
he can stay healthy. George Kittle is
still their tight end and primary receiver
however will he be the same? They don't
have same power of receivers as before.

Defense will likely the story the 49ers as
it is for the Seahawks. The Rams are
favored however the 49ers and Seahawks
could decide it. The Seahawks must win
this game at home. A loss isn't  the end
however they will have to fight harder.
Go Hawks!
